Grace Johnson sweeps readers back to Scotland in the 1880s in Scottish Shores #1: Tempest at Stonehaven. Adventure and mystery surround the supposedly abandoned Dunnottar Castle, an imposing structure along the coast of the North Sea. Davey Morrison has come to Stonehaven to stop a group of wreckers, who lure ships to their destruction, and to meet the woman with whom he shares a dark secret. Through their mutual experiences they learn that God is with them always, even in times of want and danger. Romance fans of all ages will enjoy this stormy Scottish thriller.
I don't know if I have ever read anything by Grace Johnson but I really liked this book. At first I thought the beginning was slow but then I realized it took that time to get the characters set in place for the story to be so interesting. I'll need to look to see if I have read anymore of Grace Johnson and if not then I will be reading more.
Definately not the genre that I would search out to read, romance is best as a side dish not the main course. However I read this because of its setting, which is Dunnottar Castle, in Scotland. The story is well written with only a few inaccuracies in the accent. (Kin for Can is incorrect). The book did provide much needed descriptions of Dunnottar and other valueable info about the area. Its a good read if you like romance with a smattering of Christian values.
