I did enjoy this. A breath of fresh air to hear the stories, especially Keith, sharing with such honesty about his life. I was moved by the insights into the life of a Potter(a great Potter too) and loved the detail and knowledge that Keith kindly shared re the potted history of Clarice Cliff ; loved that so much. We are big fans of the Pottery Showdown as a family. Loved the video clips, too, that get a mention, and do not know how we missed them beforehand! and I have a mug from Keith's word range, which I treasure but use daily.
What I feel is lacking, though, are more photos. I found the small pictures barely allowed a proper look at such talent. I personally would loved to have seen some pictures of some of the creations that were made on the Pottery Show which get a mention but I found hard to recall even though we, as a family have watched those fabulous series. Maybe another book is required? 😉
A family member on a trip to Whitsatble this year happened to bump into Keith, who was very kind and stopped and chatted for a few minutes with her. After the encounter she realised she had forgotten to tell him she had done Pottery at university and how much joy it had given her but sadly the costs involved in working in a studio meant it was sadly out off her hands to work with clay currently but watching his show gave her hope that one day she might be able to take it up again.
I would recommend this book as a lovely light read and am so pleased to have read it.
