Read volumes 5-6. So much fun. Great to see legendary pokemon interacting and having personality- especially event pokemon like Meloetta who basically have no lore in game. I like how White’s character has developed and her new pokemon.

This one was rather dramatic. From the battle between legendaries with White, to the 2 gym battles with Black.
It was really good, I liked the moment with all the gym leaders helping each other out.

When I first started the Black and White chapter, I wasn’t a huge fan of Black. He wasn’t as nuanced as the other Pokédex holders, and he had a full-fledged, albeit simple, backstory from the start. But I’m beginning to realize there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye, and I see myself in him. He’s dedicated and headstrong, but not reckless. He does his research. To me, he’s the perfect mix of two of my other favorite Pokédex holders; Gold and Silver.
But enough about Black. The gathering of Gym Leaders in battle is something I’ve come to expect in this series, but the way it was done here was great. Instead of the Gym Leaders just asking the main character to help and then agreeing, or the MC just happening to be there, Black had to prove himself. It was great.
White and Shauntal’s meeting with the Legendaries on the Battle Subway was amazing too. It was brilliantly drawn and I’m looking forward to seeing Shauntal more in the series. She was my favorite Elite Four member when I played White all those years ago.

This series can be really weird, you see in some cases it has totally realistic Pokemon fights but in other cases they have Black shot out of a giant canon and landing hard on a tower without any problems.
This entire volume has this weirdness, like these three legendary weather pokemon being all over Unova, so why has Black never heard of them? In other cases the characters make quite smart decisions but in other cases incredibly dumb ones.

Clay is such a great character in this series! Plus we get more Battle Subway, and the appearance of another member of the Elite Four! I have got to say though that while it’s cool to see lathe three genie Pokémon I was a bit disappointed that they don’t get autonomy for very long.

This one felt a little more rushed and… haphazard I guess. Maybe it’s just me, but it felt like some things went too fast and other things were just passed by. Black literally battled two gym leaders back to back with almost nothing happening in between.
MILD SPOILERS AHEAD:

I also was annoyed that Clay said his Krokorok was “defeated” and the whipped it out again like, “no, my bad, he’s just almost knocked out”. That just annoyed me a bit more than the normal inconsistencies I’ve come to love with this series.

I really like the manga and I’m a huge fan of Gen 5 also known as Pokémon Black and White. Out of all nine volumes in this series I like volumes five and six more than the rest.

I wish the Subway Bosses got more appearances in this series because they’re some of the best Pokémon characters in the Pokémon universe.

Anyway great story. Though I would to see the author make a Pokémon Legends Arceus manga series.

Pokémon Adventures: Black and White, Vol. 5 is about trainers growing stronger with their Pokémon while facing tough battles. The story is fast and focuses on the characters, who are brave and fun to follow. I liked how the trainers kept going even when things got hard, which felt hopeful. The teamwork between trainers and Pokémon made it exciting.

Good to see Black's adventures continue. White does deserve a bit more time to build out her character.
