Two stars. Barely.

More cussing. Sorry.

Fantasy Ending with some spoilers...
How should this end? The h's worthless ex-husband who wanted NO part of his own baby; signed away all paternity; started to badmouth the h, and used his connections to judges to get the house? Yeah, him. He gets outed by his new wife with the big boobs as having an STD and lying about having a vasectomy. (She wanted kids.) New wife ends up with the house he blocked the H from getting as it turns out that her father, the judge, believes in retribution. Too bad it didn't happen that way.

The narrow-minded and judgmental parents of the h find out about the ex husband they have verbally supported and are partially shunned by townsfolk for turning their backs on the daughter. They live sad, lonely lives eating TV dinners as their finances dwindle because they have to pay a caretaker to come in.

The long-lost adopted daughter comes back, still bitter, but is open to making a whole new family.

Awesome emotional read,i really cried on few scenes my heart went out to Maddy and Luke god he suffered in his own ways

When Maddy was seventeen and Luke a young rodeo rider meet they have a four day affair which results in Maddy getting pregnant and having a baby girl, which she is forced to give up for adoption, now twenty years later she is divorced and having a high-risk pregnancy when she seeks out Luke, who is one of the best doctors for this kind of pregnancy to help her.

Guilt-Remorse-Shame is such a emotions that breaks and shatters a person brutally from inside, either the person sinks in it and its too late or redeems and sails through it and emerges out as a new better person which happens in Luke's case, when he lost his daughter and let the person whom he loved down, the guilt, shame was so much that for 1 year he was totally in a mess but he finally stops and decides to redeem himself n become a person that Maddy can be proud of and look at the way he battles his own hurdles and he emerges as a doctor,i m so so proud of him, adored him so much and really cried for him least Maddy saw her daughter, got to be with her for 4 days but Luke he did'nt even get the glimpse of his daughter and on top of that the shame and guilt of letting Maddy down,he is such a brave man ,loved him

Maddy even she suffered first her cold parents and then Luke breaks her heart and on top of that giving away her daughter after birth and then that disgusting selfish mean cold cheating husband of hers but i really loved the fact Maddy stood for herself in front of her mother, wanted to be mother to her child and was so so happy she became a mother and even got Jenny back

Scenes that really made me cried
-when Maddy tells Luke-Jenny looked like him same eyes, hair
-Maddy shares how she had to give away Jenny and she was told they did'nt want the baby to bond with her and vice-versa
-It is revealed how Luke was rehearsed all the proposal lines evenw ore a tie but when he came Maddy was already married and his reason for being late was the tailor was sewing his coat
-Luke tells Maddy he loves her but Maddy says she does'nt wants to rush(which i understand from Maddy's POV but poor Luke after 22 years when he finally says the words its thrown back in its face
-Jenny shows up,she is angry and says some hurtful things and when Maddy tells everything to Luke about Jenny
-Finally Maddy has a boy and when she tells Luke he is the father of the baby they finally confess their love
-At the end Jenny comes with her son,Luke brings them and finally Luke's dream of his family comes true

Also loved the fact the doctor who had made Maddy give up her baby for adoption when comes to know how Luke had changed become such a good person he knew he had to have a chance and he refers Maddy Luke as a doctor and also confesses how he made Maddy to give up the baby in front of Luke,he also redeems himself

This is my second book by this author and what i really loved was that her characters always, come alive with their own unique problems, doubts and emotions.she has become my all time fav author, will try to get all her books

Excellent read,definetely a keeper

Maddy and Luke the hero and heroine are two such troubled people. We have met Luke in all the previous books of the series, he is a great doctor, a work alcoholic but he's haunted by his failures, he was 9 when his mother abandoned him with his father was no good, and he left school and joined the rodeo. On one of his stops he met Maddy and fell in love, he promised her that he would be back for her with a ring but he didn't atleast not until it was too late. Unknown to him Maddy got pregnant and waited for him, her parents were two uncaring people and along with her doctor forced a 17 year old girl with no choices to give up her baby. When Luke arrives Maddy is so raw that she tells him to leave and he does because the guilt is too much and he doesn't want to hurt her anymore. Luke then tries his best to destroy his life but one day he decides to become a better man for Maddy, he goes back to high-school and completes his medical(despite facing humiliation, financial difficulties and badly injuring himself on the circuit). Maddy dedicated herself to become a perfect person for her cold judgmental parents and even marries a cold man for that, she stifles her real joyful self. When these two meet again it is 22 years later, and Maddy is pregnant(which is a surprise since there were complications with her first pregnancy), her rat of a husband who never wanted kids, wants to divorce her and Maddy's doctor says that she needs special supervision and recommends Luke who is an expert in the field. Maddy overcomes her objections for her child and Luke agrees since he wants to make up for what he put Maddy through. The reason I liked the book was because we saw genuine remorse in Luke and the book showed how people find it difficult to over-come losing a child even if it to adoption. Slowly, Luke learns to forgive herself and Maddy too begins to heal, she also learns to let go of the control her parents have on her. It was wonderful seeing them evolve and then grow closer to each other. Luke also respects that doctor-patient agreement and before anything happens between them hands her over to another doctor. For me Luke was the best part of this book and seeing the rest of the gang was great too.

3.5 stars.

First off, if sex during pregnancy isn't your bag, you don't wanna read this one as the h is around 6 months along at the beginning. Second off, being a parent myself, I was variously skeptical and/or incredulous about some of the lengths gone to in order to arrange the H and the h's interaction.

A long long time ago, in a galaxy far away, our h found herself exceedingly attracted to a young bronc buster who rented a hotel room and made sure the sheets were clean (what a guy...). They used protection but it had a leak apparently. They promised to write, then he stopped. He showed up on the doorstep 2 weeks after her parents and the Dr had pressed her to give the baby up for adoption. She more or less told him to go to hell.

We find out as the story goes along, 5 or 6 years later he went back, armed with a bs and a ring, only to discover he'd put it off a day too late because he almost blundered into her wedding reception.

:ahem...

The h had difficulties with her first, which lead to her being subfertile. The guy she married did not want kids. She got preggers at around the age of 39, upon which he told her it was either him or the baby. Since she's still preggers, obviously she preferred the baby. The Dr tells her she's high risk and recommends the H as the best in the country (incredulous moment no. 1 - only one OB in the country? Seriously?!)

So she goes, and over the course of the book, she gets under his skin (among other things), has to deal with the douchebag ex (who unsatisfyingly enough, is never really dealt with), has the long lost daughter show up, and confusingly enough for me, doesn't really give her the real answer as to why she adopted her out (really, why would you make excuses instead of just saying your parents made you?). Shortly after the daughter showed up, she called the H and told him. He came over and while she was talking, she had a sudden bad complication which resulted in a race to the hospital and him having to do an emergency section. I'd look it up but my recollection is that even if you're in the hospital when it happens, that one doesn't always lead to a good outcome. She's at 8 months and the baby isn't even 5 pounds

Now granted, I always had rather hefty kids but that's close enough to almost not be a premmie so the weight seems a bit...low. No info given how long he was in the neonatal unit either. The impression I was given was they went home at the same time so maybe a couple of days if that?

To be honest, I was mostly ok with the H/h. Mostly. It's just that the surroundings got in the way.

Luke and Maddy have a history. 22 years ago they were teenagers in love, and Maddy ended pregnant. Unfortunately, Luke didn't made it back in time, and Maddy gave their daughter to adoptions.

Fast-forward to present. Maddy's pregnant and it's a high-risk pregnancy in which Luke specializes. They have to come to term with the past as well fight the attraction, so that Luke can do his best to save Maddy's baby.

Both Luke and Maddy were changed by the past. It made Luke ambitious, he finished high school, went to Stanford to study medicine. But Maddy married a man she didn't love, a man that did his best to stifle her.

I love Luke's patience in wooing Maddy, he's a great guy, if stubborn.

We also get to see more from the Maternity Row gang.

I love this book. It's an emotional read, it actually made me cry (that doesn't happen often). Highly recommended.
