THE SETTING Llanfair is a charming village high in the beautiful Welsh mountains of Snowdonia. It is peopled by a cast of quirky characters, including the butcher Evans-the-Meat, the dairyman Evans-the-Milk, the postman Evans-the-Post, two warring Methodist ministers, their more aggressively warring wives. Stories which were woven into an enjoyable experience
I enjoyed this series of nine books. I liked following Evan and his career in the police force. The characters were well fleshed out and very authentic. Each story added to the insight into the life of a village constable, his friends and colleagues.I loved the mix of drama and humour, which kept me entertained for many hours.
Wasn't sure that a small Welsh Village could produce good stories - Wrong thank goodness
As I see by my 'title's I was worried there wouldn't be enough material to produce a good set of stories. Luckily, the writer, Rhys Bowen, has a better imagination and knowledge of his lovely Welsh areas. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey taken by the cast of characters in these stories.
These books are wonderful, the characters and description of the Welsh counryside are so true to live near where the books are written, so I really enjoyed them I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys police stories .
What a brilliant storyline I’ve never read any of these books before but I literally got the full set and I wasn’t disappointed hopefully there will be more to come
