About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

குற்ற உணர்ச்சி என்பதே சிறிதும் இல்லாமல் புரியப்படும் குற்றங்களினால் ஏற்படும் விளைவுகளின் கதை. சமுதாயத்தின் பல தளங்களில் இயங்கும் பலருக்கும் சட்டம் எவ்வாறு தனித்தனி விதங்களில் செயல்படுகிறது என்பதை அழுத்தமான irony-யுடன் பதிவு செய்கிறது. பெரும்பாலான போலீஸ் கதைகள் காவல்துறையினறை மேலோட்டமாகவே சித்தரிக்கும். ஆனால், சுஜாதா காவல் நிலையத்தில் தங்கி அதன் செயல்பாடுகளை நேரடியாக ஆராய்ந்து எழுதியதால் ஒரு காவல்துறை அதிகாரியின் நிஜ வாழ்வு எவ்வாறு இருக்கும் என்ற அரிதான உண்மை நமக்குத் தெரிகிறது.

ஒரு பெண்ணிற்கு வரும் ஒரு ஆபாச அழைப்பு , சைகோ இளைஞன் ஒருவனிடமிருந்து . அவன் த்ரில்லுக்காக அவளின் பெண் குழந்தையை கடத்தி செல்கிறான் .

ஒரு தேர்ந்த பூட்டுடைப்பவன் ஒருவன் தன்னுடைய சாமர்த்தியத்தை நிரூபிக்க எண்ணி ஒரு நகை கடையை கொள்ளையடிக்க திட்டமிடுகிறான் .

ஒரு காதல் ஜோடி பெற்றோர் எதிர்ப்புடன் கமிஷனர் அலுவலகம் வருகிறார்கள் .

இந்த மூன்று வெவ்வேறு வித சூழல்கள் எவ்வாறு கையாள படுகிறது , ஒவ்வொரு கதாபாத்திரத்தின் மனஓட்டம் எவ்வாறு செல்கிறது என அலசுகிறது . காவல் நிலையத்தின் பரபரப்பையும் அவர்கள் தினந்தோறும் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சவால்களையும் எடுத்துரைக்கிறது .

The story was written in 1980's.

The police department is facing two different crime and love issue at a time.

An young spoiled brought up man name Sunil is kidnapping a kid for a sadistic pleasure.

Another story revolve around Arumugam, who is an expert in burglary, planning to burgle in a jewellary shop.

Another story is a matter of love between a rich girl and an average looking intelligent man.

The story describe how the police tackle every issue, and describe how a socially influenced person escape from punishment and how an ordinary person suffer from the same.

The story is apt for today's scenario too.

இப்படி மூன்று வழக்குகள் காவல் துறையை நாட , மூன்றிலும் காய்கள் சமகாலமாக நகர, காவல் துறை உதவி ஆணையரின் சாமர்த்தியம், பொறுமை , வெறுப்பு, கோபம், ஏமாற்றம் என்று அனைத்து உணர்வுகளையும் தழுவி ஓடும் விறுவிறுப்பான நாவல்.

Vasantha kaala kutrangal a very good and nice book I have read.. sujatha never disappoint the reader who loves his writing always.This book speaks about the crime incidents happened in Karnataka.

The story depicts three cases filed in a police station during a spring season.

1.Premalatha, wife of film distributor.she starts to get these obnoxious phone calls from a teenager sunil. sunil is psychotic,drug addict,spoiled of high class kid. he starts to harass premalatha verbally and blackmailed her to sleep with him.when she contacted the police, he went a step far and kidnapped her child.

2.Arumugam, a burglar who recently came out of prison has a brilliant plant for robbing a jewellery shop with the help of his call-girl friend followed by a ultimate heist and a hilarious episode of him being caught.

3.Prasana, he loves rita,daughter of ex-military officer agarwal, as their love was opposed by their parents, agarwal kept her daughter hidden from prasana, resulting in prasana's suicide's.

The stories are narrated from authors perspective, the above three stories happening on same city, but they have no connection to each other.only thing they have in connection was assistant commissioner prabagar.

The book was written in the format that stories jump from scene to scene, so that we can know that all the things are happening simultaneously, it also adds the thrill to the story. i was hoping that all the stories are somehow going to collide with each other at some point of story, it was little disappointing.but the end was an satisfactory one(especially the epilogue).

Premalatha case was highlighted in the book, looking overall.prasana story was very short one.most of the characters lack development ,that's the problem when writing a story with many sub plots.most character left one-dimensional.

A Good and engaging mixture of COP story + Pshyco Thriller + Heist sequences.

Sujatha designed a dangerous baddie character called "SUNIL" which is double violent and brutual than "Amuthan" of Vettaiyadu Vilayadu.

Heist sequences are pakka ultimate one.
Nice to know that Sujatha stayed in Jolarpet police station for 2 days to use police terms well into this story.

I had trouble placing this book down upon start! The way the three "spring time crimes" were presented truly played against each other and made you forget the other crimes while you were reading one! The descriptions were so well written as well, they played out like a cinema mentally. A definite treasure of Sujatha's. 😊
