I was born and bred in Brooklyn, and have been a teacher in both Brooklyn and Staten Island for the past 19 years. After receiving my BA from Brooklyn College I was accepted into their MFA program. There had the great opportunity to study under the late Obie award winning playwright, Jack Gelber. I have written several once act plays, one of them, entitled the 'Partyline', had been performed at Brooklyn College, the Heights Players, and even at the Village Gate. Aside from plays I have written several spec scripts that are currently seeking a home.

My first novel is "Teaching Can Be Murder" which is available here as a Kindle title. A short story of mine, entitled Randy's Night Out is available in the new anthology Wake Up Dead which features great new horror stories by some great authors. That is available in paperback as well. Another story of mine is featured in the anthology Ten Silver Bullets, both in paperback and kindle formats. Tales For The Toilet contains what has been said to be my grossest story to date.

100 Doors to Madness has my latest short story contribution, and I m working on several new horror novellas as well as a collaborative effort in the humorous mystery genre.

June 27th I will be making my debut appearance at Scares That Care weekend in Williamsburg VA.

If you're a fan of the Supernatural TV series, this book is definitely something you want to check out. If you're a fan at all of horror based on biblical demons, same deal. This is a must read.

Lilith is walking the earth and she is hellbent on getting what she wants. She will stoop to the lowest and most vile lows of sexual depravity if that is what it takes. The author gives us liberal doses gore and erotica, and also drops some well researched art history the reader.

Castagna's prose flows with ease and the dialogue never feels "stock" or redundant. His work is structured in such a way that you know he has read a ton of books and is educated on the concept of story building, and every word smells of his passion for the craft.

I granted this book 5 stars because not only was I in no way disappointed, but I was dying for more. If this book became a series I would devour every volume. If demons and gore aren't your thing, this might not be for you. But if you're like me and you absolutely love that combination more than anything else, stop what you're doing and read this book. It's a short commitment with major payoff.

The evil forces that are all around and among us can pounce whenever they desire. Douglas Vance Castagna unleashes one of the most evil female entities known to man on his readers…and leaves them wondering if they too will fall victim as her prey in the future.

A man paints a masterpiece. The painting embodies evil…beautiful evil. The piece of art embodies Lilith and makes her a possession of the masterpiece’s owner. She doesn’t want to be controlled or owned.

With wicked, evil vengeance, Lilith takes by force what won’t be given willingly.

A woman and a friend of the artist meet in a gallery in front of the masterpiece. Sparks ignite between them and things progress.

The artist dies… He has been murdered.

More strange murders occur, and the friend of the artist thinks he has things figured out only to realize too late that he too has been deceived and is now at risk.

Will they be able to stop Lilith with the help of some unexpected supernatural head hunters? Or will they all fall to their doom at Lilith’s feet?

I genuinely liked this story. There were a few flaws in editing, and the scene changes were abrupt and unexpected considering it was such a short story, but it was still good. I figured out what was going on before I was told, even the female twist (you’ll know what I mean by that once you’ve read the book). There were a few places where there was graphic sexual content, which doesn’t bother me, but might bother some. I think it added an intense fun factor to the overall story.

This is a good read with a great story line and flow. The characters are easy to follow and it holds your attention throughout. Once I started this book I did not put it down until I finished it. There are some hot sexual scenes as well as gore and at times you may cringe as you think of the pain some of the characters go through.

Good and fun read and remember be careful who you lust after you just may get them.

Succubi might not be as popular as vampires or zombies, but these sexy female demons have nonetheless suffered from all kinds of usage in the horror genre. It's been enough to make me cringe when a book description includes them. Thankfully, Douglas Vance Castagna's Lust steps away from what's been done and is a wild, gory ride with echoes of things as diverse as actress Angie Everheart and Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray.
