Emily is a young woman with a lot on her plate. Estranged from her dying father and trying to repay old debts left behind by her late husband, Em is barely able to care for herself...but she's a nurse and saving lives is what she does, even if she doesn't agree with the circumstances that bring patients to her ICU.

"I set aside the chart and turned back to him. 'What in the world possessed you to drink and drive like that?'" --Emily

Jake is a has-been drunk. One too many drinks after admitting fault in trying to break up his brother's relationship, leaves him with a collapsed lung and in a medically induced coma, intubated in the ICU. In and out of consciousness, a constant vision comes to him, a green-eyed angel sent to save Jake from himself...never did he think she was real, or that he could and would save her too.

"'We're both broken people looking for a safe place to land. Maybe this time we've actually found solid ground.'"

This story seemed to both fly by and creep along at the same time for me. I understood once I finished why the author rushed things; there are many layers to both characters. Emily has baggage, tons of it. Because of everything she has going on, she is emotionally all over the place. Jake has his own demons to deal with and the strain brought forward in his family relationships puts him both over the edge and onto the straight and narrow.
The way Emily and Jake come together could be realistic...but I am a little more old-fashioned and the swiftness of their relationship just didn't feel right to me. Now, it's not to say I didn't enjoy the story & in a perfect world, all men could & would immediately change themselves to fit in a woman's life; just maybe not to this extreme. Overall, this was a very easy and engaging read, I kept turning pages because I wanted to see if everything worked out. Despite some of the heavy topics, this is a perfect "forget-the-world" kind of read...complete with happily ever after.

**I give this book an easy-yet-fast-paced 3.5 stars.**

I knew I loved Emily right off when the girl talked to Jake while the boy was unconscious, "I'll say it again, what were you thinking? Don't you realize how much pain you've cause your family?" I sighed. "okay, maybe that's not fair. Maybe you had a reason. Just don't do something that dumb again. You won't get lucky twice." Emily also is a funny girl and she balances Jake which I think is good. "Hold your horses there, stud. I think you have more important things to worry about than lining up a date." Jake is cocky which I love, "I thought we just established we both like each other. We kissed - twice. Are you really doubting whether I'm getting a second date?" Then there is a sweet side to Jake which I absolutely adore, "I know I haven't earned it yet, but one day I'm going to earn your forever, and Noah's too. I'm going to be the man by your side through everything, the one you come home to, the one you wake up with for the rest of your life." Jake and Emily were made for each other, they come along at the right moment and save one another and that is what I love most about the bookie, about one person who gets a second chance, and another who gets a first chance.

This by far was my favorite book and couple in the series. I did like the others but these two just were so much better. It was love at first sight for both of them. They were exactly what each of them needed. It was great how easily they worked together and their relationship didn't seem to have too much drama.

Wrecked by Alyssa Rose Ivy is the third story in the Clayton Falls Series. This story focuses on Ben's younger brother Jake and the beautiful Emily. It begins with Jake drinking and driving, and ending up in a pretty series car accident. While in induced coma and on a ventilator, his young, and beautiful nurse Emily, goes above and beyond taking care of him. She can't help but be fascinated by this young guy, and be curious about him. She can tell that he has classic good looks, even with all the bruising, and multiple injuries that he has sustained. At times, she finds herself holding his hand, and just staring at him, and thinks she can even feel him lightly squeeze her hand. When Jake wakes up he is confused about where he is and what has happened. However, the first thing he sees is Emily's beautiful green eyes looking at him, and he thinks she looks like a beautiful angel. From this point on he is convinced that there is something very special about Emily, and he is determined to get her to go out on a date with him. Emily, ends up saying "yes," and from this point on they begin a whirlwind romance. However, Emily has a few secrets, and Jake has his own personal problems to contend with, which leads the young couple to have some major bumps in the road, and the questions become, "Can they make their relationship work," and "Is their relationship worth what they have to go through to make it last?"

I really enjoyed reading Wrecked. It was such a sweet, and fast-paced love story. I enjoyed the setting of Clayton Falls immensely. It was a small little quaint town full of personality. Everyone in town knew each other, and their lives intersected in one way or another. I also enjoyed the closeness of Jake and Emily's friends, and family. Jake's mother Mary was very supportive of her son, and loved Emily. Emily's best friend Mel was an amazing person, who really did everything she could to help Emily. I also enjoyed reconnecting with Molly, Ben, Ben's parents, Becca, Gavin, and other minor characters, even if just briefly. It was like revisiting old friends. I love how this series is formatted with each story focusing on a new couple, but still bringing in the other couples from the previous books. It's nice to see the other character's we fell in love with's story continue, and seeing what is going on in their lives as time moves forward.

Jake made great character growth in his story. He realized that he had certain life issues he needed to deal with, and that he needed to mature, and grow-up if he wanted to be with Emily. He did this on his own, as he was inspired to be the best person for Emily, because he knew that she was special, and deserved the best. Jake was so sweet, and tender with Emily. I loved how he treated her, and how he supported her, and became her "rock." Emily was such an amazing, and likable character. She was strong, independent, responsible, caring, compassionate, and down to earth. She was the type of person that I could image being friends with. Jake and Emily made an adorable couple, and I found myself smiling, swooning over the way Jake treated Emily, and going "Awww," quite a few times throughout the story.

I have enjoyed getting to read part of the Clayton Fall series, and thus far, Wrecked, has been my favorite in the series! I recommend this book, and found it to be a relaxing, refreshing, and beautifully sweet, fast-paced love story. I cannot wait to continue the Clayton Falls series, and am so excited to have discovered an amazing new author such as, Alyssa Rose Ivy. I enjoy her writing style, the authentic and realistic nature of her stories, the way she write's conversations between characters, and how real the character's are themselves. She write's the perfect amount of detail, enough that I am able to visualize the setting, character's physical appearances, and personalities, but not too much detail where the story gets weighed down, boring, and too slow-paced. For the readers out there like myself that enjoy contemporary romances, but sometimes need a break from stories filled with a lot of angst, and drama, Wrecked is a refreshing change of pace, and an excellent choice for a bookish escape!

I give Wrecked by Alyssa Rose Ivy a Sweet, Small Town, Transformative, New Beginning 4.5 Stars! If you enjoy New Adult Contemporary Romances, you will enjoy this really sweet love story! If you're in the mood to escape in to a fast-paced read that includes the sweet personality of a small town, close-knit family, and friends, as well as two broken individuals coming together, and healing one another, this is the story for you! This is also a great choice for those of you that dislike love-triangles, cliff-hangers, and high-drama romance stories! I look forward to continuing this series, and hope the next book is about Mel, and Cole (hint, hint, nudge, nudge, Alyssa ;)

My Favorite Quotes:
"Beautiful. That's the only way I can describe the angel leaning over me. Everything was hazy except for her face. She had pretty green eyes that watched me intently." (EARC, 13)

"Good. You're like that really good surprise gift. It's not the one you expect, or the one you asked for-but it's all the better because of that." (EARC, 91)

"I've never been with a girl I couldn't get enough of. You make my heart race, you make me feel out of control, and I love every second of it." (EARC, 105)

"We're both broken people looking for a safe place to land. Maybe this time we've actually found solid ground." (EARC, 116)

"Sometimes doing the right thing means doing what some people might consider wrong." (EARC, 154)

I knew it! It's no secret that I adore Alyssa's books. I've been looking forward to reading Jake's story ever since I was reading Derailed. I knew that his book would end up being my favorite and it was so worth the wait!

Jake was always such a scene stealer in Derailed and Veer. He had the sweet but cocky guy attitude thing going on for him and he played it well. Turns out, Jake had more problems then I thought and he wasn't such a care-free guy. After a high school secret is revealed, Jake makes a stupid mistake and gets hammered. Not only that but he decides to drive while drunk. He flips his jeep and ends up in the hospital. Luckily, he's better after a few days but he's lost his car, his licence and he has to do community service. The only bright spot in all of this is Jake's nurse, Emily. Leave it to Jake to hit on (and score a date) with his nurse while recovering from his induced coma. He's just that charming! Although Emily's first reaction of Jake is that he's reckless and irresponsible (for the DUI), there's something about him that's makes her want to spend more time with him. She ends up agreeing to a date with Jake once he's out of the hospital which turns out to be great and leads to more dates. Even though they live in different towns, he can't drive, and she is working so many double shifts, things between them are easy (but passionate). But Emily is keeping something from Jake and she doesn't know if he is responsible enough to handle her life.

I really hope this isn't a spoiler since it's revealed pretty early and it would make my review really hard without mentioning it...Emily has a two-year old son, Noah, from a previous relationship. I admit that when I thought this was the direction the story was going I was nervous. When I found out for sure that this is what she was keeping, I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue. *sigh* For some reason, I don't like stories that involve kids. Especially when the kids already exist from different relationships. I know this sounds mean and dumb but oh well. I just have a hard time connecting with these kinds of stories (except for a few books by Rachel Gibson). This was my main issue with Forever My Girl. But how could I NOT keep reading? This was Jake's book! So I sucked it up, put on my big girl blogger panties (what. you don't have some?) and kept reading. I'm so glad I did because I really, REALLY ended up loving this! The reason why did worked is was because Jake was amazing with Noah. After a much understood momentary moment of shock and panic, he realizes he wants Emily in his life and this means Emily and Noah. He wasn't distant with Noah or scared of him and watching their relationship grow melted my ice cold heart. Emily was great too. She wasn't one of those overbearing and overprotective mothers who make a big deal out of everything. Sure she had her doubts but for the most part she just let Jake and Noah's relationship grow. Not only was it great seeing Emily and Jake's relationship progress, it was so adorable seeing all three of them progress.

I think Alyssa really stepped up the hotness factor in this book and the scenes between Jake and Emily were great without being too much. And who knew Jake was such a sweet guy and a romantic at heart? I was expecting a total bad boy and was very pleasantly surprised. (I must be going soft because I've been liking more and more good guys) Once again, the secondary characters were so great to read. We get to see a lot of Ben and Molly, who I thought had some very cute and funny scenes with Jake. We even get to see a little bit of Becca and Gavin. We are also introduced to Emily's friend, Mel and Jake's friend, Cole who have a bit of history going on and a whole lot of awkward tension and chemistry. Can I please have their story next? Wrecked was a sweet and heartfelt story, another one to add to my 'Alyssa's Books Rock' collection!

4.5 out of 5 stars!

I haven't read the other two books in the Clayton Falls series, but that didn't keep me from understanding what was going on in Wrecked . Former high-school legend football player Jake Mathews is a 23-year-old who makes a mistake--he drinks and drives. And gets in a terrible accident. Thankfully, no one else is hurt, but Jake is in ICU for some time. While there, he meets his nurse, Emily, and is instantly smitten.
"Are you going to be my nurse the whole time I'm here?"

"I don't think you'll be staying in the ICU much longer so you'll be moved to another floor. Of course, that all depends on what the doctors say. It should only be another day or two at most, but you'll have me again tonight."

I decided not to mention how else her comment could be interpreted. "In case I'm not here later, I better get your number now."

Because of his accident, Jake gets a DUI and can't drive for a year, but he doesn't let that get in the way of pursuing Emily. She likes him, too, but she's got a secret, and she doesn't know if Jake will still want her after he finds out. Fortunately, there's not much emodrama in this quick read.

I liked a lot of things about this book. I liked the setting and the characters. I appreciated that Emily (especially) questioned the authenticity of Jake's feelings, and I enjoyed the way their relationship unfolded.
"I like you too."

He smiled. "I figured that out when you kissed me back."

"I could have just been so surprised that I didn't know how to react."

"Let's make sure." He leaned over and kissed me again.

Jake was sweet and seems to be different than he was before. There were some issues for me, some of which definitely would have been solved if Ivy had gotten a real editor. Aside from that, I felt like Emily and Jake were a little wishy-washy. She questioned whether they were serious, even after they exchanged ILYs and spent pretty much all of their free time together. There's some drama toward the end concerning her brother that felt like it was just thrown in there for added something. I liked getting the dual-POVs, but at times I felt like Jake had some unrealistic reactions. All of that would have been fixed by an editor, though.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I will definitely be checking out the other books in the series. Check it out, Steamettes. Wrecked is a quick read with just the right amount of both sweet and steamy.

I have loved this series from the first book. I have gotten to know the characters and Clayton Falls. My favorite character was Jake, so I was so excited to finally get to read his book!! He was every bit as awesome to read about as I was hoping. I also loved that the rest of the characters that we already know are very present too. It's like hanging out with your friends again after being away. This was fantastic and I really enjoyed getting Jake and Emily's story.

Jake was of course his funny, sarcastic self a lot of the time, but in this, he also shows his sweet, and caring side. Okay, so we know that he can be sweet, caring, and charming, but this was so much more. It was him, being honest with himself, changing the things about him that he felt needed to change, putting someone else first. Yes, he was kind of forced into it, but I do believe that he was always like that underneath the sarcastic, trouble making exterior. Not only did I love how he changed and bonded with Emily, but I liked that he wanted to be good enough. He didn't change because she wanted him to, he changed because he wanted to.

Emily was a very guarded person. For good reason of course, but I thought it was weird how quickly and easily she was able to open up to Jake. Especially with certain things in her past, and the fact that she hasn't dated anyone in like two years. I liked her, I really did, but I thought that was a little odd. She was a very hard working woman who has her priorities straight though, and I really respected her for that. She really had a whole lot of growth through the story though, and I really loved her in the end.

The romance was a bit fast for me. I thought it was very entertaining that Jake would flirt with and pick up his nurse from ICU, but that is just how he is. He is fun, even in bad situations. Emily was eager to meet up with him and get to know him and that is understandable, but after a few weeks, they were declaring their love for each other. I get that people can fall for each other quickly, but being that they didn't know each other at all before, I think that is a bit fast to be in love. Besides that, I thought that their relationship was wonderful to see grow, and see where it was going. Things weren't always easy, but I loved that they worked things out like mature adults do.

I loved this book, I loved Jake and Emily, and I loved getting to see all the other people that I had grown to love in the previous books. The issues and situations in the book were believable and realistic, and the romance was amazing. I hope that this is not the end to the Clayton Falls series, since there are a few characters who I think we could get their story, but if it is the end. I am happy to say good bye on a good note. I have really enjoyed the series as a whole and recommend it to contemporary and new adult fans.Review coming soon.

Jake just made one huge mistake and it was nearly deadly. His drinking has finally caught up to him and landed him in the hospital. The moment he opens his eyes, he sees an angel. Well, his nurse, but to him she is nothing less of a heavenly being. And Emily is all it took for him to turn his life around. She has saved him. Only problem is she is hiding a secret. Will the secret be too much for Jake to handle…sending him back to his old ways? Or will it only strengthen their growing romance?

You know what I love about this book? The fact that it is a continuation of the other books in the series. Some of the past characters make frequent visits, so we see their story isn't really over yet. It is like old friends stopping in to say hello. And all that does is bring a smile to my face when I see them mentioned. I love these characters something fierce and enjoy every time they come around. The best part? Knowing that this series could continue on for a while with some of the other characters. I see one and think of how perfect it would be to have Ivy write their story.

One other thing I adored about this story was the switching of POV’s between Jake and Emily. I cannot tell you which one I enjoyed more. Usually I am not one for male POV’s when the author is a female. Sometimes they cannot get them sounding right and they will come off sounding artificial But not with Ivy… she does a fantastic job making the whole story and characters believable.

Although the series didn’t start off as great for me with DERAILED…it did continue to get better with VEER and even more so with WREAKED. I am so glad we got to see that WREAKED is Jake’s story. I enjoyed him in VEER but absolutely loved him in this one. He is so sweet and adorable; it’s no wonder Emily fell for him. Heck, I would have too. But these two are so perfect for each other with their witty humor and obvious feelings for one another. Jake never stood a chance the minute he laid eyes on Emily when waking up for his coma. And neither did she.

I always find it hard writing a review for a book that is 3rd and so on in a series. Even though each of these books have their own characters and plot, it is still hard for me to talk about the book by itself without mentioning the other 2 before it or just talking about it as a whole. After all, at this point in the series, what more can you say but READ IT or DON’T READ IT! But I can promise this is one of those books you will definitely WANT to read. If you haven’t taken the time to read the first 2, then you are missing out. If you have, then get this one ASAP. It is just a given that you need to read it. And I think you will see that the series just keeps getting better and better as it goes on.

I didn't know I was addicted to the Clayton Falls series until I realized I had read Wrecked the day after I received it. For me, that's unheard of. Not with my review schedule. And I read it in one sitting one quiet evening. The result? I LOVED it!

I really liked Derailed (my review), liked Veer (my review), and now I really loved Wrecked. I was anxiously awaiting Jake's story and author Alyssa Rose Ivy has finally given it to me. Thank you! There's always a soft spot in my reading heart for the so-called 'bad boys' and though I don't find Jake that 'bad', he's misunderstood because he keeps too much inside. He needs to vent and communicate. In Wrecked, Jake meets Emily and she's sporting a lot of concealed hurt. There's an instant attraction between them and as they date, they begin to loosen up and allow the other in. Jake has to stop his drinking and Emily has to trust another man.

Wrecked is intensely emotional, totally engrossing (I mean, I was thinking about Jake as if he was a real guy as I read), and poignant. My only comment is the pacing was too fast in places and needed a slower transition. It was great seeing Jake change--WANT to change for a woman--but retain what makes him so attractive in the first place. His scenes with a certain young boy were touching. All around him he has witnessed his brother happily married and soon to be a dad and another friend has announced he's engaged. The set-up in the hospital was an ideal way for him to wake up and also meet his match with a certain caring nurse. Community service and coaching football helped bring out the playful side of Jake. Emily is sweet but tough, resilient, determined to provide for her family, yet yearning for the companionship of someone in her life. Both have secrets and there's some heartbreak. The end result is a story to smile about. Together, Jake and Emily make an ideal couple and they're my favorite Clayton Falls couple.

What I also enjoy about the series is the way Alyssa Rose Ivy captures that certain magic of small town living. Knowing your neighbors, having family close by, mom and pop businesses--this is old-fashioned community and all of this provides the heart and soul of Clayton Falls. It's always nice to see characters from the other books too. The series tagline is "Come Home to Clayton Falls" and while reading the pages, you actually feel like you're at a place you could easily call home.

Take a visit to Clayton Falls and fall in love with these characters. I did. (I received a promotional copy in exchange for my honest review found here: http://www.readergirlsblog.com/2013/0...)

I am a huge fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy and I just love her books, especially the Clayton Falls Series. I was so excited to find out that Jake was getting a story. We got met Jake Matthews in the first book, Derailed, and I have been dying to know more about him ever since. I have to say that Jake is my favorite of all the characters so far and I just loved his story. I also love the fact that in each story, you still get to see all the main characters from the previous books, and find out what is going on in their lives. Jake is Ben Matthews' younger brother. Book one, Derailed, was Ben and Molly's story. While at a party one night, and much to Jake's dismay, something gets revealed that happened back in high school with Ben and Molly. Jake winds up drinking and driving, and lands himself in the hospital. It is here that he meets, Emily, his nurse, who happens to be the most beautiful creature Jake has ever seen. After Jake gets out of the hospital and finds himself doing community service, he is determined to get his life together, and he is also determined that he wants Emily to be a part of it. Emily is crazy about Jake to, but when he finds out her biggest secret, will he even want to stick around? That secret, along with all the other things that have happened to Emily have resulted in her having scars and fears that go really deep. Jake has to decide how much he really wants Emily, what he is willing to do to get her, and convince her to let him in, but will Emily let him?
I totally and completely fell in love with Jake in this story. I just knew beneath all that hotness and attitude was a really awesome guy, which he more than proved in Wrecked. Jake has his own issues to work through, especially regarding his drinking. He also has to come to terms with what he finds out about Emily's life and the people in it, both past and present. I really liked Emily's character to. To only be 21 years old, she has been through so much. She has persevered, has a nursing degree, and though struggling to make ends meet, has done really well for herself, especially considering her past. I loved the relationship between Emily and Jake. There was chemistry for sure, but there was also real love. I truly enjoyed watching these two fall in love and deal with the issues life had dealt them, while trying to find their HEA. Alyssa Rose Ivy has written another great installment in the Clayton Falls Series and I recommend checking it out. I can't wait to see whose story we will read in the next installment.

This is the 3rd book in the Clayton Falls series, so I knew a little about Jake, but it was nothing compared to what we learnt about him in this book. The book starts off with a bang, and I loved that it did not stop right until the very end. Jake has made some choices in life that are not the greatest of decisions, and one major one is revealed at the beginning of this book, and that is when all the drama starts.
When he is in the hospital we are introduced to his nurse Emily, who is on the night shift when he is brought in, and because of situations that have occurred in her past, she is very much put off by Jake and what has happened, however, she feels drawn to him at the same time, and she is confused and not happy that this is happening. Jake seems determined to make an impression on Emily and have her go out on a date with him, and he can be very charismatic when he needs to be. We see them start to date and everything seems to be going okay, however, we know that Emily is hiding something, and we do not find out till later what that something is. I really enjoyed how Alyssa did this and kept us wondering on who or what this is because it gave us even more reason to keep reading.
During the duration of this novel, we see both of the main characters step put of their comfort zone in big ways, and we were able to see them grow together in a very realistic non fairytale way, and this is one of the things that I love about Alyssa's work, she is able to see that there are going to be bumps in the road that people have to work through, and instead of jumping right over them, she attacks them head on and is able to show that sometimes life is not perfect, and it shouldn't be because everything that is important to you should be worth fighting for and working through those bumps.
I have been privileged enough to read the three Clayton Falls novels, and I have loved every single one of them, Alyssa is able to pull at my heart strings just enough to make me feel empathy for the characters, but at the same time I am not put in to a "book depression" reading her work, it is the absolute perfect amount of drama and love for me, and she has become the go to author for me for when I am in need of these kinds of novels, even over Nora Roberts who was my go to, so in my eyes that is a HUGE accomplishment, and I want to thank her for her work, and I cannot wait to read more, and I wish her all the success in the world, and will do what I can to make sure more people are reading her work.

Clayton Falls and Alyssa never seem to disappoint me. Wrecked was a great story and I loved seeing a new side to Jake. I did like him in Derailed and Veer, but I did find him annoying and immature at times. It wasn’t until his full story unveiled, his accident happened, and he found Emily that I really loved him and who he is. Alyssa does it again and created a very sweet and touching love story between two characters who fit so well together, who needed and completed each other. I was pleasantly surprised at how their story unfolded and I loved every minute of it.

Jake’s character really shined through in this book and I loved getting inside his head. After his accident he really gets his act together, thanks, in part, to meeting Emily. He knows he needs to get his act together, be a better person that she can depend on and trust, so it was great seeing him own up to his mistakes, make something of himself, and sweep Emily off her feet. Because he got a DUI, he has to do some community service, and he can’t drive (except to work/community service) for a year. I liked that through his community service, Jake finds something to do with his life, something he realizes he’s passionate about. Through Emily, he fights his urges to turn to alcohol and he grows up pretty quickly. He definitely shows his sweet, romantic side after meeting her. Things get serious really fast, but in a believable way, and I loved their romance.

I really liked Emily. She is one of those strong characters who isn’t afraid to take chances. She definitely had a surprise or two I didn’t expect, which added drama to their story, and I loved it. Emily is such a gentle soul, and such a sweet girl. She was definitely good for Jake and they are so cute together. I liked that she was the sensible, level-headed one to Jake’s impulsive personality. Not only was the romance good, the smexy scenes didn’t disappoint and you could see the passion they had for each other.

I think any fans of Jake will really enjoy his story. I especially loved how much of Ben & Molly we see in this book. You even get to see a bit of Becca & Gavin, which was great. I love how companion novels tie in significant characters like that. There aren’t any pivotal scenes or riveting moments like I was hoping for or excepting in a novel like this, but it still flowed smoothly and in the end, it was a sweet love story. I will definitely miss the characters of Clayton Falls!

Wrecked

Just when I think Alyssa Rose Ivy’s books can’t get any better, she proves me wrong. Wrecked, the third book in the Clayton Falls series is honest, real, and completely breathtaking. I love how Jake’s story is completely different from Ben and Gavin’s. I have such a love for series that intersect each other and bring back characters you know and love. And since I always enjoyed Jake and his witty banter, getting to know his character better was fun.

Ivy has a tendency to write about real life issues and that aspect of her writing makes her stories incredibly believable and her characters relatable. Wrecked is no different. After getting into a fight with Ben, Jake takes off, gets drunk and drives. The next thing we know his jeep is flipping over and the world turns black.

I never saw Jake as the kind of character that had a drinking problem, but as I look back at the other books I realize the foreshadowing was all there. Ivy did an amazing job of showing us what was going on in everyone’s head while Jake was in the hospital. I love how perspectives changed throughout the book. Ivy always does a spectacular job of showing us what’s going on in the heads of both main characters, which of course brings us to Emily.

I adored Emily. I knew from the second she dreamt about Jake that they were going to be epic. Her story is a lot more somber than Jakes, but I really love how meeting each other helps them each heal and become the people they wanted to be. There were a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, but that’s one of the great things about Ivy, she certainly knows how to draw a reader in.

It was nice getting to see Ben and Molly as well as Gavin and Becca. Getting a peak into their lives was really awesome. I think what I loved most of all were the interactions between Jake and Emily though. They are perfect together and though a lot happens in this book and things try to keep them apart, eventually everyone ends up where they belong.

If you enjoyed Derailed and Veer I have no doubt Wrecked will knock you off your feet. I’d highly recommend this book; Ivy is one of the best writers I’ve had the pleasure to read in a long time.

Jake’s past has caught up with him the truth about how he tried to break up Molly and Ben comes out. He takes off leaving before they can confront him about what’s happened having been drinking doesn’t bode well because he crashes his car. Next thing he knows he’s in the waking up in the ICU being taken care of by the most beautiful women he’s ever met. Emily is instantly attracted to Jake but he’s her patient and she doesn’t need a man in her life. When Jake’s determined to have a date with Emily she gives him her number but doesn’t expect him to call.

After getting out of the hospital, Jake surprises Emily by calling and inviting her to do only one catch he can’t drive. Emily drives to Clayton Falls not expecting anything to happen with Jake but what she finds is a connection that leaves her wanting more. Emily has a past that has changed her life forever and could ruin everything between her and Jake. She decides to wait before telling him but when he suddenly finds out could it ruin everything for them or only make them stronger?

I really liked Jake in the prior books and was thrilled that we would get his story. Jake has issues he almost ruined his brothers chance at happiness, his football career didn’t work out and he’s never really been in love before. Emily’s life isn’t easy either she has bills, responsibilities and still a reason to work hard. She doesn’t need a man but after years of being single maybe she needs him as bad as he her.

Wrecked is the third installment in the Clayton Falls series which has been a fantastic series. I was super excited we are going to get Jake’s story after all he’s been influential in the prior books. I really connected with both characters they each have a spot in my heart and may be my favorite couple of the three. I really enjoyed the writing style of the series we get the story with the steamy moments but they aren’t overwhelming which I enjoyed. The author also gives us both points of view from the characters in the book which I think enhances the story. Wrecked is a HEA romance that steals your heart and leaves you feeling good. I honestly loved Wrecked it was well written and worth reading and I know I’ll read it again.

3.5 Rating-

Clayton Falls series is easily one of my favorite contemporary series ever next to Leaving Paradise series by Simone Elkeles. The previous books in the Clayton Falls series, Derailed and Veer were absolutely amazing. When I saw Wrecked get put up on goodreads and read that it would be Jake's own story I was ecstatic. Jake was one of my favorite characters in the series! So for him to get his own story, was insanely exciting, I really did like Jake's story. But it didn't live up to my expectations after Derailed and Veer (which I rated both 4.5 stars) I still liked it, I just didn't fall in love with it like the previous books.

I'm not sure what exactly it was about Wrecked that made me not like it as much, I just simply did not find myself enjoying as much while reading. I felt Wrecked didn't hold my interest as much, nor have as much passion as Derailed or Veer had.

I still really enjoyed this book though, even if I didn't enjoy is as much as the last two, that doesn't take away the fact that I did still enjoy it. If you have read the other two Clayton Falls books, then you have to read Wrecked. Wrecked shows a side of Jake that we don't get to see in Derailed or Veer, a softer, more caring side, and even a more grown up side to him. Jake was already one of my favorite characters before reading Wrecked, and after reading Wrecked I am totally in love with him!

I am insanely sad that this is the last book in the Clayton Falls series, but also excited at the same time. I felt all the characters I grew to love got the endings they deserved. Alyssa Rose Ivy has proven with this series that she is an amazing contemporary author (well amazing author in general actually) and she is forever going to be a favorite author of mine from now on. I look forward to her all of her upcoming novels.

If you have not yet read the Clayton Falls series, you need to do so now! It is a series that will make you feel connected to the characters, feeling what they feel, and hoping they get the happy ending the deserve, it has romance that is sweet and steamy, and everything else you could ask for in a contemporary romance.

I truly could not wait for Jake's story. He just seemed so sad or troubled and I tend to have a soft spot for those kind of guys. As the series grew, I started to see him in a different light. I felt like I watched him mature. Wrecked was sweet and simply enjoyable.

Even though Jake has always been a bit snarky, I always liked him. I liked him from the first book, but started to feel more drawn to him in Veer. In that book, he and Becca formed a really good friendship and I started to take Jake a little more seriously. I saw him as someone to rely on and trust. In Wrecked, I got to see Jake make some pretty significant changes in his life. See, Jake has had some issues in the past with drinking and now it's time to take responsibility for his actions. This is how Emily comes into his life.

I really liked Emily. I could tell right away that she was going to be sweet. There is also a depth to her character, because of what she's had to deal with the last few years. She's had to experience moments of sadness and joy, but one thing is for certain, she's a resilient girl. I love that she felt so drawn to Jake. I don't think she wanted to 'save' him necessarily, but I think they were just naturally drawn to each other.

I enjoyed watching Emily and Jake fall in love. While there isn't really any heavy drama, they still have to deal with life issues. I appreciate that Ivy brings real life situations into her stories. It makes it easy to connect with the characters and makes the story more relatable. If you enjoy NA Contemporaries, this is a series not to be missed.

3-1/2 stars. I think.

My full review, including quotes, can be found on Pretty Sassy Cool.

I haven’t read the other two books in the Clayton Falls series, but that didn’t keep me from understanding what was going on in Wrecked. Former high-school legend football player Jake Mathews is a 23-year-old who makes a mistake–he drinks and drives. And gets in a terrible accident. Thankfully, no one else is hurt, but Jake is in ICU for some time. While there, he meets his nurse, Emily, and is instantly smitten.

Because of his accident, Jake gets a DUI and can’t drive for a year, but he doesn’t let that get in the way of pursuing Emily. She likes him, too, but she’s got a secret, and she doesn’t know if Jake will still want her after he finds out. Fortunately, there’s not much emodrama in this quick read.

I liked a lot of things about this book. I liked the setting and the characters. I appreciated that Emily (especially) questioned the authenticity of Jake’s feelings, and I enjoyed the way their relationship unfolded. There’s some drama toward the end concerning her brother that felt like it was just thrown in there for added something. I liked getting the dual-POVs, but at times I felt like Jake had some unrealistic reactions. All of that would have been fixed by an editor, though.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I will definitely be checking out the other books in the series.

Alyssa Rose Ivy has been one of my favorite authors since I first read Beckoning Light in her Afterglow series, and I have loved every single book and series she has put out since then. It did not take any persuasion to jump on board to read and review Wrecked. As a fan of the first two books in the Clayton Falls series, the one story I have been looking forward to was Jake’s story. In Wrecked, I finally got my wish, and it was so much better than I imagined.

The best part about the Clayton Falls series is that it is set around the town, and each book has their own storyline and characters, with characters of the previous novels of course still popping up here and there. Jake from the very beginning of his introduction in Derailed is a troubled young man. He had not been in a serious relationship, and he really liked to drink his problems away. After Veer, I wanted to see where Jake’s story was going to take him, and I really wanted him to have some real romantic possibilities. Wrecked is exactly what I wanted for Jake, and so much more.

Emily is a very sweet young nurse, who unexpectantly crosses paths with Jake Mathews, and that is where the story truly begins. Emily is the girl next door that you want to see happy, but has many secrets in her past that keep her from being truly happy. She is a very complex character that I felt for immediately. I knew she would be a great character to balance out Jake, and keep him on his toes.

I think even fans of The Clayton Falls series that did not like Jake will fall in love with Wrecked. The story is moving and you cannot help but root for Emily and Jake. Alyssa Rose Ivy has made another impressive and addicting addition to Clayton Falls. I am going to be sitting here and waiting to see what Alyssa Rose Ivy cooks up next, because if it is anything like the rest of her books I will have to get my hands on it.

Before I start with my review, I just want to mention that I read this book without reading the first two books in the Clayton Falls series. It seems like these books can be read together or separately, each book focusing on another person living in the small town of Clayton Falls. I didn't enjoy Wrecked as much as I was hoping I would. I think I was just expecting a lot more then what I received.

Wrecked is the story of Jake and Emily. After driving drunk and crashing his car, he meets Emily, the nurse assigned to take care of him. The night before, his brother and sister-in-law learn something that Jake tried to do to them when he was in high school. I don't think this secret should have been described as his "deepest secret". It made me think we were going to learn this horrible thing, when in reality, Jake was just a stupid teenager and he regrets what he tried to do all those years ago.

I did like Jake, but didn't feel any real connection to him. He definitely went through a lot of character growth, which I admired and appreciated.

Emily was a good person, but I just didn't like her, and for many reasons that I don't want to reveal for spoiler purposes. I didn't really feel any connection to her either. I just didn't care about these characters like I would have wanted to.

My favorite thing about this story was Jake's brother, Ben and sister-in-law, Molly. I thought the two of them were so sweet and fun and I loved the dynamic between the three of them. Ben and Molly have their own story, Derailed, book 1 of the Clayton Falls series. I think I will enjoy that book a lot more.

Again, I think my main problem with Wrecked was I was expecting a lot more and was disappointed with the final outcome. I will definitely give Derailed a shot, and hopefully will enjoy much more.

Jake Matthews has had his share of screw-ups. But landing unconscious in the hospital after drunkenly wrecking his truck has to be the biggest screw-up of his life.

Emily Taylor is working double shifts as an ICU nurse to help cover expenses, while still attempting to mend her broken heart, so when she meets Jake, she doesn't know quite how to deal with his flirtatious nature.

Eventually, she succumbs to Jake's charm and leaves her phone number with him, only to embark on a romance she never thought was possible.

My Rating: 5 stars out of 5

I devoured this book in only TWO days. I seriously could not put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next. Would Jake be able to accept Emily AND her son? Would Emily come to think Jake was too reckless to handle her family? I was drawn in from the first page, and Wrecked was a story that did not disappoint.

As always, Ms.Ivy's novel is filled with well developed characters (both old and new), and her story-telling is smooth and captivating. I am always excited whenever I am able to read one of her novels (especially the Clayton Falls series as they were my introduction to her writing, and I always feel like I am coming home when I read them).

I enjoyed the romance between Jake and Emily, theirs was not an easy relationship (they had some pretty significant things happen along the way), and I admire the way they were able to overcome their own personal struggles to form a stronger bond with one another.

This was my favorite book of the Clayton Falls series so far! Please...PLEASE, tell me you're working on Book 4 with Mel?

DISCLAIMER: I received an advanced copy of Wrecked (Clayton Falls #3) in exchange for my honest review. This has not reflected on my review in any way.

Wrecked wasn't as frustrating as the previous two books. Instead, this was a case of just being not for me, since I don't like Romances with kids. This time we're getting Ben's brother, Jake's story. We've seen him be a bit of a hot head and witnessed him pass out drunk, but his problems run deeper than that. Flipping his car while drunk was definitely a wake up call for him, and it certainly helped that his nurse was attractive and the right type of woman for him.

I have to start by talking about Wrecked's opening chapter. It is the absolute dumbest thing ever and did not set a good tone for the overall story. Jake crashed his car and almost died over some high school drama. A character we have never met before, whom he use to hook up with, decides to announce how they tried to break up Ben and Molly all those years ago. This upsets Jake, he drives super drunk, crashes. Seriously!? Then Jake is surprised that he got a DUI for that. And his punishment is to coach the high school football team. Their coach is sick and they need someone, so hey, free labor! I'm not even kidding.

Other than that, Wrecked wasn't all bad. I actually did really like how Jake and Emily talk about their problems and concerns instead of just breaking up and then moping around being idiots. However, Emily has a kid, and most of the Romance revolves around her kid. The drama involves her kid. Everything is about this kid. I do not care at all! I just don't.

Clearly, this series was not my thing at all. Wrecked was the best of the three, and if you like kids, and Romances about single parents, you'll probably enjoy it. I don't. At all.

Alyssa Rose Ivy has done it again! Lord I can not stress enough that this author always has a way at pulling on your heart strings and giving you want and need in a story. In Wrecked we meet Jake and Emily. Jake is a hot mess always messing up and doing things that are not healthy for him or to him but he is a risk tacker. Only one night it goes to far and he winds up in the hospital. When he wakes up he realizes where he is and what he did to get there and he knows there is going to be hell to pay. He has disappointed his family and friends once again. Then things start to look up when he sees a nurse Emily but Jake has yet to realize he will have to work to get Emily because she is no holds bar when it comes to men and dating and especially dating a patient.

Emily is working around the clock to keep herself busy. She is getting over a breakup and it is not going so well. She keeps herself busy with her work and the patients she helps out day after day. Then she meets Jake and her world changes. At first she thinks she is crazy for even considering to like Jake because he is a patient and that is a no no but as time goes on and Jake wears her down she decides she can at least be friends with him. But Jake has other plans for them and he will stop at nothing to have the one girl he wants.

Jake also realizes that he will have to work extra hard to win Emily's trust because she has had her heart broken. He also has to pay for what he did with doing community service. Can Jake win Emily over? Will Emily let Jake in? If you know Alyssa's writing style then you know there is the good, the bad, and the ugly to this story but it a MUST READ! You will be so glad you did!

I love this series so much. It is interesting to me that instead of a series where you have all the same characters in different progressions of the plot, these are the same location and a group of people that know each other but all are different stories. Derailed, book one, is about Molly and Ben. Veer, book two, is about Becca (Molly’s friend) and Gavin the town cop. Lastly book three, Wrecked is about Jake (Ben’s brother) and a girl named Emily. All take place in Clayton Falls and all are romantic and quick reads.

I think they are in the genre of New Adult romance and they do include some sexual content, but the non-raunchy kind. The characters are all flawed in their own ways and make the most of their situations.

In Wrecked, Jake ends up in the hospital and wakes up to a beautiful nurse who takes care of him. Obviously he falls for her, but he isn’t the type to normally settle down, as we learned in the previous books. Emily is trying to pull her life together and has not dated in a very long time and isn’t sure she wants too but Jake insists they meet up outside of the hospital.

From there, they are both thrown together on a journey of love, understanding, and growth as individuals and together. It was a really beautiful story.

My only issue is the happily ever after ending all the time, these books while so wonderful to loose yourself in are very cliché in the romance department, but they are quick and lovely reads for the lover of romance and happily ever afters.

Wrecked is a heartwarming, sweet love story about two people coming together and finding their own way. Jake and Emily are both great characters each dealing with their own obstacles in life but still trying to discover love with each other.
Jake is a bit of a screw-up; he’s made some major mistakes and now has to deal with the ramifications of those choices. His biggest mistake has landed him in the hospital where he meets Emily, his nurse.

Emily is working as an ICU nurse and picking up extra shifts to make enough money to cover all of her expenses. She’s immediately taken with Jake, even while he’s unconscious, but it’s when he wakes up that she sees what a charmer he really is.

I loved the interaction between Jake and Emily, they definitely had a great chemistry that kept me reading. Both Emily and Jake have issues they have to overcome and I appreciated that they worked through them together.

There was not as much angst as I expected, but I found that refreshing. Yes they have challenges and their own histories but I liked the pureness of this story. Jake is charming and confident and he had some amazing one-liners – not in the cheesy over the top way, but just amazing words where I felt my heart flutter a bit. Emily is sweet but tough and a little leery of whether Jake can accept all that is her life. She’s a fun and interesting character.

Overall Wrecked is an enjoyable book about love, second chances and taking chances.

I love all of Ayssa's books. They are all so beautifully written. This book was as well. The writing flowed smoothly and I was quickly wrapped up in the story. This is the third book in the Clayton Falls series and it was excellent.

I really enjoyed Jake's character in Veer and really wanted to read more of him. Getting to know Emily was fun too. She was a very likeable character and I felt for her throughout the entire story. Being in her situation is tough. Anyone going through her trials would be scared too.

Back to Jake, yummy. He's obviously a sexy stud. He's also the very thing that Emily is scared to death of. I think the way Jake was forced to give back to the community was a creative punishment and it made me like him more after a horrible situation.

The book had a very poetic storyline and a feel good ending. The only thing that I didn't like, was the lack of climactic situations. There were a few scenes that got close, but there was really no climax in the book. It was just one nice flowing story. Don't get me wrong, I love happy romances. This was just missing the trials and tribulations that I expected to go on.

This book was a great read overall and I think as with all of Alyssa's books, Wrecked is a must read. Be sure to pick up your copy when it releases! I give this addition to the Clayton Falls series four glittery stars for sucking me into a beautiful romance!

When Jake Matthews ends up in the hospital after a drunken, stupid mistake he meets Emily, his gorgeous nurse. Not able to fight off his charm and good looks, Emily begins a relationship with Jake. The two are off to a great start until Jake begins to learn about things that Emily has been hiding from him. Can Emily let the past go and open up her heart and life to Jake?

I really enjoyed this book. It was a very quick read and was the perfect thing to help me escape my hectic life, if only for a few hours. I liked that neither character was perfect and that they both had their flaws. I also loved the other characters in the book. If I had only one bad thing about this book it was that the relationship between Jake and Emily went at lightning speed. They dated, had sex, moved in with each other and got engaged, all within what seemed to be a few months. But hey, I guess that’s what some people enjoy in a romance, so I can’t complain.

When I first started this book I had no idea it was part of a series. I enjoyed this one so much and the other minor characters in it that I definitely plan on searching out the others and finding more out about Clayton Falls and its residents.
