It seemed to me, then, that love exists balanced on the edge of a knife, with self-doubt on one side and temptation on the other. And if you succumb to both, there's nothing for you but to be sliced in half, right down the middle of your wanting heart.

I was so, so close to the blade of that knife.

To save the girl he loves, Will Mallory destroyed his only means of returning to his own world, a decision that lays heavily on Will and Cara as they try to navigate the new life--the human life--they're building together. In the sequel to the acclaimed Caterpillar, a horrifying mistake sends a frantic Cara on a mission to the other side of the country to find James Napolitano, Will's genetic twin. Meanwhile, Will is stalked by a woman from his past, who promises to teach him the control of his Eolian abilities that he's sorely lacking, but at a price that may be too high for he and Cara both.

Temptation and danger lurk at every turn as Cara and Will are forced to confront their greatest fear: that the love they've nearly died for may not be enough.

I have to say that Kate Oliver has created a world like no other. When I read Caterpillar I was captivated right from the beginning of Will and Cara's story. They had to endure so much and fought hard for what they believed in and what they wanted and in the end Will made the greatest sacrifice and decided that love was what he wanted and could not live without Cara. Love is such a strong emotion I think we forget sometimes the things we are willing to do for love and the things we do in the name of love.

In the continuation of Caterpillar in Cocoon Will has made the biggest decision of his life. He has decided to leave Eolian behind and follow his heart. He loves Cara and no matter what he tries to do he wants to be with her. The heart knows what it wants and it wants Cara. Will knows they have an up hill battle but it does not matter to him because he will fight for Cara. As Will and Cara try to navigate through life Cara is deciding what she will do about College and Will has to decide what he will do. Will has not really thought about the tomorrows because he wants to live in the today with Cara.

Then something happens and Cara will travel across the country to find James Napolitano who is Will's genetic twin. They need his help in order to get through this latest bump in the road. But while Cara is out looking for James Will is being stalked by another Eolian who wants to teach him how to use his powers. But what does she really want from Will? Anya thinks she can bring Will back to their world but Will has no interest in going anywhere where Cara is not.

Will Cara be able to find what she needs? Will Will stay true to Cara? Love is a strong emotion and one that guides Will so where will love lead them.......

Well, this is the second book in the trilogy. I personally, liked book one more than this one. Though this book wasn't bad. I enjoyed it also. Will and Cara relationship is growing. There are some strains though. Will feels guilty about going 'Poof' when they get to intimate. Cara feels they are meant to be together. Though they would like there relationship go to the next level, she doesn't feel that they should end it. She is getting ready for college. She is starting to interview for them. She and Will have decided to live together when she starts college and Will is going to start college with her(again).

Everything changes when another Eolian from Will's past finds him. She is a little bit on the crazy side though. She wants Will to come back with her. Though Will doesn't want anything do with her, she is able to tell/teach him to keep his form. He is very tempted. He never knew their was a way to keep form when getting overly excited. This could change things for him and Cara. Will he be able to get rid of this female Eolian before she harms anyone he has come to love.

Something happens that sends Cara to the other coast to look for Will's genetic twin. How will Cara react meeting the 'human' version of Will. Especially, when his genetic twin takes an interest in her. Will her feeling for Will prevail? How far will Will and Cara go to stay together. We will find out in the final book.

Then there is her sister Liz. There is something up with Liz. We aren't to sure what is going on, until the end. Will, finds out the truth about Liz and confronts her.

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. I read it every free chance I had and once I hit the last quarter of the book, I could not put my Nook down!

Cocoon was a good sequel to Caterpillar. I did find some parts, particularly the beginning, to be kind of slow. But the end had a lot of action and has me on the edge of my seat to read the final book in this series. I cannot wait to see what decision Cara makes.

Sometimes I felt that Cara and Will's relationship was too intense given Cara's age and their unique circumstances. They are clearly in love but it was a bit too much for me. Their love and attachment just doesn't feel right to me in this book. There is a definite change from the first book, in my opinion. I did like that Cara does have doubts and starts to question things...especially considering what she would have to give up.

The introduction of James was intriguing. I am wondering what will come of that relationship in the third book. And Liv is just as great in this book as she was in the first. (I'm not going to give anything away...but Oh, Liv!)

Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book. If you haven't already, be sure to read book #1, Caterpillar.

Will I read it again: I will not read this book again but I cannot wait to read book #3 in The Metamorphosis Trilogy. I hope I don't have to wait too long to see how this story ends!!!
