“Gold, Guts and Grog,” Part FiveWell, Palisade has seen better days. It stinks like orc blood. There are bits of troll all over the place. Worst of all, the famous booze ship, Drowned Sorrows, sank to the bottom of the harbor in the attack. This era of Palisade will forever be known as THE DRY SPELL.

These woman are trouble! But they are interesting to read about, and have great art. I can't wait to see where their journey takes them. The little one and the redhead with the beard abilities are my favorite characters.
In this volume the Queens are in the midst of some strange disappearances, and a look at some alternate reality the girls could have lived. Lots of humor and great plot twists in this volume.
"Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they're in the business of killing all god's creatures for profit. It's also a darkly comedic sass-and-sorcery series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Smidgen Thief."
If that description doesn't do anything for you, GTFO, because this badass comic series is for true fantasy/DnD fans.
Heroines with varying strengths and flaws instead of the typical extremes of "good over-the-top-cleavage model" and "evil over-the-top-cleavage model", heroines who get their asses kicked and have to manage to heal themselves instead of shrugging off stabs and arrow wounds like so many other comics/manga, a diverse caste with diverse body sizes (including black people and an Asian chick, for real), an intriguing story full of humor, and great full-color art complete this package. I couldn't ask for more.
Some of the negative reviews I've read are from people who just didn't get the fantasy/DnD references -- such as races, classes, gods, or lame-ass guys summoning lame-ass tentacles -- so it's just a matter of knowing what genre you're getting into here.
And to all the haters of this series, I defer to Hannah ~
Good finish to this arc. Vol 1 (issues 1-5) is now available. Fantasy that does not take itself too seriously. And the epic battles continue. Also good setup for the next arc.
Another favourite of mine, finished the intense battle and then friendship, love... awhh and that guy with the bird is too cute! He has birds in it, awesome! 5 stars!
