"Me" Time: Finding the Balance Between Taking Care of Others and Taking Care of Yourself

Rate this book
"'Me' Time: Finding the Balance Between Taking Care of Others and Taking Care of Yourself" was written for anyone who spends so much time and energy taking care of everyone else that there is little time or energy left for self-care.

You will recognize yourself in the book's stories and think, "This book is about me! How did she get inside my head?" You will find explanations for things that you didn't know you needed to have explained.

The author explores the reasons for a lack of balance and its relationship to the codependency, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and relationship problems that she sees every day in her psychotherapy practice. More importantly, she provides practical, easy to use techniques to turn negative thoughts and actions into positive, life-changing ones.

Each chapter starts with a quiz to identify issues addressed in that chapter and ends with suggestions for "Putting It Into Action." Numerous examples are given to help you to understand and apply the ideas presented. This book is a must-read if you feel like your life is mostly about everyone else and not about you.

This is probably one of the best books I've read. It made me pause and think about myself, my actions, my way of thinking, my lifestyle. I went back years down the memory lane to assess myself. I personally found this book very enlightening, because it helped me realize a lot of things about myself, which I hadn't paid much attention to. I would definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book. When I'm reading a "self help" book I like to be sure that it's something I would recommend. The straight forward structure for each chapter and quick quiz allows a person to know what is relevant for them. I also really enjoyed the exercises and stories. This book made it simple to look at the things effecting the reader's attitudes and gave a lot o f examples for what can help. It's definitely a great addition to my shelf and for future clients.

Self-help

I loved this book. I didn't feel like I was being lectured but that I was having a conversation. It asks questions to show you how your life will relate to each chapter, gives examples and a lot of explanation. Than it ends with questions and examples to help you put what was discussed into action.
