It all started in sixth grade, when a friend of mine handed me a composition notebook. I scribbled down my imaginings in it, and when it was full I just kept getting more. Years later, and many notebooks later I'm here, starting the career I've always dreamed of.

Copying and pasting my Amazon review written some time ago.

"As the first installment to her debut series, Rebecca Meacham shows quite some promise. Most Young Adult paranormal novels follow the formula of "Girl meets boy + boy/girl has a dark secret + they date anyway = novel." Quite fortunately, this is not the case here. Violet has the girl meets boy, but then there's the murder, and the demons, the guilt, the haunting, and then, of course, comes the secret. Violet shares many themes with its fellow supernatural novels, but while it has the same supernatural elements of Twilight, it has the strong female narration of Hunger Games, and the wars and themes of the Harry Potter series.
Story-wise, Violet is about a seventeen year old who finds out that she is one out of ten of her kind, and she is the only one fighting for good in what will be the war to end all wars. This book has religious tones without being a religious book, never once does it preach, yet all the themes of good versus evil, human nature, and what exactly is going on unseen planes of existence. Violet, the main character which the book is named for, is thrown into the midst of all of this before her senior year, and the only one who can answer her questions is the mysterious Umbrella Man, who knows more than he is letting on. Violet as a character is flawed, which makes her real and relatable. Despite these flaws she continues to persevere for the good of all of mankind. A much better role model then is found in the media today, Violet, and her series, is one to follow.

TL;DR A strong narrative, a mold breaking story, and an enthralling theme. Few typos that do not distract from the experience, and amazing artwork to boot. Would definitely recommend."

Wow. This is overdue. I did not dislike almost anything. But, because this is the first book of a series and I have no knowledge of a second book I am forced to give this book a 3 out of 5. It is an intriguing read with an original idea that I would recommend .It just felt like an intro that just took up the whole book. Again not a bad thing, but without another book,it can not stand on its own.
