Australian Darlene Zschech is acclaimed all over the world as a singer, songwriter, worship leader and speaker, most notably for her involvement in the music from Hillsong Church, Sydney over many years. Although she has achieved numerous gold albums and her songs are sung in many nations of the world, her success simply stands as a testimony to her life’s passion to serve God and people with all her heart. Darlene, alongside her husband Mark, are Senior Pastors of Hope Unlimited Church on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia.

As a songwriter, Darlene is perhaps most famous for the chorus “Shout to the Lord,” a song that is sung by millions of churchgoers every week and has been covered by many other artists. “Shout to the Lord” was nominated as Album of the Year for the 1997 Dove Awards and was nominated as Song of the Year for the 1998 Dove Awards. In 2000 Darlene received a Dove Award nomination for Songwriter of the Year and received the International Award for influence in praise and worship.

In addition to “Shout to the Lord,” Darlene has written many songs that have been published worldwide, which apart from Hillsong Music worship projects also include solo projects : “Kiss of Heaven”, “Extravagant Worship”, “Change Your World”, “Simply Darlene”, “You Are Love” and “Revealing Jesus” a live worship album recorded with Grammy award winning Israel Houghton. Through the Compassionart project 2008, Darlene was honoured to be allowed the privilege of writing with some of the most generous-hearted worship writers and leaders of our day, with the goal to write an album where all the monies raised went to others in less fortunate circumstances. Darlene is also passionate about raising and training other worship pastor, leaders, teams and writers and has written four books – “Extravagant Worship”, “The Kiss of Heaven”, “The Art of Mentoring” and the new “Revealing Jesus” devotional. These titles combined have been translated into over 20 different languages.

Many years ago Mark and Darlene made a life commitment to do whatever they could to bring answer and relief to human suffering, and one of their great joys in life is to work with Compassion International, serving the world’s poorest of the poor children.

It was during a Compassion trip to Central Africa in 2004 that Mark and Darlene were prompted to initiate Hope: Rwanda, a global endeavour designed to bring hope to a nation seemingly forgotten since the horrific genocide of 1994. The 100 Days of Hope (April 6 – July 15, 2006) project was strategically coordinated to cover the same 100 days that saw approximately 1 million people viciously slaughtered. Now HOPE: Global continues to bring hope and healing to Rwanda, and a new ‘HOPE’ has spread into Cambodia, Vanuatu, and India. The HOPE team are excited about all the future endeavours that continue to gather great momentum.

Darlene and Mark live in the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales with their three daughters, Chloe and Zoe, Amy and son-in-law Andrew and beautiful grand-daughter Ava Pearl, grandson Roman Emmanuel Mark and brand new grand-daughter Ruthie Feather. While they travel extensively and have the honour of working and ministering alongside amazing friends around the globe, family remains Darlene’s supreme delight. As she says, “First and foremost I am a woman who simply and wholeheartedly loves Christ, and serves Him through loving my family, serving the church, and speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves.”

Revealing Jesus is a 365 day devotional that is beautifully written in a style that encourages the reader daily in their walk with God. Each day has a scripture verse and a short story describing the ways and concepts presented in scripture. There is also a daily prayer that is meant to be prayed to assist you in your prayer life. The month’s chapters are built on the notion of some of Darlene’s song lyrics or classic hymns. Some of the day’s reading are included, “Press On”, “Alive and Active”, “Worship His Name”, “My Witness in Rome”, and many more. One month even comprised the different names of God and the meaning behind them. The last month of each day also contained classic devotions from Oswald Chambers, A.W. Tozer, Henry Van Dyke, and more.

I would recommend this life changing devotional to every single believer who is seeking a new devotional to enhance their relationship with their loving Creator. This book will draw you closer to Jesus and you will feel connected to the words written in this tender devotional. I immensely love how Darlene Zschech dove into the scripture context and had a short story that reinforced the meaning of the verse and how to apply it to your life. I also really enjoyed the colorful design of the book and it made it look friendly and inviting to open it. If you’re looking for a wonderful devotional to read, then read this one!

Have you been blessed by the music of Darlene Zschech - the dynamic worship leader whose song, Shout To The Lord, has been sung by over 30 million churchgoers?

Are you looking for a fresh devotional to help bring you daily into the presence of the Lord?

If so, you'll be excited to learn that Darlene has just released Revealing Jesus - A 365 Day Devotional!

I have greatly anticipated the release of this book because Darlene's worship music touches my soul, and I expect her daily vignettes to do no less.

The book does not disappoint.

The devotions in this book stem from Darlene's personal time with God, and speak of how Scripture progressively reveals Jesus and His finished work in our lives. Every devotional that I read addresses an ever-present need in our hearts.

For example:

The January 16th devotional, Vulnerable, reminds us to be aware of our vulnerabilities and to do whatever is needed to care for our souls.

The March 27th devotional, Clean House, challenges us to rid ourselves of attitudes and actions that prevent us from pursuing holiness.

The July 6th devotional - He Meets Our Need - reminds us that no matter what our struggles are - Jesus is the only one who can truly meet our deepest needs.

Revealing Jesus - A 365 Day Devotional is part of a larger project - the #RevealingJesus project - which involved the simultaneous creation and release of a companion worship CD and CD-DVD.

Darlene says:

This whole concept has come out of a simple longing for more of Jesus to be revealed in my life. More of Him in every area of my life, starting with my heart...

Darlene believes that spending time with God through devotional meditation is an act or worship.

You don't have to be the greatest singer or musician to be a great worshiper. Whether you are in the body or as an individual, open your heart and adore the Lord from the very core of your being. That's all that He's asking.

Revealing Jesus - A 365-Day Devotional provides a perfect pathway for deepening your relationship with the Lord - and makes a beautiful gift for a friend!

Do you long for more of God's presence? Do you ache to see Him at work in your life? Do you desire His peace and rest? Renowned worship leader Darlene Zschech invites you to gather with her around the Word of God. Born out of her own yearnings that she poured onto the pages of journals, these meditations and Scriptures reveal Jesus and speak of His finished work - how He tenderly cares for you and wants you to know Him.

Darlene Zschech is co-pastor with her husband, Mark, of Hope Unlimited Church in New South Wales, Australia. Acclaimed worldwide as a singer, songwriter, worship leader, author, and speaker, she will always be best known for her song "Shout to the Lord." which continues to encourage people in their worship of God around the globe.

I am always on the lookout for a good devotional boo. I think that when I am studying the Bible it helps to have something to facilitate that study. There is always some additional insight that I wouldn't have thought of in the questions or thoughts that are written on the pages; it is always a help to me.

Revealing Jesus: A 365-Day Devotional by Darlene Zschech is a great resource for Bible study. It is an entire year focused on getting to know Jesus. Each day there is a verse or passage followed by some amazing, and personal, thoughts from the author. Each day ends with a short thought or prayer to meditate on throughout the day.

I really like that the verses are written right in the book, not just a reference. Sometimes I think the barrier that holds people back from doing a devotion every day is finding the Bible and looking up the passage. I know that sometimes it is easier to have it all right in front of me. I also appreciated the different translations used for the scripture. I am always able to go back to the Bible I use to delve deeper into scripture, but sometimes it is nice to read from a paraphrase like the Message or to see what a different Bible translation says.

Overall, a wonderful way to learn more about Jesus. Having Jesus be the focus of an entire year is a great way to focus your relationship with Him. What better way to get to know Him better, than to spend the entire year studying about Him. Anything that can draw you nearer to Jesus is an excellent resource to have!

"Revealing Jesus" is an absolute treasure, filled with inspirational devotionals that are based on solid scriptural teaching and wonderfully reflect God's heart and spirit. There is one devotional for every day of the year, and each page includes a verse of scripture, the devotional, and a brief prayer to help you get started in your own prayer time with the Lord. With a devotional like this, there really is little excuse for someone to say they have no time to spend focused on God. The entries are short, and yet each contains a powerful truth that will remain on your mind throughout the day. The devotionals are well-written and I very much enjoyed reading through them. I also enjoyed the lyrics to hymns and worship songs that grace the pages of the book, finding them to be meaningful and designed to draw the reader to the feet of Jesus.

If you are looking for a new devotional for yourself, or perhaps as a gift for a loved one for their birthday or upcoming Mother's Day, then consider giving them a copy of this devotional from worship leader Darlene Zschech. It is sure to be a blessing. I award this book a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I received a complimentary copy of "Revealing Jesus" from Bethany House. This is a beautiful devotional book written by Darlene Zschech. The devotionals are just the perfect length and they are well thought out. The biggest downfall I find with the devotional is that there is not one consistent version of the Bible used throughout the book. I am not only convinced, but I am also convicted that the King James Bible is the most accurate version of the Bible for the English speaking people today. I feel that when a writer changes the version of the Bible for a devotional, they are trying to change the actual meaning of the passage to what they want it to say, but anyways, this isn't about my convictions about the Bible. This is about the devotional. I love that the devotional is hardback. So many devotional books are soft backed, so they get creases in the front and/or the covers get ripped. The graphics in the book are beautiful. The beginning of each month, has two full color pages with the month name and song lyrics. All in all it is a beautiful book, from the words on the page, to the graphics. I'm so glad to be back reviewing books with Bethany House. Tune in soon for a review from the book, "Unrivaled" by Siri Mitchell.

I have nothing but good...no GREAT things to say about the 365 day devotional Revealing Jesus by Darlene Zschech! I love it because it is COMPLETELY scripture based. Each daily devotional starts off with a specific scripture or passage (completely written out so you don't have to whip out your bible) then the devotion builds upon and discusses that scripture and HOW we can APPLY that scripture to our lives. I love it.

I'll be honest I've read other devotionals and I've put them down because they didn't have enough scripture or wasn't fully backed with scripture however with this devotional that is NOT the case. It is fully scripture based...every single day of devotion. I love the way the author Darlene Zschech includes the way we can apply the daily scripture to our lives. I think that is a problem area for many people as we read, we go to church, we worship, we fellowship, we follow yet we sometimes have a hard time practicing what we learn/read. And this devotional is a great start in the right direction.

{FYI: I did receive this book from the publisher, Bethany House, in exchange for my HONEST review.}

Oh and yes I am still reading as it is a yearly devotional!

This is a very encouraging book that I recommend to any Christian looking for a brief but Biblical devotional. I loved the author's personable way of communicating, as well as the hymns and other music she included in her devotions. Each month also included a classic devotion from writers of the past, and this added a different element to this book. I appreciated waking up to the author's words each morning.

This devotional is good for the general reader who wants a quick, encouraging message for the day. Each entry starts with a scripture verse, is followed by commentary, and ends with a very brief prayer. At the end of each month, the author includes a classic devotion from another writer. Occasionally, she departs from her regular format and includes the lyrics from a hymn or a song.

Read as part of my daily devotions. A very good devotional. Great mix of scripture, commentary, prayers, even poetry and song lyrics. So good I got ahead in the daily readings and finished early.

I broke the cardinal rule of books!

"Never judge a book by its cover."

Too late. This book is beautiful to hold and to skim pages, to touch and also to read. Everything about it is gorgeous which makes it a perfect GIFT book.

Revealing Jesus is a 365 day devotional coming from the heart of acclaimed Worship leader, Darlene Zschech. Each daily entry has a verse to prompt your thoughts. There are a lot from the Psalms, drawing you into honest worship and adoration. Each page then describes a thought or insight or story inspiring you to focus on Jesus and is followed by a short prayer. It was encouraging to see the heart of this woman in her words and stories. (Watch a video on the heart behind her book and accompanying CD.)

The pages are dated from January 1st to December 31st. The actual reading on the pages is minimal - a quick and easy activity for every day - much like reading a Daily Bread entry. Each month has a beautifully crafted cover page with hand-scripted lyrics to hymns and songs. Again ... Beautiful!

I recommend this book to anyone wanting a brief scriptural reading for each day. It is also a wonderful gift idea for a Grad or on Mother's Day or any day as a matter of fact.

Thanks to Baker Publishing Group and Graf-Martin for the free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Darlene Zschech is a woman I have long admired for her song-writing ability and her heart for Jesus that is so apparent through all she writes. Her new devotional, Revealing Jesus, is just as worshipful as any song she’s ever composed!

Each day has a short, yet thought-provoking, devotional accompanied by Scripture and a short prayer at the end. She includes hymn lyrics at the beginning of each month, which I loved because it reminded me of the depth of meaning found in most older hymns.

I haven’t read all 365 yet (didn’t want to rush through!), but the ones that I did read were wonderful, and this will definitely be a book that I read through over and over.

If you’re looking for a fresh devotional to use each day as you spend time with the Lord, I recommend this one highly. It is worshipful, and there is also a worship CD that you can buy that goes along with the book.

I received a copy of this book from Bethany House publishers in exchange for my honest review.

There is something wonderful about this devotional! Not only is it beautiful (the hardcover edition is so gorgeous I can hardly stop looking at it!) but the challenges and inspiration and teachings that readers will glean from its pages are priceless.

I love that this is a 365 DEVO, so you have something every day! I love that they are not too long, but not too short… It’s just the right balance to get you in Gods Word, praying, thinking & letting the Holy Spirit do His thang!

Each month has a sort of theme & that is just cool! Because all month that 1 principle or truth is permeating in your mind & heart!

Darlene Zschech has long been a source of pulling me into the presence of God with her music, and now this devotional…what more can I say! Get it. These would make beautiful gifts for any occasion;)

My reflections:

When I was looking at the choices of books to review I actually skipped over this book on the first go around, but after looking it over some more I was drawn to this book, simply because it was beautifully appointed and beckoned me to drench my thirsty soul.

Upon opening this book the beauty does not cease, it has been such a joy to review this bible study. The devotional has a companion CD that can be purchased separately, which would be ideal to enjoy while having your tea and devotion times in the morning.
This resource would be a splendid gift for any Christian woman desiring to be inspired and uplifted by the word of God.. to see the whole review visit my Blog :http://citygirlmovestothecountry-tany...

Darlene Zschech has done a wonderful job of bring a daily devotional to us. It's formatted as one page a day, starting with January 1 and ends, of course, with Dec 31st. Each day offers scripture, and a wonderful life-application detailing and explaining the scripture. Each day ends with a prayer. I love it and I really love the nice, heavy hardback cover of the book. The pages are all nice and heavy too. (Crazy thing to comment on perhaps, but I love how good paper feels in your hands.)
The colors on the cover are beautiful and mesmerizing. Cover design gets an A++.
This would make an excellent gift, as the whole package is so attractive.
I received this as a free preview from Bethany House.

I have been on the hunt for a daily devotional of some kind for a few months now, ever since I got all excited about using another one that didn't work out. I have found it. This is a 365 day devotional that devotes 1 page to each day, sometimes they are written by Darlene, sometimes they are pulled from other places. Every day's reading begins with a verse, from any of a number of different translations and personally I like that change up. It's visually appealing as well.

I love this using this book as part of my devotions and scripture reading to kick of my day.

Thank you to Goodreads for giving me the opportunity to win a copy of this book. It is an inspirational collection of 365 devotions by one of my favorite spirit leaders Darlene Zschech. I felt a connection with the material that encouraged me and strengthened my walk with God. At the end of each devotion, there is a brief final thought or prayer. This book is powerful and thought-provoking. I found myself looking forward to the time I spent reading Darlene's book. I believe in anticipation of discovering something new or a new way of looking at scripture that I may have already encountered. A truly wonderful experience!

A sweet daily devotional with messages to lift your spirits and point you to God. I found it to be a great way to start my day. My only complaint is that I wish she had identified the devotions that were song lyrics as such at the beginning of the devotion.

Each devotion is written by Darlene and based upon her own life experiences, her thoughts, her hopes, her concerns. She does in this book what she has done for so many through her songs - she points the way to Jesus and His messages to us in Scripture.

This is a great devotional. So good we read ahead and finished early. It did an excellent job sticking to the topic - Jesus. She used many different translations and paraphrases of the Bible to best paint the picture. Try this one next year.

Side note: there is a worship CD by the same author with the same title. It parallels this devo well and is also worth the money.

ONE OF THE BEST DEVOTIONALS I'VE EVER READ!

Darlene Zschech takes her corporate worship and settles it onto the page for us to have private worship. I gained a lot of insight, knowledge, understanding and conviction through these words God wrote through her. I highly recommend this devotional. I am turning back to the beginning and re-reading this one.
