A story thousands of years in the making, a re-imagining of one of the greatest tales ever, retold in the post-apocalyptic future.
Mankind has been devastated and in its wake the monstrous being Ravan and his dark hordes threaten to wipe out what little is left of humanity but hope is alive in the form of mighty warrior Prince Ram. Along with his brother Lakshman and the lovely Seeta, daughter of Mother Earth, Rama sets out on a perilous journey to end Ravan's bloody grip on the world.
Ramayan 3392 A.D. is an epic adventure which has been called "India's answer to Lord of the Rings" by the Times of India and features a surreal cast of fantastical creatures and spectacular battles, all within an astonishing quest to save humanity from a darker evil that the world has ever encountered before.
Vol 2 of Ramayan series takes up from where it left the story this time our heroes are on run and meet Vanars and they arrive at a city of thieves to get some provisions but they get in even more troubles. This was another solid read with the same issues which plagued vol. 1 book i.e. poor quality of glue used for cover. This time too it came of as soon as opened the books. Now on to the third part.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
Other than the names, some lore and the occasional similarities, this series can be called anything. Maybe written at a time where Mythology sells (even now that remains the same, take the likes of movies like adipurush to boot), this reimagining of Ramayana is extremely captivating. The art is too good and the character development is amazing. Maybe some occasional plot lines end with the "it is what it is as this is what it was in Ramayana", the plot twists from the original Ramayana story line changing to something else really surprised me and pleasantly as well.
This is a amazing series, and ends in 3 volume incomplete on a cliff hanger. This would have been a pop culture classic from India based on Ramayana and much advanced of the times it was released. I dont expect this to come back and finish the story, but Hope someday i would read the rest.
Artwork has defiantly changed in terms of colour palate and line work. This one leans into the sci-if theme a little more with some great images. The city in the dessert especially were great. The pacing is better and the dialogue has been tightened. Still there are issues.
Rama launches his quest to recover Seeta by the end of this novel. Yay! However, I do feel robbed. This is the second volume and Rama is in love with Seeta - no development just in one panel he was. No fair!
Overall - a quick enjoyable read. Not as different or as compelling as I was expecting. Worth picking up if you are looking for a tale which is spring from a different inspiration pool.
A perfect continuation to the first volume. The plot just gets better. Even though the writers have kept the theme same they have changed main parts of the story and the characters to give it a new shape. This futuristic Ramayana is dangerous, violent and full of twists and turns.
A Marked improvement on the first volume and much more heart-thumping and pacier. And the artwork is glorious, to say the least. Clear, bright and definitely engrossing - I loved the side-story arcs of Panchvati - being a deranged city that delights in gladiator-games, the tracks of Dushan,Surnaka with Ram and Sita, the introduction of Prince Angad riding steampunk-desert-bikes and lots more very interesting twists to the version we've grown up listening to.
Almost making Ramayana INTERESTING. Someone called India's answer to Lord of the Rings - Maharishi Vishwamitra certainly makes for a Gandalf-figure but Rama and his brothers are infinitely more interesting than the Hobbits of Shire - but maybe they pale compared to the rest of the Fellowship? I could write a paper but I will hold off.
Fantastic exciting stuff from Graphic India and Westland. Breaking new grounds and HOW! Eagerly awaiting Vol.3 now.
Very much impressed with this outing of rama . Grate art work , brighter in terms of color and overall tone. Grate improvement over the previous installment of story , in terms of art work , story, plot development, character interaction; it is way better than its predecessor .
Its in every way a better read than vol.1 . The only disappointment is its reduced volume . Highly recommended.
I thought this is an amazing twist to the Ramayan epic and this comic potrays the story in a very unique and different way this allows the readers to get a different insight to the Ramayan story. I recomend it to all Indian readers or to all people who have read the Ramayan
The art work is much better and clear than the previous volume. The plot thickens as the story progresses. But during the phase of rebellion, I found it bit lagging. Overall, the imagination is brilliant !
