I know when a book is a 5 star book because when I read it I feel both calm and inspired at the same time. This book was first published in 2002 so it's a shame I didn't discover it until 2017 because I collect retro tableware. I wish I had a copy when I first started collecting. I think it would've helped focus my design/brand choices.
Funny how the book's summary talks about the reemergence in popularity of fiestaware in the 80s, yet there's no fiestaware or any other more common tableware in this book. This book too leans British using many of the same interiors as other penned and photographed British midcentury design books. I understand the focus is on tableware and sometimes the author also includes descriptions of the furniture, lighting, textiles, and so on but inconsistently. Too often the other pieces in the photos upstage the tableware and are not mentioned.
