The Informative Years!
I don't know to start with this review. This first installment touched on so much from child abuse, verbal abuse, bullying, promiscuity, and sexuality, to absent parents. It's a lot packed and needs to be unpacked in these one hundred and eighty-five pages. It's so sad to say that jealousy, envy, and anger start early with women over men and money. This book is set during the high school years the most informative years of a teenager's life.
Katlego is dealing with child and verbal abuse. His father thinks for whatever reason he owes him. Katlego doesn't owe his father a dime, he is the child. He was brought into the world from love not to pay debts. Mhina is being overlooked because of her size but she is not only intelligent but talented as well. The way the "mean" girls are treating her is uncalled for. Yori is way above her age with the type of mentality she has. She is starting her young adult life off on the wrong foot. My heart just breaks for Tazara because she is stuck in limbo about her sexuality. It's really sad.
I am looking forward to the second installment of this series. I was expecting a cliffhanger, I just wasn't expecting how it happened. It's so many unanswered questions and who is involved because it's a couple of suspects. I want to read to see if Katlego and Mhina make it through all the foolery.
P.S. I would have given this book a five-star rating easily but it needs some editing. It is bothering me how much because this author's penmanship is fire.

Curvy and proud
I always like coming of age stories for sure. It's like you get to see how you lived as a teenager or currently living with each scenario. Mhina is definitely someone to look up too, she speaks her mind and stand up for herself when necessary because all things don't need a response. I love how her mother and grandma love on her. Some people never get that support, Katlego and Tazara are prime examples. I love how she reads Katlego for sure even with his stuff going he should be real because I cam see exactly where she coming from. I really had high hopes for Tazara but that pressure whether from family or friends can definitely be damning. I am glad Mhina can hold her own. Now Katlego really had me worried and still kinda do because he still up in the air. I am glad he is coming around to growing up because he really needs to for sure. I do love his potential though and the way he is really making sure to be the man any respectable woman would want. Now that damn Yori nobody can really be that messed up in the head but that's what happens when children are raising children. They think they should have everything they want without regard for no one else. That ending is really crazy and to think it could be high school kids that is doing it is crazy!!!

Oh, I can't wait until them disrespectful little this get what they deserve how dare they attack Mhina like that. Whew, child, because of Amazon, I can't say what I want I not trying to go to jail. But I can't wait for part two. Them dang on dummies, all they doing is pushing Ketlego and Mhina closer together. Boy, I can't wait to see her shine. But it's a shame people are still and will never change because they are insecure about themselves they have to bully others. Then you have those throat puppet followers who can not think for themselves. I'm so mad, but I'm glad Mhina has a wonderful support system.

Say It Loud,This Is Good Stuff!!
This was an excellent story and so very well excuted. This writer weaves a story in all its young adult angst. This is a story about a young woman knowing who and what she's about. I love the fact that she has such a force of love and good will backing her all the way. This was just plain enjoyable, right from the start. The fact that it ends on a cliffhanger is testament to the fact that you want to know what happens next. Now on to the reason this story isn't given five stars.The many typos ,that come at critical moments or the ones that come and change the meaning of a scene. The editing needs to be tighter or get some really good friends and use those extra pair of eyes. Overall please indulge yourself in a fantastic story.

great storyline
This story has a great story line I love the female lead Mhina her self confidence is through the roof and I’m here for it as well as the male lead Katlego is mature both lead characters were faced with some serious issues that they handled head on….now I must say I truly loved the relationship Mhina had with her mother and Memaw…when reading the synopsis it didn’t give me high school and after reading the bullying, drama,sex and pregnancy trap this should have been set on a college campus there were some misplaced words but you can read past them This was a good read just needed the character’s to be older and there not be a pet 2 but a complete book

Wait a DAMN minute 🤔🤔 U have got to be kidding me?? It saddens me to know how really cruel and ignorant people can be. I know we have BOTH good & evil in this world but DAMN 😬😬 I never understood how a person decides in their head to basically make a person want them when they can truly careless 🤷🤷 I hope the next installment doesn't take long.... Can't wait to see what happens next.....

Decent storyline but the poor writing skills made it hard to read AND understand.
There were so many incomplete sentences throughout the book it left me wondering if this is how the author talks or if it was a mockery of folks with deep, Southern accents. I really can't believe an adult wrote this book and released it. It's unfortunate because the storyline was good. However, no one can ignore bad writing, no matter how hard they try.
1.5 stars for the storyline.

I am really enjoying this Part 1,I plan to read them all. I am sorry that she is having a hard time, I love her spirit and self love.She is a good girl and a beautiful one. Hate comes in all shapes and sizes, her faith will get her through even this. God will work it all out, the love that she gets from her mother and grandma will get her through. Yori and her peeps will get theirs.Karma is truly a bit.. !!!!!!

Book was okay
I don’t feel like this should be a book with a cliffhanger especially with the way it’s being written. It’s been drama from the start and the beef don’t really make sense. Her boss or director is a pedo… her “boyfriend” weak as heck… Plus it’s weird that the teachers are like that over some acting or her being plus size. I guess it’s somebody’s reality

Already in love with the roles of all the character's purpose, where they've been placed in the story and their upbringing of how they see themselves or they're entitlement whether right or wrong in the story. That's what I am talking about, a young sistha believing in herself, and that she is worthy of all good things. So proud of her mother and her teachings. Katlego, he finally got with the program. So glad his mother is behind his dreams. There is not hope for his dad or his ex Yori. Can't wait for book two. Job well done.

What the what? What just happened to MeMe? I love her Confidence and Self Love. Love how her mother nutures and build her daughter up, as all parents should. Their relationship is Absolutely Beautiful. Well told story, can't wait for part 2!

Peer pressure is real and Yori is just that. There is bully's everywhere and kids get it the worst. I wish there was more parents like Mhina. This was a good book. Can't wait for book 2. Great book!!!!!

This was so good. Miss Mhina has an amazing support system in her mom and grandma. Plus, she's doing her thing despite the haters. I was hurt when I got to the end... part 1???PART ONE??!!!?? I need part 2 ASAP Miss Sumter, respectfully of course.
