The turmoil in Susan’s life makes it difficult for her to find happiness, even after a night of passion with Josiah. When tragedy strikes Susan’s life, Josiah reaches out to comfort her, but the guilt she
So, this is where I am supposed to write a little about who I am. Well, here we go...
I am a woman who wears many hats. I am first and foremost Wife and Mother. Family time is the most important thing to me. Our family loves fishing, camping and anything outdoor. Year round we are also involved in watching our son play soccer. Next comes full time college student, author and photographer.
My life is filled with many joys, but writing is a passion that I have had since I was a kid. I feel very blessed to be able to share my work with the world and hope that you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
I finished this book two nights ago, and I have to say I really have mixed feelings about it. For the most part I liked the storyline. There were parts of it that I felt pushed the lines of believability, but the set up was decent. There were some issues though.
First, I'm not a grammar Nazi. Not by a long shot. With that being said, there were some glaring errors in this story. I noticed words missing letters several times, and there were also times when there were whole words left out. There was also a lot of telling and not showing. I was amazed at how little dialogue there was in the book. We spent more time in the characters heads than we did seeing them interact with one another.
My second issue has to do with the characters themselves. On this subject I'm a more torn. I liked Susan and Josiah, I did, but there were times when I wanted to shake them both, and slap some sense into them. Susan...her reactions were over the top at times, and her mood swings were off the charts. Josiah kept my interest with one glaring acceptation, and that one incident made me question if I still liked him as a character.
Talking to a friend after I finished reading this book, she questioned why, if I found so much wrong with the book would I be giving it three stars. My answer to her was that although there were things in the novel I didn't like, there were also points where I didn't want to stop reading. Its for that reason I'm rating this one as a three star read for me.
“Triple Shot” contains chapters that switch back and forth between the two main characters Josiah and Susan. From the moment they meet, there is instant attraction on both sides. However, Susan refuses to give in while Josiah is ready to shake things up. And after reading this book, I would let Josiah shake things up.
Speaking of shaking things up, Riley adds to the plot by including Josiah and Susan’s friends that keep the book entertaining. All the characters messed well together and made this book and quick and easy read.
The only downfall (in my eyes) was the Susan was just too head-strong. She was set in her ways of not giving into Josiah’s advances or letting anyone into her life to help out with what was going on. I know it would have put a different spin on the book if she were to open up, but it could have put a more romantic spin on “Triple Shot” if Josiah had been able to be by her side. ~BookWhisperer Reviewer MC~
I really had to push myself to finish this one. It wasn't really bad. I liked the concept of the story. It just got boring and seemed like it was going on FOREVER!! I felt no thrill, no excitement. I read it and was like "ok, What do I start now?" I HATE giving reviews like this. I really do. But with this one I just couldn't wait to finish it so I could start something else.
Paragraph after paragraph after paragraph. 97% tell and only 3% show! Where is the dialogue? Where is the characterization? Maybe this style of writing works for others but not me :( I rarely stop reading without finishing a book but I was just turning pages to get it over with so...
