Existence is the first instalment from the Synthetics' Society serial book.

Orian “Ryan” Griffith has finished school and is going to be starting his next term in a local village. A safe haven for all walks of magical life.

However, when Ryan’s human friends give him a send off, there’s a little bit more than alcohol in his punch. It’s a concoction his sister had been using with her friends. A potion to give the drinker temporary magical abilities. And without the correct reversal potion, they could be stuck that way.

To make matters worse, they've attracted a whole host of unsavoury magical creatures. And they’re after blood.

JOSEPH EASTWOOD was born on the 9th of June 1993, in Lancaster, England, although he’s fairly certain that he’s only a visitor on Earth. Wait unless you’re the with government, in which case, Joseph is a human being with human interests, such as reading, and not dissecting human beings in order to use them in his—ahem—fiction.

He has many writing interests, including young adult, poetry, fantasy, thriller, and even romance, so make sure that you look at the recommended age guidelines before you pick up your next JOSEPH EASTWOOD book.

Joseph Eastwood
Existence
Synthetics' Society #1

The main message of this book, do not read anything from unlabelled jars! Unfortunately for Ryan and his friends, they do and things just go downhill from there. Ryan’s friends have no idea who he really is, and are not prepared when they discover the truth – whilst fighting for their lives.

I have read several books by this author, and am never disappointed. Magical, with a darker side, this book is well written with great character development.

I can’t wait to see where it all leads for Ryan and his friends in Creature and Gemini’s Child.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Remind me never to drink from strange jars found under floor boards!! Unfortunately, for Ryan's friends, that was too little too late. What will become of them? What will the potion do to them? This was a great teaser into the world of "Synthetic Society". Lots of action, magic and mystery. Very much looking forward to the rest of this series, and learning about Ryan's magic and of course "Synthetics"!!

This appears at first to be a very strange read but it is a great introduction to Ryan and his friends who have been accidentally introduced to his world of magic. From enjoying the idea of a party without adult supervision to very rapidly turning into their worst nightmare come true the group of young people come face to face with the stuff of direst imagination and have to face the very real prospect of never seeing normality again.

The story seems very ragged in this first book of a series and at times doesn't seem particularly coherent but the possibilities for the sequel are limitless and very appealing. The characters are raw but again have a vast potential to become a whole lot more in the follow on books.

All in all the book held my attention from beginning to end and I will, in all probability, buy the sequels to continue the story.

Existence is a magical tale of a group of friends who think they're in for some fun together, but it turns out they're in for more than they bargained for! The book has many heart pulsing moments and moves at a fast pace, so it can be finished in one sitting. There are many cliffhangers, making this book impossible to put down.

I'm definitely a fan of the Synthetics Society, and I can't wait until book 2 comes out.
