This was a book that caught my eye because of the Subtitle. It wasn't until recently that I realized the full name and reread it with new eyes and an Open Heart. Many things I do 'right' in this romantic relationship arena. many others...well we'll just say "Yikes".
On the other hand, I'm validated by Ms Hammonds understanding of the feminine hearts desire to be sure...to be pursued, to be Chosen, to be sure he's sure and to be sure 'we're' sure.
I appreciate the comparison to the Biblical Esther pointing to how mighty A Woman's Influence..how do you handle yours? Still learning...Shandra

This book was too preachy for me and I did not like the structure of it at all.
This book is... like walking into a bible study in a bar. It's not quite right.
I tend to evaluate my self-help books not only as the piece, but what the author looks like - I mean, it's a self help book. If you write it you should look pretty together because you are pretty together.
When I read business books if the guy on the cover is wearing jeans and a ratty t-shirt I'm doubtfully going to take money advice from him. How to code, maybe - but not money advice.
Same with this woman. She's unmarried, overweight, and at first glance she has self esteem issues due to the amount of makeup she wears (If she has a skin condition she doesn't mention I'll retract that).
Her first few pages talk about having a relationship with your man like your relationship with god. Not about healthy living, not about working on yourself and your goals so you attract people who are like-minded and healthy as well. No. They talk about man's authority, how people are wired (with no scientific facts to back it up), and re-telling bible stories.
It's great if you get something out of the book if the path you've chosen for your life is god, but honestly, read with a grain of salt - this is more like Bridget Jones' Diary - fictitious with no results to back it up.
Eh... I just couldn't get into it. I tried. I even skimmed ahead to try and get a better feel. It felt flat. I didn't like the way she tries to rewrite the biblical story in a storytelling vibe and then the second part of each chapter explain it or break it down. It just... didn't catch my attention or interest me. It never seemed to go anywhere relevant or important to me. I'm sure this book would be great for someone else, but for me, I'll pass.
