This was just the right food for my mood. I liked how the dream was not confused with the love, that give and take goes both ways, love the food as always. One little niggle But the rest went down deliciously mostly the fact that they did not hide the hurt.
Cute story set with everyday characters doing their everyday jobs. Very different from the other stories by this author, except with the same great character development
I've just found out that Jesse Hajicek also wrote fics besides the masterful The God Eaters. This is a great little gem, you don't see a way out from the situation Scott and Dane are in, . Very realistic, there is humor in it, but the author doesn't try too hard to be funny. For something longer, not related, see Kastor Chronicles (warning: part 3 is sadly not complete).
I don't remember the last time reading a short story had my eyes welled up. Dane's comment when he and Scott finally had the time to talk before Scott left the restaurant for good broke my heart. Often we unintentionally take the loved one for granted that their dreams are the same as our dreams, and ignorance becomes the point of contention. I'm just glad in this story the conflict is resolved and they both get a happy ending that has been so long overdue.
