This is the best selection of Alamgir Hashmi's poetry that I have seen. Kinsella has selected well and written an insightful introduction to this important poet whose work now spans a half century. Hashmi's work has been described as "vital" and "enduring". The poetry here speaks to the reader directly and is wonderfully rich in language and form. It is also a great resource across cultures.

If insight, eloquence, wisdom, can be put together in a friend's gentle voice speaking to you privately, this is it!
