When a handsome Irish stranger shows up at Lisle's front door, he's bringing more than just a chance at romance. He's carrying the secret of the phoenix, a mythical breed now truly on the verge of extinction. And hot on his heels are forces of destruction who will stop at nothing to seal forever the fate of the fabled firebird.
The Flames by T.C. Hale is a very engaging book. It kept me riveted to the last page, and I can't wait until the next one is published. (It's a series[!]) Also, the T.C. Hale who wrote this book did not write the other books under this name. This is her only published novel (so far). Lisle, Johann, and Garrett were always changing, which made the book cool. I kept going back and forth on Johann - is he bad? Do I still like him? Who do I want Lisle to like - Johann or Garrett?! Bjorn (even though he has a small role) is very funny. I always like books with a bit of humor. Overall, the book is an easy read and perfect for fantasy-lovers!
