Alice is in a coma, Malcolm is missing... and Ian is trying to keep his cool under the pressure of finals. Can’t he just catch a break? Doesn’t seem like it, after getting bitten by the bug species taking over the school, and... hearing one of the bugs talk? Is this it? Has he cracked? Or is there something more sinister happening here?
Eh, it’s probably just a bunch of weird bugs, right?

Underdogs: The Infestation is the sequel in the trilogy, following the events in Underdogs: The Dream. This time, the POV shifts to Ian as we follow him while Alice is in a coma. Along the way, he makes friends and enemies. Ian also has to deal with school examinations and enigmas, such as what's with the bugs in Vema?
If you read the first book, you would know that it ended in a steep cliffhanger (which was riveting).
I promise you that you will not be disappointed if you read this story! K. Weikel has found a way to end this chronicle in a dramatic finish. If you thought the conclusion for the first book was captivating, wait until you find out what happens at the climax of this story.
This novella contains a blend of genres, such as Sci-Fi, horror, fantasy, mystery, and romance. The mix of categories creates a path of high-reading engagement for book lovers.
The diverse vocabulary in this tale, as well as the bonus content at the end of the story, are both pluses.
In my opinion, this is a worthy follow-up and is a cut above the series' first adventure.
❄️ Alice is found injured and is sent to the hospital and Malcolm is gone missing.
❄️ Ian her best friend wants to see her but is restricted. He has his finals coming up.
❄️ That was not it when Ian gets bitten by a bug. Making things crazier is that the bug can talk.
❄️ The whole school can see a lot of these bugs around. Many of the kids get bitten by this bug and are falling sick.
Is Ian gone insane? Or is something sinister happing in Vema? Read this book to know the mystery of the bugs.
This is book 2 in the Underdogs series. It's a short read and can be read in one sitting. This book focuses more on Ian as the MC. The mystery keeps you hooked till the end. I like the way Ian does not lose hope in his friend. The twists in the story were unexpected. Overall an entertaining read. Can't wait for book 3 in the series to unfold the mystery.
Amazing This book is definitely getting 5 star rating from me . It's just the book i was waiting to read after the first underdogs book . The book is beautifully written . The bug concept made it so interesting. I was reading in full speed to learn what happened next . It was unpredictable. Alice in coma did a twist turn which I wasn't expecting after book 1 . Just waiting for the third book. So badly want to know the whole mystery . The world the author created is epic . The children are taught to fight in battles and many interesting concept like sword fighting is present in their school Recommended to everyone
Falling naturally into the second part with the another pov. This time is Ian who needs to embrace himself and be there for his friend and in same time dealing with secret, school exam and a war that isn't too far. Is hard for him to make friends around as he always was beside Alice and more who to trust with his revelation. As we approach the end when another crafted cliffhanger wait for us showing how good Author is to keep all on our toes for the third book. This is all to say that i love the second book as much as I love the first one!
This is the perfect follow up to book one. I really loved the characters here. The story actually seemed to move faster…probably because it had less parts to it. We got another cliffhanger too. I’m really enjoying this series and I can’t wait for book three.
I really enjoyed this book !! I loved it being from Ian’s pov as I loved him in the first book and was so excited this. The bug idea was amazing and added just that little extra to the story. It constantly had me on edge especially the ending I can not wait till the next book comes out. I need more Ian in my life !!
Introducing the second book in my Underdogs Series: The Infestation! I hope you enjoy reading from Ian's point of view. I'm really excited about this series, and I hope you are too.
I received this book as an advanced reader copy and this review is voluntary.
These books leave off on cliffhangers! Good thing the author wastes NO TIME swinging right back into the story! K. Weikel KEEPS SERVING UP ENTERTAINING AF BOOKS. I cannot wait for book three. I do NOT remember the last YA to not have explicit/spicy intereactions/relationships between characters. I understand and fully okay with teens being sexual beings as we all are. My problem is it being ALL there is for YA books to have and the problem in American society with hyper sexualizing our youths. This series is such a refreshing addition to the Sci-Fi YA genre. The last series I remember to be clean enough to buddy read with your CHILDREN AND TEENS is Harry Potter by Anon writer and A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Note: there is more but none too recently.
I loved all these characters except for...Ian. He is one dimensional still and Alice is his WHOLE BUTT PERSONALITY. I would have only rated this book four stars for this but the rest of the book's qualities saved that. While I adore how he cares for her, c'mon my boy, not your whole personality. We get to see more of Isis and Mrs. Cole! (I adore them.) I cannot wait for Alice to come back. And, I really love Cole and Malcom. Book three will be from Malcom's POV. It has been a LONG while where I have seen POVs used in this manner where each book takes off right at the part the prior one ends where a different character is required to continue. I really love it. K. Weikel needs to bless me with book three and more already!
Tropes: save the world, dystopian, HS romance, YA romance, alien invasion
Review: This is the second book for K. Weikel in the Underdog series and this time we get to read from Ian’s POV. While the book chronicles his journey through school during Alice’s coma, I found myself liking his character less and less since he is so adamant that Alice is not for anyone but him.
Ian loves Alice and I feel like this story will not end well for him but I am hoping we see him mature and move on from his crush. I did enjoy how he began to expand his view point of his friend group and the invasion of new species.
The main conflict in book 2 is the spread of an unknown illness that Ian thinks is related to the beetles that are infesting the school and homes. I thought Ian’s character was very intelligent and liked how his thoughts and mind worked but felt like I wanted more about the events that ended book 1.
The ending was surprising and I am looking forward to book 3 and getting more Malcolm.
