Kristina Adams is an author, poet, and blogger. She has a BA in Creative Writing from the University of Derby, and an MA in Creative Writing from Nottingham Trent University. When she’s not writing, she’s baking, sewing, or finding another way to avoid the real world. She lives in the UK with her partner.
Fayth is in the middle of a divorce just after losing her mother and sister in a car accident. Besides, Hollie, her best-friend, Fayth has had the support of Liam York, a Hollywood actor. Their friendship isn’t the easiest one giving the fact that he has fans everywhere and is pretty popular, which makes it difficult to assume any kind of feelings that she might have for him. Even more because she lives in Scotland while he lives in New York.
On the other hand, there’s Hollie and Astin who already assumed their feelings and are finding their way into their relationship. But what looked like a sea of roses turned into a nightmare when Astin had an accident while working, ending up in a wheelchair (even though just temporarily). He won’t give Hollie a chance to help him, even less love him.
As you can see, the plot is quite interesting. Each one of them has their own problems but they all find support in each other. But this just didn’t do it for me. The book is too long and its pace just made me lose the intertest in the story. It’s just problems after problems, it honestly gave me a headache while reading this. All the good things happen in the last 100 pages of the book, which I read really fast because they were actually good scenes, well written and perfectly paced. And while those final pages were perfect for me, the rest of the book is almost dispensable in my opinion.
The characters are good, even the secondary ones like Wade, Liam’s bodyguard. There is also another relationship going one between Tate and Jack, but this one wasn’t so developed in the book as the other two I mentioned, although it looked interesting. The book ends with Fayth and Liam happy with their lives and their relationship while Hollie and Astin end up mad at each other (which will probably be sorted out in another book).
Altogether, I think the good things shouldn’t be all stuffed in the end of the book because it just makes it so boring and so long.
I received an ARC via Netgalley from the Publisher.
Ahhh! That ending...smdh I had no idea what I was getting into when I started this book. I had quickly read the blurb and thought this would be something I would enjoy. I had no idea that it was a continuation from What Happens in New York. But the author did an amazing job with her writing and I was able to figure out all the characters and the majority of what happened in book 1 so I wasn't lost while reading. I absolutely fell in love with this story and all of the characters in it. The ups and downs, friendships, and even the heartbreaks. This is a very real life story with real characters that aren't fake and have perfect lives. They each have gone through their own traumas, loves, and losses. They make you have real feelings about the situations that happen during the story. My favorite character in this story is Hollee. She is a hard worker. Puts everyone before herself. Tries her hardest to make her relationship with Astin work. It gives me great hope that she will have a happy ending in the next book. I hate the character Trinity. She is simply a bitch. She tries to ruin everyone around her mainly because she is miserable. I cannot wait for book 3 to come out and hopefully it will be soon. Cause I have to find out what happens with each of the characters. Thanks NetGalley and Kristina Adams for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

I rate this book 3 stars, it was good and kept me wanting to read it. But at the same time, it felt extremely long and it felt like it took me forever to read it. I did not read the first book of the series, What Happens in New York. I think if I had the read the first book, I would have understood the characters a bit better, and learned more of how they had become friends and the events leading up to the end of the novel. I recommend if you choose to read to this book, you should start with the first book.
This series is so frustrating. It has so much potential but just doesn't reach the mark. I really enjoyed the characters, none are picture perfect and they all have imperfections and issues to work through that make them relatable and engaging to read about which I love. The plot ideas are also strong but the actual writing is very poor and how the doffernt storylines mergw together isnt smooth. It's clunky and rushed in places and then repetitive and slow in others. Characters are chucked in without instructions so you have to read back and try to figure out who they are/if you've missed someone. Money is apparently just not an issue in anyone's life in this world and you can do whatever. It's very like "make belive" vibes. The ENDING. Again seriously, same as book 1 it just stops?? Mid plot but not as a cliffhanger. It just stops ans suddenly you get thr kindle "download book 3 now" page. Absolutely bizzare. I'm invested because of the characters and the bizzare plot lines so I will have to finish the series but I wish I hadn't bothered and if it wasn't free on KU there's no way.
I did enjoy this book, but it seemed to be less well-written than the first one; some of the writing came across a little immature and there wasn't as much emotion in it as I think the author tried to include. I also thought there was a lot of telling instead of showing. Having said that, I started it on Friday and finished it on Sunday, so another adventure of Hollie and Fayth that's hard to put down! :)
Didn't realise that this was second book in a series - and I have not read the first. Was well written with believable characters but a bit chick-lit in my view, more YA as well possibly. Not for me - I should perhaps have researched it bit more before applying for it as a Goodreads giveaway. But thanks for the opportunity, once again, to experience a further breadth of reading.
Overall the book wasn't bad but it was a bit long for the content. The last part of the book made it more interesting and things finally came together. The 1st book was so much better than this one. But I am interested enough to read the next one to see how it all ties together.
Hollie and Fayth are back home after their New York adventure with famous Liam York and his friend, Astin, who used to be an underwear model. But their trip has changed their lives forever as they are swept up into the struggles of Hollywood celebrities. Liam visits his friend Fayth in Scotland to help at the pub, trying to get away from the backlash of his fallout with Trinity Gold, his former costar in the HIghwater series and ex-girlfriend. But trouble follows him to the pub in a stalker who seems to be willing to do anything to get to him.
Astin, meanwhile, has a terrible accident during his stuntwork for a movie and is severely injured and in the hospital. Holly drops everything for her boyfriend to try and help, but he won't accept it. All the while, Holly is trying to finish a project for the famous Tate Gardener and is under a lot of business stress to try and make a name for herself in the fashion industry. She loves Astin dearly, but if she can't get through to him, what else can she do? Can their relationship survive this trauma? Or are they doomed to go their separate ways?
This second installment of the What Happens In... series is shockingly emotional and very deep. The trauma that the characters go through is very real and visceral. Adams's writing style is always real and emotional, but this rivals some of her later work in the Hollywood Gossip series in depth and serious topics. I have to recommend that you read book one in the series, or you won't have the knowledge of the characters you'll need to understand the full context of this book. Highly emotional and raw, this is a fantastic book. Cannot recommend this series enough so far.
I am always a bit hesitant reading a follow up novel 1 will it be as good and 2 will it taint the characters you loved in the first book?
I can honestly say this is just as good as the first book. You also could read this as a stand alone if you wanted but I would advice reading the first one as you get more of a feeling of their perspective andpersonalities.
It does leave on a small cliffhanger but one most readers can cope with. You not going to get a deep story but I would categorize this as a teenage novel like geek girl so it ticks all the boxes in that type of fiction. So if you looking for a good old fashioned light read then this for you. I have loved both books in the series and have downloaded a prequel to read.
Thanks to the author for allowing me to read this for an unbiased review.
I did not read the first book in this series. The blurb for What Happens in London caught my attention and I requested to read the book. I was granted my wish via NetGalley.com and the publisher.
Going into the story may have given me a different perspective. I started this story after the six characters, Liam, Fayth, Astin, Hollie, Tate and Jack, had meet in New York City in the previous book. There are flashback moments for Fayth and Hollie that brought a piece of history to the table that helped me follow the story-line.
Fayth has survived a year from hell and meet a great man that she securely set into the friends zone (in book 1). Liam reappears in book two and their relationship morphs and melds. With the accident of Hollie's boyfriend Astin, the selling of Fayth's family pub, the finalization of her divorce and the anniversary of her mother and sisters death, Fayth is stressed, an understatement of the century. Yet thru it all Liam becomes her rock. Liam has is own crazy life that takes a few twists and turns that I never expected. Protecting Fayth from that craziness is a priority but being with her, even in the friends zone, is what he really needs. She brings him an inner peace that he can't get anywhere else. But will the circus of a Hollywood career be too much and bring harm to their relationship or will it bring them closer?
Hollie and Astin are finding their way. After Hollie quit her job and Astin pushed her to follow her dream of fashion design, nothing seemed impossible. That was until an unfortunate accident on set that drastically changed Astin's outlook on life. Driven by her love for Astin, Hollie is by his side thru it all. Will their relationship last the ramifications of the accident? Will Astin accept her help?
Tate and Jack, wow. That is a whole relationship that needs it own book. I can't wait to explore their relationship. Tate's busy schedule never interfered with her being their for Hollie or Fayth. I really enjoyed seeing this positive side.
And Trinity... I was confused on her presence, along with Lawrence. But they did add a twist. I am sure there is more to come with these two.
I found this book kept my interest, was paced well, with a story-line that was well written, thought provoking and heart grabbing. I was happy and in love with the characters. Then I was mad as heck at events. And when I reached the last page I screamed "Oh No She Didn't" referring to the author. There are still questions to be answered and I can't wait to see how they play out in the next book. Now, I want to read the first one to see if it gives me a few more answers to my questions.
