A simple box can become a delightful embroidered treasure or special gift! All the boxes feature different materials and are superbly crafted inside and out, with carefully made and colorful linings to blend with the imaginatively decorated lids. Instructions for decorative needlework techniques feature full-color photos of finished projects, as well as diagrams and charts that cover each stitching step. The box styles to choose from include circular, square, and rectangular shapes, and drop-sided, fit-on, slip-in, or fit-over lids.
I don't like working with plastic canvas - it reminds me too much of projects you did when you were 10 (or at least, what I did ;) So, I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this book.
And while my "fears" were realized with the plastic canvas (eek), I really did like the overall box patterns and the patchwork patterns. Though I don't think I'll be creating any boxes anytime soon, I would love to get this book again (it was through my library's interlibrary loan) to try some of the designs out.
I have been working in plastic canvas and Aida to make boxes for a while, but this book had some good tips which I had not thought to do. I would recommend this book whether you have worked in plastic canvas or not.
