It's official - I'm definitely a fan of feel-good fiction !!
This book is a breathe of fresh air ! The fact that it took me so long to finish was due to Little Lily (my beautiful bundle of joy 🤩😍) arriving 8 days before her due date ( was due February 22nd, arrival was 9:19am Valentine's Day ).
BACK TO THE STORY - my favorite characters were : Fayth, Hollie, Astin, & Liam. Hollie & Astin are THE CUTEST 😍😍😍 I'm so glad that she was able to stand up to her bastard of a boss, Jerry & begin pursuing her passion as a fashion designer. I cannot wait to see what she brings to the next book ! I was disappointed when Fayth didn't pursue Liam. Granted, they would be a great couple due to their many similarities, but looking toward the future, the friendship route may be what they need.
I mean, who knows, they JUST MIGHT END UP SHAGGING ! 😋😂
Thanks, Kristina Adams, for this lovely read (: I look forward to your future work 👀
Hollie and Fayth are in a bit of a rut. Both are working in dead-end jobs and need a change. On a whim, they take a trip to NY where Hollie hooks up with a male model/stuntman and Fayth gets to meet her screen idol. The story deals with not only the girls' incertitude about themselves but also how they need to change and grow to overcome life's difficulties. The characters were well developed and believable, there was plenty of humour amongst the pages, and I enjoyed the read. My only qualm would be that (I know it's a series, but) I had expected a stronger ending. It's a well-written book and anyone who enjoys chick-lit should give this a go.
I loved reading this book! It’s so easy to relate to the characters and engage with what is going on. The characters are so interesting and it’s a story line I’m really enjoying. Can’t wait to read the rest!
When I saw that one of the prompts in the 2021 Reading Women Challenge was "Reread a Favorite [sic]", I quickly decided this would be it. Hollie and Fayth, the best friends who are the twin protagonists of this novel, are among the most engaging and relatable characters I've ever read (this is helped by how comprehensively well thought out they are). Their journey together is a very lifelike mixture of hilarious, heartbreaking, disastrous, and delightful, and although some events stretch probability a fair bit, it's still a somehow believable story as one immerses oneself in it (helped by the desire for good things to happen for the protagonists).
This is a very enjoyable read, and when I got into it I just wanted to keep going; the time it took me to read it this time is no fault of the novel (I've often been too tired to read or too distracted by other things, notably the World Snooker Championship in the last couple of weeks). What prevents me giving it five stars is the unfortunate quantity of typos and the like, as these are quite distracting in places (particularly in the last 50 pages or so); however, my copy is a very early edition and hopefully more recent ones are not so afflicted. Now I finally need to get around to reading the subsequent instalments...
About the only chick lit series I ever liked was Gossip Girl, before I moved on to thrillers and paranormal romance and found my reading niche. Now, I've got to tell you, this series... WAY. FREAKING. BETTER. It tops GG for me on so many levels. The humor, the characters, the plot! I was laughing and feeling for both Hollie and Fayth, who go through real struggles and are so FREAKING RELATABLE it's insane! I'm just annoyed it took me this long to finally get into it, and can't wait to make my way through their adventures! Also, Liam? Astin? Erm, H-O-T. Especially Astin. He's got a special spot in my heart forever! It's so refreshing reading about women that don't have it all figured out, seeing their real struggles, and how they overcome adversity (sometimes in their own selves) to better themselves. Loved, LOVED it, way more than 5 stars!!
For a novel in women's fiction you don't get silly characters for a change which I loved or and hectic storyline that is bizarre. A great simple story that flows well and not too weak either. Ideal for a light read but still a good enough story to keep you entertained while reading. I loved the characters and the story. Can be suitable for young adults as it's similar feel to the geek girl series but without the annoying characters. I preferred this novel to be honest. Thanks to the author for a copy to review. Looking forward to the second one.
A wonderful book, I highly recommend it! I like how the two main characters, who are so different, give us two completely different story lines as well as their point of view on each. I admire that they are so real and so flawed and, in that way, so relatable. It's not just a contemporary romance; there's anxiety, grief, and everyday issues that each of us can relate to. It was an easy read, in that I couldn't put it down, and I am very much looking forward to the next instalment.
This is the first book I've read from British author Kristina Adams. It was interesting and fun to read it. Readers follow 2 young adults, Fayth and Hollie, from Scotland, who travel for the first time of their lives to NY to get away temporarily from their boring and problematic lives. On their first night in NY, Hollie befriends a stunt actor/former model and Fayth with her idol action star, best friend of the stunt act.
From the beginning, I immediately thought of the Julia Roberts/Hugh Grant movie "Notting Hill". The author used the same theme, but reversed roles and places. This book goes even deeper because although part of the story is about a regular person befriending a star, the real story is about characters. Regardless of who the girls are dating, they need to confront their problems and overcome their fears to move on with their lives. It is even better when the recently met actors/friend/boyfriend accept them as they are and help them start overcoming their issues, which prevented the 2 women from living their lives.
I only kept going with this book because I don’t like not finishing once I’ve started, but it was a real slog to get through it. Lots of spelling mistakes, a story that just felt really unrealistic, and a really abrupt ending that made no sense. When I saw that we were ending with a one week later chapter I thought maybe Astin was going to show up at Hollie’s home, but no, it was some pointless chapter about Hollie returning her work uniform. I won’t be continuing the series.
this was pretty fun, honestly. however if my library doesn’t send me my requests and i have to keep reading these free amazon books with no substance to keep myself occupied, i will probably start spiraling.
Two frustrated young British women decide to get away from it all and visit New York City where they meet a kindhearted bodybuilder, an overly generous leading man, and get extremely lucky. Why would a guy even read this book? Well, he could be a writer interested in current trends and dialogue. And despite the clunky writing style and way too much talk about cosmetics and fashion the gals are a lot of fun to be with.
Really enjoyed the overall story, but the writing was a bit all over the place at some parts. I also didn’t really vibe with the changing POV’s within a chapter. I enjoyed the characters and the setting a lot and I want to read the next book to see what happens next to Fayth and Hollie!
This was a joy to read. It gently guides you through some powerful emotions, but has enough fun, girl times and romance to really lift the whole book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Fun read following the adventures of two friends. I found myself rooting for them to come out on top, and laughed out loud at their adventures. A nice, fun, easy read.
New York is one of the places I regularly visited when I was a flight attendant. When I picked up What Happens in New York, I had to read set in New York, and for some reason, I was nostalgic for Manhattan. Well, I cannot say the same thing about this book; it has a lot of potentials, but at the same time, I had trouble with the pacing and the repetition of the same situation. Unfortunately, the book has a happy conclusion. For now, you have to continue with the series to find out what will happen to the four main characters in the book. I'm not too fond of series/books that make you read the continuation. Yes, I can say it has realistic elements of human behavior. Still, at the same time, the plot and the premise of the book are like an episode in a continuing television drama, the intention being to get you to buy the next book. I will have to give this book 2.75 stars. If I continue with the series, it will take me a long time, and maybe if there is an audiobook to listen to.
I loved this book, I read it more or less in a day. As the blurb says it is very similar in style to reading Sophia Kinsella, the characters are in the main likeable but each has their baggage and just like real-life friends occasionally you wish you could reach in and give them a good shake. Their frailties are relatable, and when they are thrust into the spotlight you can imagine that the way they are portrayed is pretty much true to their characters. The elite are also a mix of complex personalities, the drug use and excesses of celebrity lifestyles are touched on but do not take over the plot allowing for a nice balance of normality, drama and extravagance that creates an enjoyable, fun read that leaves you wanting more.
I really recommend this as either a summer beach read or for a cosy winter evening book to curl up with just be warned they are not on KU and you will want to read the next one straight away. I give this book 5 out of five shiny gold stars.
I cannot say enough how much I loved this book! It was amazing. I love the story and characters. I loved everything about it. It was refreshing. You go from the beginning with Fayth and Hollie to the end and see how much they have grown as people. This book also shows a lesson of if you do not take a chance and try something new you will never know what could happen. The women's lives were changed for the better within a week from taking a chance. This book grabbed my strengthen from the start and pulled me in. I read it in less than 24 hours. I do not do that often. I cannot wait to read What Happens in London and read the continuation of Fayth and Hollie's adventures! Thank you Kristina Adam's for reaching out to me and asking me to review this. If you love Chick Lit this is a book worth reading!
When I first started the book it was hard to keep reading but I usually like to finish a book I start so I continued on this journey. As the book progressed I started to enjoy characters and storyline. It has... Different, in a way. However, the ending changed my whole outlook. It was a horrible ending. The next book doesn't even continue the main characters' stories! What happens with Hollie and Astin/Fayth/Liam?? That got me thinking about how there really wasn't much substance to the story, especially if the author couldn't/didn't write a follow up.
This had lots of potential but unfortunately fell very flat. The characters were well written and good chemistry as a friendship group. Clear emotional ties and potential for romance was established but the story was a bit flat. Some chapters were excellent and sweet others literally nothing happens.
Also it just ends... like there is no ending. I understand the premise of will they won't they tune in for book 2 cliffhanger... but that doesn't happen. It literally just ends like ok they flew home bye now done.

3.5 stars. It's a really pleasant suprise when you come across something in the free kindle book offering that's worth reading and that's a good fun read. This is one of those books, and it's also one of those which proves that good chick lit has many layers to it and can address many real-life issues.
I really enjoyed this book! In fact, I went and bought the next four as soon as I'd finished it. There were a couple of plot points that I thought were a tad unrealistic - but that might just be a me thing, and they could be completely reasonable and normal to other people. It didn't stop me from enjoying the story though, and I'm really looking forward to reading what Hollie & Fayth get up to next.
This is a light and fun romantic read with some serious undertones. I liked the two women and their friendship, and enjoyed their adventures in New York. The romances and the clashes with fame were quite well done. I was also satisfied with the Happy For Now ending, which made sense in the circumstances.
