This was sweet story that focuses on family. I like that the sisters are friends. I also like the setting of Nantucket. I think it's a beautiful island. The inn/bed and breakfast sounds delightful, and the inn's transformation was interesting. The mystery was intriguing but left unresolved, which was disappointing.

Was able to visualize the beautiful island of Nantucket. The visualizations were nostalgic. Wasn’t the best read honestly and I had trouble making myself finish it. I lost interest half way through and wished for a more powerful storyline.

I've always imagined what it might be like to open a Bed and Breakfast in some wonderful location and that's just what the premise is behind Seaside Harmony by author Evangeline Kelley. In this charming and poignant novel, three sisters, Caroline Marris, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter revisit Nantucket to share once more in the fond memories from their childhood and the passing of their mother. Her mother had always dreamed of one day owning the now vacant Misty Harbor Inn, and restoring it to the grandeur of the Inn it once was.

Now that the three sisters are in their later years, Caroline and Sam feel a pull to resurrect the dream of their mom now that the Inn is for sale and is in need of much renovations. They feel if they can all pool their mother's inheritance money than they wouldn't have to finance the Inn and could own it outright, but Gracie is resolved to not get involved in the purchase because leaving her home would mean giving up the memories that she shared with her husband who has died. Not only that she feels she has found a useful place now that she is in her sixties of being grandmother to her grandchildren. She just isn't ready to give everything up she worked to establish and doesn't believe that Sam and Caroline know what they would be getting into by taking on the renovations and ownership of the Misty Harbor Inn.

However is it possible that with all the history surrounding the Inn and all the antiques found within the home that there is more here than simply renovating and running a B & B in the heart of Nantucket? What about the missing wife of the original owner that seemingly vanished without a trace? Are there more to the rumors of secret passages and rooms than merely being island myths? Is it possible that God has a different adventure in mind for these three sisters at the later stage in their life than they ever dreamed possible?

You'll have to read this delightful summer novel, Seaside Harmony to find out. I spent the weekend enjoying the opportunity to do something I've always wanted to do without spending any money but still have the same thrill that each of the women experienced in seeing this come to life in their own ways. I received Seaside Harmony compliments of Litfuse Publicity and Guideposts Publishing for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable one.

This is a truly restoration story not only as the sisters work on the efforts to restore the Inn to its former glory but also to restore their own broken relationships in new ways. Gracie will need to come to terms that she isn't abandoning her family but merely understanding that her own children need to take a turn at raising their own family instead of relying on grandmother to be a permanent babysitter; for Caroline it will be to prove to her sisters and herself that despite being so free-spirited, she can find roots in something more permanent and for Sam who longs for someone other than herself to cook for and experience what flavors life has to offer them all. I easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and this makes for the perfect summer novel to pick up to read while being at the beach! Seaside Harmony is the first book in Postcards from the Misty Harbor Inn Series.

Seaside Harmony is the delightful tale of three middle aged sisters: Caroline Marris, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter, who reunite in Nantucket after their mother's funeral to revisit fond childhood memories of summers spent on the island. While on the island, they are dismayed to find that their mother's favorite place, the Misty Harbor Inn is now a rundown ramshackle that is on the market for sale. It had once been their mother's dream to own the historic inn, so Caroline talks her sisters into buying and restoring the inn back to its former glory and covert it into a B&B. As the three sisters work together to restore the inn, they reestablish their sisterly bond and close relationship after having drifted apart when they became adults, and along the way they stumble upon a mystery involving postcards from 1880 and the disappearance of Hannah Montague, the young widow of the inn's original owner.

Seaside Harmony is the first book in the Postcards From Misty Harbor Inn series. The story is written in the third person narrative by a team of four authors who weave a wonderful tale that transports the reader to the idyllic island setting of Nantucket and follows Caroline, Gracie and Sam as they reminisce about their childhood memories, work through family issues, reestablish their relationship with each other, and discover a mystery surrounding the inn from 1880. You can't help but become captivated by the sisters' adventures as they work together to make their mother's dream a reality, while also becoming amateur sleuths when they investigate the mystery surrounding the 1880 disappearance of Hannah Montague.

I really enjoyed the storyline's intertwining theme of restoration: from the three sisters learning to reestablish their family bond and relationships, to making their mother's dream a reality in restoring the inn, this is a heartwarming story that readers can relate to. An added bonus of including an intriguing mystery and a touch of romance keeps the reader engaged and wanting to continue to follow Caroline, Gracie and Sam's adventures in the remaining books in the series.

Seaside Harmony is a delightful start to a new series that will captivate the reader's imagination and leave them looking forward to another enchanting visit to Misty Harbor Inn.

The concept and visualization provided by the author were both interesting and enjoyable. I found the storyline to be intriguing and easy to follow, and there weren’t any dull moments. However, I was frustrated with the lack of room for interpretation. The author blatantly described everything that was happening, what characters were thinking and feeling, what was going to happen, and why things were happening at all times. Additionally, the dialogue and the character relationships were unrealistic. I liked reading this book, but I don’t think would recommend it.

I will leave this at three stars because I couldn't finish the book. I really didn't like any of the three sisters, the writing was okay at best, and I felt more like I was watching Antiques Roadshow than anything else. Not worth my time to finish.

Three sisters vacation together in Nantucket after their mother's death, to reconnect with each other. When one suggests they use their inheritance to buy a rundown Inn from their childhood and start the Bed and Breakfast their mother always wanted, they may end up even farther apart than before they set out.

I loved this book because I've sometimes wondered myself, "Why not start a B and B? How much fun would that be?" All three characters, Caroline, Sam, and Gracie, have believable reactions to the idea: enthusiasm, a more tempered idea, and skepticism. Each has a distinct personality and their interaction as sisters was believable.

The plot was well paced, though a little fast towards the end. I also would have liked to see more description of the actual house, to have a better idea of what it looked like beyond "Victorian." There are only a few instances of faith being discussed and mentioned, and in a general way.

I would recommend this to readers who enjoy a contemporary tale with a hint of mystery.

This was my first book by this author. I really enjoyed this book!
Caroline Marris has always loved Nantucket. Childhood vacations with her parents and two sisters left her with cherished memories and a longing to return. When she agrees to vacation there with her sisters, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter, as a way to reconnect and honor their late mother, Caroline has no idea how this holiday will change her life. The sisters stumble upon Misty Harbor Inn, the place their mom loved so much, where she took them for tea when they were young. They are shocked to see it abandoned and for sale. Caroline talks her sisters into buying the beautiful but dilapidated inn, and they begin the daunting process of renovation. But can free-spirited Caroline remain focused enough to make opening the inn a reality? And when the sisters find a cache of puzzling hand-drawn postcards that depict local landmarks, they discover the mystery of Hannah Montague, the young widow of the original owner, who disappeared in 1880. Can the postcards help them uncover the fate of this woman, who loved the house as much as they do? As Caroline and her sisters work together to make their dream a reality, they find themselves bonding in ways they never expected. You'll delight in the inviting setting and be enthralled by the adventures of these three very different sisters who reunite to bring their mother’s Misty Harbor dreams to life. first book by this author. Evangeline Kelley in her new book “Seaside Harmony” Book One in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series published by Summerside Press takes us into the lives of Caroline Marris, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter.

From the back cover: Three sisters. A charming inn. Hints of mystery and romance. And a gorgeous seaside setting. Escape to Misty Harbor Inn.

When Caroline Marris joins her sisters, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter for a Nantucket Island getaway, she has no idea how it will change her life. The sisters stumble upon Misty Harbor Inn, the place their late mother loved so much, and Caroline talks her sisters into buying the beautiful but dilapidated inn. But can free-spirited Caroline stay focused enough to make opening the inn a reality? Hand-drawn old postcards draw the sisters into the mystery of Hannah Montague, the young widow of the original owner. Can the sisters uncover the fate of this woman who disappeared in 1880? As Caroline and her sisters work together to make their mom’s dream a reality, they bond in ways they never expected.

You’ll delight in the inviting setting and be enthralled by the adventures of these three very different sisters who reunite to bring their mother’s Misty Harbor dreams to life.

An abandoned inn that is run-down and for sale. A mother’s dream of owning the inn is re-birthed within her daughters and a story takes flight. Caroline, Gracie and Sam are spending two weeks in Nantucket to heal and grieve from the death of their mother. Then they discover the Nantucket Inn and it can be purchased outright if they combine the inheritance of all three sisters. However not all three sisters want to move and live in Nantucket or own the inn. ”Seaside Harmony” is not only about the restoration of an old inn, it is the restoration of a dream for the daughters that the mother had. It is also about the restoration of the relationships between the sisters that, like the inn, had deteriorated over the years. ”Seaside Harmony” is a lot of fun. There is even a mystery that is going to have to be resolved. What I liked the most was that while the sisters are in their fifties and sixties they can still purchase and run an inn and have exciting lives. ”Seaside Harmony” is a wonderful, sweet story with power and depth that will keep you flipping pages.

Evangeline Kelley is the pseudonym for the "writing team" of Patti Berg (who had been MIA for quite a while), Pam Andrews and Barbara Hanson (apparently they write as a team inside this team), and Camy Tang. I have no idea whether the authors tackle a book each or write each one together, but I can tell you that Seaside Harmony is the first of three books in the Postcards From Misty Harbor Inn series. Oh, and this is a Christian romance, so naturally it takes place in a rustic island, as we all know that Christians only live in bucolic, island, or seaside landscapes.

Oh, and I have better let you guys know as well - the story continues throughout the series, so you would need to get all three books if you want to know the whole tale. There is no indication of this anywhere on the front or back cover, and there isn't even any indication that there are other books in this series anywhere in this book. Maybe all that information is pasted on church boards all over the place and, therefore, a heathen like me is out of the loop.

Basically, we have three sisters: Caroline Marris, Gracie Gold, and Sam Carter. They are in their fifties and they haven't been together much lately, until their mother's passing shortly before this story begins. They spend eight chapters walking slowly all over the place and talking about mundane things, before deciding to buy Misty Harbor Inn, a resort that their mother loved but had been purchased by some people from outside of Nantucket Island, whose plans to upgrade the place were met with massive disapproval by the locals.

Since our sisters are locals, of course everyone is pleased that they are buying the place. The sisters spend the next dozen or so chapters agonizing about their decision when they are not still walking slowly and talking about mundane things, most of which they should already know so who knows why they are rehashing everything out loud all over again.

Then crisis strikes when Caroline decides that maybe she should spend the money elsewhere, earning her her sisters' ire, and she spends the next three hundred chapters flailing - as if she'd just realized that every part of her body has cancer - and wailing that she needs a sign from God to tell her what to do. I sincerely hope no real life people of any religion gets this melodramatic over purchasing a property, because it's embarrassing.

And then, finally, after so many chapters of ramble, I come to the cliffhanger ending. I've never been so excited to see one in my life.

As you can probably tell from the previous paragraphs, Seaside Harmony suffers from a lack of direction for almost the entire story. It's ridiculously slow, and every other scene seems suspiciously like padding. Reading this book is like reading day-to-day journal entries by a random stranger, and this is only palatable if that stranger lives a life full of explicit sex, fantastic violence, or other fun things. Here, however, it's all small talk and aimless chatter as the story creaks and groans its way slowly to the last page.

There is some mystery about the disappearance of a widow in the 1880s that used to own the building that eventually became Misty Harbor Inn, but it's developed in equal slowness. It has to span across three books, after all. I'm not exactly jumping at the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened to her.

The three sisters lack any distinctive trait, other than Caroline is the one who has a male BFF - it's BFF because we can't have anyone joining body bits unless God decrees them to, after all. These sisters are sort of just there, existing to complete each other's thoughts like badly written characters tend to do. Also, they are in their fifties, but they exhibit a bewildering kind of naïveté that is more at home with sheltered kids. For example, they are shocked that they have to do a lot of work to renovate a building that had been allowed by previous owners to fall into a state of disrepair.

Seaside Harmony is way too slow to be interesting, and it takes forever to actually get anywhere. And when it finally goes somewhere, it's right to a cliffhanger ending. What the heck is this? Still, as Jesus-approved sleep aid goes, this one is probably safer than sleeping pills.

SEASIDE HARMONY is this first book in the Postcards from Misty Harbor series by this dynamic writing quartet. The story is slow moving, live a calm, quiet day sitting on the beach. I never did really mesh with the characters, the point of view was reserved, as if they were holding the reader at a distance.

The three sisters don’t exactly see eye-to-eye, and they all come from different walks, from a widow, to a divorcee, to a never married. All three are older, maybe in their fifties or sixties, and they have different talents.

I enjoyed reading SEASIDE HARMONY. It was a nice, relaxing, lazy days read. It is easy to put down, go about and do various things, and then come back to, so would be great for vacation. Set on Nantucket, it will show you various sights on the island. Good book. $13.99. 336 pages. 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

I always love books that take me back to my East Coast roots so I knew when I saw that Seaside Harmony took place on Nantucket Island that reading this book would feel like going home. It is the first in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series.

Three sisters return to their childhood vacation spot and see that The Misty Harbor Inn that they used to visit is in a state of despair and has been long forgotten. When they decide to purchase the inn and restore it to it’s former glory, have they taken on more then they can handle? Do they even know
the first thing about running an inn?

The thing I loved about this story was the dynamics and relationships between Caroline, Sam and Gracie. They are all so unique but bonded together by their sisterhood and the memory of their mother who adored their childhood vacation home.

A mystery unfolds about a woman named Hannah who was married to the original owner of the inn. The sisters are intrigued by her and want to clear her name because of ugly rumors about her that they refuse to believe. We have to wait until the next book to see where this goes.

I didn’t know until I finished reading that Evangeline Kelley was a pen name for four authors. I was really surprised because if I had known that up front, I would have expected more of a disjointed story but I had absolutely no idea this wasn’t written by one person until the end.

I could feel the sun on my face and the wind in my hair and felt like I was right there on Nantucket island. Seaside Harmony was a bit like a vacation to read. I’m looking forward to find out what happens next in Sunflower Summer.

Six months after the death of their mother Caroline Marris, along with her sisters Gracie Gold and Sam Carter plan a two week getaway to Nantucket a place their mother loved. While strolling on the beach they arrive at the Misty Harbor Inn, a place their mother dreamed of owning and are surprised at the condition of the old inn. The sisters decide to purchase the inn even though it will take a lot of work to get it ready to open. When they find some old postcards they are find themselves immersed in the mystery of Hannah Montague, the widow of the original owner. Can they figure out what happened to her? Will the sisters be able to get the inn open, and will this adventure draw them together or pull them apart?

I loved the family feel of this novel. Each sister has their own unique personality giving this story a very realistic feel. Because the sisters are older I found myself easily relating to them. I could easily understand Gracie's reluctance at wanting to leave her home, but she also needed to reestablish a relationship with her sisters. In addition to the family drama going on they are renovating the inn and if that isn't enough there is an air of mystery about a former owner. "Seaside Harmony" is the first book in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series and is the perfect way to escape for a few hours. I have always been a fan of Guideposts series and this one promises not to disappoint With elements of faith interwoven with family drama, a hint of mystery along with a splash of romance, I really look forward to my next visit to the Misty Harbor Inn.

This is just an excerpt. Read my full review on my blog.

Seaside Harmony by Evangeline Kelley is the first book in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series. Seaside Harmony follows the adventures of three sisters, following the dream that their mother had of opening a bed and breakfast in Nantucket.

When the sisters meet for a reunion vacation on the Nantucket Island that they vacationed at as children, after the death of their mother, they learn that the Misty Harbor Inn is for sale. The old dilapidated building quickly captures the imagination of the oldest Marris sister, Caroline. She recalls the high teas that their mother took them to, at the stately old inn, and how much she loved the place. She can't seem to get these memories out of her mind, and soon gets her sisters interest peaked. Eventually, she is able to talk her sisters into buying the building with her, and refurbishing it back to the beauty it used to be.

While they begin working on the inn, they discover old postcards from the mysterious original owners, second wife, Hannah Montague. Hannah is a legend on the island, she was accused of being a thief and she disappeared, never to be heard from again. The Marris sisters quickly become intrigued by her story, especially as they find interesting clues as to what really happened to Hannah.

Three sister's reuniting together, after the death of their Mother, at a place with happy memories. They are at Nantucket Island, and reminiscing about their childhood visits there.
While out on one of their adventures, they stumble upon the old Inn where they went to tea with Mom. Such sweet times, recapturing memories. Can just picture them poking around the deserted, and becoming run down inn. It is For Sale, and the oldest sister Caroline Marris, all of a sudden wants to buy it??
Can you imagine that change in your life? She has traveled, and has been staying in England. Sam Carter, another sister, takes a liking to the idea, but Gracie Gold cannot see giving up her life in Maine. She loves being needed by her Son and Daughter-In-Law, and their children. She is so torn. They need her money from their inheritance to buy the inn, where as she thinks she should give hers to her son.
As I was reading this, I felt like I was one of the Sisters, and loved their adventures, a bit of bickering, and lots of laughs, and family friendship.
I could almost smell the ocean, and want them to buy the inn, and find out the answers to some of the questions and mysteries they stumble upon. Once you started reading you won't want to put it down. I am so glad that there is another book in this series.

I received this book through Litfuse Publicity Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.

I won a copy of this book via a FirstReads giveaway.

Unfortunately, I only read a chapter and a half and can't bring myself to read any further. When I'd entered to win a copy of this book, the premise sounded cute - three sisters who get together in memory of their mother and end up opening a bed and breakfast. The book was labeled as a mystery/romance novel. What I did not expect was a Christian book published by Guideposts. Also, the sisters are all around my mother's age (late 50s/early 60s). Based on the book description, I was expecting characters that were much younger. As for the writing, maybe it's because Evangeline Kelley is a "pen name for a writing team" that the verse seems so choppy and repetitive. In 20 pages, all that's happened is the sisters (whose appearances and personalities I can barely tell apart) feel guilt over not getting together with their mother more often and have gone to look at the abandoned B&B...all the while acting immature and worrying that the police will come arrest them for being on the property of a building that is for sale. None of the components seem to fit, so I'm giving up on this one and passing it along to someone else. Hopefully, it will be more their taste than mine.
