Long to see
What’s beneath
The deep blue sea

Scuba Bunnies is about a group of bunnies scuba divign in the ocean. They come across a sunken pirate ship and lots of different creatures.

Themes/topics: sea, scuba diving, ocean creatures

Great features: very fun illustrations. It's neat that it not only describes the sea, but some things that would be necessary to go scuba diving.

Red flags: difficult words include buoys, mournful, suction cup

Opportunity for interaction:
Do you ever pretend that your bath tub is the ocean?
The bunnies find a pirate ship. What else might you find under the sea?
Pretend to be wearing a mask, zipping up wet suit, flippers, swimming motion

*Scuba Bunnies by Christine Loomis

-Ask kids, do you ever pretend your bath tub is the ocean?

-Have kids make motions:

~hold hands to face like a mask

~zip up your wet suit

~make a diving motion

~make a fishy face

-Ask kids, the bunnies found a pirate ship. What else might you find under the sea?

-Have kids do a swim motion when bunnies are running from the shark.

-Wave goodbye.

-Swim motion home when the bunnies swim home.

**Watch out for difficult rhyming words.

Sometimes they're scuba bunnies, but they also do some snorkeling, which is nice. Good book for a child who wants to be a marine biologist someday. And also a nice antidote to that awful The Runaway Bunny, where the mother keeps changing form in order to drag the baby back every time. Here mom just goes on with her life until the adventure is over and the bunnies come in for warm jammies and hot drinks.

Or maybe that's just me that hates Runaway Bunny?

Scuba-diving rabbits have adventures which include swimming by a pirate ship and encountering a variety of sea animals

A fun, imaginative book in which you can explore under the sea with bunnies in scuba gear!! Different aspects of this book will appeal to different preschool age kids (some might like the scuba gear, some the cuddly looking bunnies, some the ocean animals).

So cute, the bunny even checks his dive gear before he goes on his dreamy adventure. Some of the words are a little difficult for beginning readers (buoys and suction) - but its adorable listening to my little girl trying to sound them out. The illustrations are pretty too!

Cute story about bunnies playing and exploring in the ocean. It has fun illustrations and with a bedtime theme, it's a great book to read while tucking kids in for bed.
