I'm in love with everything has a relation with bullet journals, books talking about them, prompts, colors, pens, pencils, glittering pens, colored papers... etc. I started bujoing *some of us who bullet journal use this as a verb lol!* since this April, a lot of things changed and I have a lot of memories from this year! ( bad, good, sad, happy, ugly, cute... ). My sister started bujoing bcz of me but her journal looks better than mine now lol ! Mommy always brings us stuff we need to journal and I'm thankful coz she is supporting our weirdness ! * I love You Mommy ❤*
If you aren't keeping a journal, go buy one and start making art even if you aren't crafty and creative and can't draw ! *like me 😂*.. making memories is great. I just want that the future me be thankful coz i saved a lot of memories to her ❤.. i want also to let my children see what life their mom had and how she felt in love with their daddy! 🙈
As an avid and creative journaller, I found this book a pretty good add in to my already chatty and detailed journal, that said, it was fun to use many of the prompts. Recomme ded for anyone at any level.
I loved working with Krystal in her Roots class and these prompts will keep me busy in my Art journal when I feel at a loss for my own sense of artistic direction.
An interesting primer for starting or using a journal
Never having kept a journal before I was looking for a basic overview. This provides a good primer on what to look at when starting a journal. A worthwhile read.
If you keep a journal, think about writing down your life, like to color, write poetry and a million other things with making marks on paper, you need to read this! It'll give you ideas, a better brain, longer life & dare I say it? FUN!!!! I dare you....
The book is lovely. Some good ideas, and all different styles too. A lot I have found especially for creative journaling suggest painting. But I much prefer these.
Things that are helpful to know about this book: * It has colored illustrations (so downloading it on your Smartphone is, well, smarter than downloading it on your Kindle Paperwhite) * It is VERY short (think 25 pages kind of short) * Prompts that it offers could be found online on various blogs * More art journal oriented than "regular" journaling (but not focused solely on art journaling) * Has more specific multi-media art journal suggestions at the end
However, I'm glad I got it - and I'm glad it's short (and I'm glad I downloaded it on my phone) - because I can carry it with me now to use anywhere (even if I don't have access to WiFi and don't want to use data for whatever reason). I like the fact it's short because I can page through it quickly and see a variety of prompts, which are categorized by topic.
I also really like the inclusion of art journal pages that Kristal Norton (and yes, it is Kristal, at least according to her book/Amazon) has done. One is included per topic section, and her completed pages also act as prompts by themselves.
I've already used one of the prompts in it to do a page in my art journal today. :) Some of the prompts I may not use, others I may use in a more therapeutic sense to work through some things I struggle with. Others are good prompts and as mentioned above, ones I'm glad that I have to carry around with me.
The Good There were some interesting prompts in this book, and I will be using a few to generate some writing topics on my blog or even some video prompts for a few Youtube videos.
The Bad The prompts, while good, were pretty generic in a lot of ways. Also a lot of them tended to feel like they were more for an art journal rather than a regular journal even though they were supposedly for both.
The Review Overall, this wasn't a bad read. I will be using some of the prompts in the future, just not a lot of them. Certainly not as many as I would have liked to have been able to use.
I highlighted quite a few prompts from this book, but also found that many of them can be found by doing a simple web search. I may just keep this on hand for when I've hit a block.
Good for anyone looking to get to know themselves better. One of my favorite questions: "What TV family would you want to join? Why?" How would YOU answer this question?
When your creativity is feeling a little sluggish. The prompts presented here were interesting and fun. Will print out the pdf provided and use as suggested.
