Vintage SMP. Usual Sunil fare. A treat for fans of Sunil. A whodunnit and murder mystery. All the typical sunilian elements are present.
It is a blatant copy of Perry Mason novel "Case of a howling dog" by Erle Stanley Gardner.

Only die hard fans can enjoy this. The plot is convoluted and confusing. SMP replaced Dog with a Cow. This made it laughable.

Chirag told Sunil and Ramakant about the cow. Why didn't he tell them about his suspicion about Shashi's safety?

The will was totally out of blue and unrealistic. It made no sense.

Then Sunilian pudia about the Vrunda's handkerchief and fake letter to police is non sensical.

It was full of plot holes and the case was solved by Ramakant and not Sunil. Every information is give to him. Sunil did nothing except misleading the police. And top of that all no explanation was given how he came to know that the dead bodies were buried in the bungalow parking itself.

Boring and bizarre.

Bhakshak -

A man - Chirag Kasniwal - approaches Sunil and Ramakant with two seemingly unrelated requests.

First, he has questions about the requirements for drafting a will including whether the will would be valid if he were executed for murder.

Then he complains about his neighbor's yelling, screaming and howling Cow which is keeping him up at night.

Sunil reaches out to the neighbor who insists there's no problem and that Chirag Kasniwal is mentally unstable.

Then comes the mystery.

Chirag Kasniwal disappears with the neighbor's wife and later on, the neighbor himself is found murdered.

Sunil has to unravel the sordid affairs of the dead man, find the person he's supposed to represent, and unmask the real killer.

The mystery is incredibly complex and engaging with an amazing amount of twists and turns.

The story of two wealthy neighbors, who make no secret of despising one another, both claim that they're married to the same women.

The solution to the mystery manages to have its cake and eat it too, but to tell more would spoil it.

Awesome work by SMP Ji.

Its a Classic.

My first brush with SMP's works. Was utterly fascinated by the plot and of course the dashing hero - Sunil Chakravarti. Had some issues with the over indulgence of some characters like Anil Kapur, the sub inspector, but the novel was better than sum of its parts.
Loved it and started the perilous journey of getting hold of his other novels.
