Amnesia

Rate this book
Do you remember your first pet? What about your first car? What is your earliest memory? What if everything you ever knew just disappeared? That is what happened to Drake Mannion, an innocent bystander who gets caught up in the machinations of an evil megalomaniac who calls himself “Marcuse.” Meanwhile, Dr. Clarissa “Lissa” Brandon gets stalked, harassed, and ends up running for her life to escape the atrocities of evil men who have conveniently “forgotten” the truths surrounding them. She and her friends pull together to defend themselves, and find that there are other memories, of connections and relationships once forgotten, which remain in force throughout the eternities. Our lives are really just a culmination of our memories. What we choose to remember, and to forget, guides our actions and makes us who we are. The question we must ask ourselves is this—“What have you forgotten?” AMNESIA—What have you forgotten?

Rick was born into a family of writers, and raised in a home filled with a love of words and learning, which has lent greatly to Rick's own style and works (his dad was an author in his own right, some of whose writings can be found at Rick's website www.RickSimnitt.com). Rick served in the England, Coventry LDS mission, then later moved to Boise, Idaho to help with his extended family. There he met his wife Heather and they were married in the Boise, Idaho LDS temple. They have three terrific children and currently reside in Kearns, Utah.

Rick loves music, woodworking, reading, serving in his church callings, and, of course, writing.

I found this book randomly in our local library and was intrigued that it was written about my hometown and from the perspective of my religion. The storyline is actually pretty good, but it is very unpolished. Several times I found myself thinking the author must have written the book verbally and had the computer transcribe it because of some strange wording and grammatical errors. There was at least one dream scene that seemed to be missing a huge chunk of it so it didn't even make sense and the main character is given 2 different physical descriptions. It's too bad it wasn't edited more carefully, it would be much easier and more pleasant to read.
