Emma is a student, her teacher is replaced by Mr. Honor "His hair was dark and just long enough to pull of the 'just out of bed' look. His eyes were a piercing blue that matched his button up shirt that hugged his muscular chest perfectly."
Mr. Honor seems so hot yet we soon learn that he is controlling and likes to order Emma around with menacing texts and rapid commands of NOW!!!
Emma has a bit of fun in the bathroom with the girls...
But then gets a "lesson" from her new teacher.
Emma decides to give up her V-card to Mr. Honor by letting him tie her up with a belt AND to the bed...
They play a lovely game of cat and mouse teasing each other at the club...
Then it's more time at Mr. Honor's place where it should be this...
but instead you get this...
Soon our brand new couple hit a snag in the relationship...
But it is just a big misunderstanding...

This book was so bad I couldn't get past 40 pages, which was a struggle in itself. While I can't say if the spelling and grammar errors were due to the ebook copy I'd gotten, the sentences on their own were bad enough to make me unable to get through most of it. If you enjoy someone who can't write a decent compound sentence, this book is for you! The fact that a writer would make constant use of 3-5 word sentences and sentence fragments left me feeling like I was in a car with a student driver too long with all of the stopping and starting.
*SPOILERS HERE DOWN*
Emma is supposed to be 21 and in college, but I actually question if Teresa Mummert has ever stepped foot inside of a college.
1. Bells are ringing signaling class has ended?
Now I've been in college for quite some time, and have transferred between a couple. That being said never in my life has there been a bell signaling classes end. Shockingly college campuses have class that end at all different times.
2.Lunch Period
Colleges don't have lunch periods. They don't have lunch bells, and most of the time you are lucky to even get lunch. Other authors have done the lunch period in college thing and it hasn't bothered me like it does in this book. I think it's how much high school she's adding in that's just irritating.
3.Teachers caring if you go to class
No teacher in college tells you to go to class. They don't patrol the hallways, and half the time they don't even know if you have a class the next period. People actually stand around and talk quite often in college and no one really gives a crap.
4.Class Names (and activities)
Gym, History, Math? All high school terminology. No one in college refers to their classes by those terms. It's more like "Stats" "Yoga" ect. Because most of us are pretentious and like to sound like we're in classes that are worth paying money for. That being said, I've never in my life heard of someone playing dodgeball in college. Never. Not once for the couple hundred dollars you pay for a class.
5. The Office and Signing In
Though Emma makes a point to say "I'm an adult, this isn't high school you don't need to sign me in" it still fell right back into someone going in to set things up for her.
There's not just a set office to go into and talk to people. There's not really a guidance office (you have on campus psychologists maybe?) but all in all the buildings aren't set up this way
I don't know if it bothered anyone else to have these things in there. It was actually the reason I had to quit reading, aside from how ridiculous it all sounds. I kept trying to tell myself that Emma was in high school and that would help my pet peeves but it really didn't. She kept insisting it was college, all the while sounding like a high school girl giddy with a hot professor.

Bad. Really bad. I couldn’t get past first 30 pages.
The first thing that rubbed me wrong was writing. See for yourself:
I grabbed my old yearbook and walked into the kitchen for a drink. I slid the milk out of the way and grabbed a can of soda, along with a cheap bottle of vodka. I carried everything into the living and clicked on the television. I watched on old romance movie as I drank a small swig from the bottle.
Or another quote:
He let go off my arm and I trailed behind him as he walked to the far side of the room. He stopped at an island in the kitchen. He dug around in the cabinets and I waited awkwardly on the other side. He came up with a bottle of liquor and two small shot glasses.
Doesn’t the author know that there is such thing as a complex sentence?
And then there were heroes. Well… Mr.Honor was supposed to be this dark dominant Alfa-male.
“Do not talk to me like that. It pisses me off and you don’t want to see what I do when I am pissed off.” He barked angrily and I his tone was frightening.

“Look at me!” he barked and my eyes shot up to meet his.

“Spread your legs.” He demanded. I slid my feet apart slightly. “Wider!” he yelled angrily.
He is no dominant! He is just a psycho!
As for Emma… Girl, if your teacher (who you saw only a couple of times in your life) suddenly bents you over his desk and spanks your ass, you don’t feel awkward and silently leave his office. You should feel scared and go to dean office. She wasn’t in relationship with him. They didn’t even have one date! He saw her the third time in his life. So he just decided to spank her not knowing if she was into this kind of things, not knowing if she wanted it, not establishing the trust between them.
So my recommendation would be to stay as far away from this book as you can manage.

Huh #1 : The FMC is supposed to be a twenty-one-year-old college senior and a social outcast.
She tells us she's a social pariah," sitting alone and friendless for the last five years since she moved from Michigan.
It isn't that people are mean, but rather she didn't want to invest in relationships that would soon end. Uhm, she's lived there five years and hasn't a single friend; she hasn't even unpacked her clothes out of the boxes she moved FIVE years ago.
YET.....
She suddenly finds herself in a giggling fit after smoking pot with two girls in the bathroom. Said girls all but shove her out the door to take the blame when Prof. Honor comes banging on the college's girl's bathroom.
Like that'd happen.
Of course, Ms. Social Outkast then befriends said mean girls.
She drinks too much, cuts her hand and passes out. Her meany/nice aunt finds her and she's carried to hospital to get fixed up. <---- Now, that prompts the aunt to drive her to college, sign her in, and sign her up with the guidance councilor.
I can't.
Huh #2: "Mr. Honor" is supposed to be a college professor.
A college professor who....
Twirls a ruler in class.
Busts girls in the bathroom for smoking pot because they're giggling loudly.
Stands in the hall and shouts, "Get to class, ladies."
Thank Fuck I didn't go to that college!
Huh #3 : Spanking scene comes out of NOWHERE & ends NOWHERE....
Mr. Honor is in the office when FMC is being "signed in" by her aunt. He tells her to come to his room afterward because she missed class.
They've said five sentences to each other and just laid eyes on each other two days ago.
He takes off his shirt and asks what happened to her hand. Accident, she says.
Bam, he spreads her on his desk and spanks her ass. It's over and she's off to another class without so much as a single word.
Huh #4: No dick can be that mesmerizing.
Mr. Honor brings her to his house.
Rejects her because she's a virgin.
She storms off to a bar & gets shitfaced.

Pain? Where? When? Who? How?
Afterwards, he hands her a pink hairbrush he has on hand to tidy her appearance up.
Finally, the "strange person" is addressed and the FMC is in danger from an unknown stalker writing threatening letters.
Danger Will Robinson: She can't go home and can't stay there. Calm as a cucumber and question-less at this, she decides to stay with her new friend.
She and her new BFF sit in her gothic bedroom in HER MOM's house and eat cookies and smoke pot before she and " William the Conqueror" (his choice of name... not mine) start texting.
His I want to do dirty shit to you to her I miss you to his don't do that didn't go over well. Solution - clubbing with her new bestie.
GPS on her phone alerts him.
He shows.
They have a contest of who can flirt with OW/OM better before heading off to his "play room" where he spanks her ass in a scene that's so much like FSOG with the exception that FMC here is regretful vs mad.
Huh # DNF : He loves someone else but loves the FMC more.
Turns out ol Will doesn't know if he still loves an older woman from his past that emerges.
However, he assures the FMC (after one weekend together) that he most def loves her "more than anything." To which she replies, "Make love to me ." To which he does.
Uhmmm, He may love another woman...

1. Asking someone drunk to come pick her up.
2. Driving multiple times with people drinking both while & before driving.
3. Doesn't bat an eye when someone wrecks their car drunk.
4. Driving/being drove recklessly when angry.
What I Liked?
A different book by the author, "Pretty Little Things," https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1690080098
... which was fabulous.
Here? Ehh,
DNF @70% because this is a multi-book series that I know that I will not be continuing.
Bottom Line
The many, many, many threads being so close to FSOG didn't escape my attention.
The setting, plot, and characters are completely incongruent and contradict each other. This felt like High School High meets the cartoon version of FSOG's Christian.
The virgin FMC behaves & speaks like a young, clueless teen with the sexual knowledge & comfort of a porn queen. Not believable. At. All.
At the end of every scene sequence, this alternates between him perusing her and her backing away to her perusing him and him pushing her alway. Melodrama don't even begin to describe it.

★★★★★! I highly recommend this series. I couldn’t put it down.
Wonderful! I looked at this series for weeks not realizing that it would be one of the most enjoyable and sexiest books/series I have ever read. Hero, William Honor (29 years/dark brown hair/blue eyes) is better than Christian Grey (!) in class with Gideon Cross, albeit darker. He will stay with you for awhile, especially book 2 written from his POV. I wish Ms. Mummert would let us know how many books total… will a Book 5/6 end series? Please read series in order. Also, I love the cover art and if I’m not mistaken it was made by the author herself – good job!

And I haven't even finished it...The characters are less than one dimesional and to boot the sex is not even that great ... If you are gonna make plotless personality drained characters at least make the sex scenes worth it... Bah

Fuck it! I decided I am going to bitch about it! Since it’s ruining me to start on any other book and I stayed late up hoping it would actually improve. So, I say it deserves my words!
Hmm where should I start?
There is so much wrong with the first few pages that I don’t even know where to start.
I’m gonna skip the depressing sob story that had no meat to it. It was portrayed as blandly as if just listing groceries. Mom dead, dad dead, moved from home, live in new place, all alone, don’t have friends, never unpacked (lazy)…
Cry me a river!
Then she goes to class sees a hot teacher and hot teacher threatens her on the consequences of being late… Whatever.. What was she a high schooler? If you are late in college no one gives a flying fuck cuz you’re accountable to yourself. And if a teacher gets in your face about it then he has no right to touch you ESPECIALLY not beat you. Although according to my middle school student handbook corporal punishment was still approved this was back in 2004 and in Florida so let’s give it a pass…
BUT ON DEAD FLUFFY KITTENS!
After the threat on tardiness he sees she came in late to school, notices the bandages and then beats her? What?
First of all he said if she was late to class he never said anything about missing class! BAM! Second of all how are you going to beat her when she obviously had an accident!
Then she just goes out frolicking like he just gave her an orgasm. So where is the shock? Humiliation? Pleasure maybe? Give me something other than “oh I couldn’t think of anything but him physically abusing me and me letting him”.
I’m all pro BDSM! LOVE IT! But that wasn’t consensual or even close to satisfying, if you are going to do the whole aggression against will then give me some emotion to work with. These characters were as lifeless and flat as scripted porn stars.
Let me tell you something, someone just up and grabs me bends me over and beats the shit out of me after a hang over from hell, a visit to the emergency room and stiches. STICHES! I’m not gonna take it laying down! She’s all like ‘Yes, sir, can I have another’ and what I would have done was

So about the time space continuum leaps.
Let me assure you as someone from Florida that it is highly unlikely and I MEAN HIGHLY that someone just happens to live somewhere and oh there is a bar down the street! HIGHLY! Florida requires you to have a car or at least hop on the bus and why that dumb bitch didn’t grab a taxi is beyond me! But let’s back track. So he takes her to his house and he is all ‘I’m gonna do you til you can’t walk’ then finds out she is a virgin somehow through ESP since she doesn’t say much in that scene beyond yes or no. And then he pulls back faster than you can say “Fuck me gently with a chain saw” which was my same expression when I read this non sense. Then she’s all boo hoo and walks out, somehow walks to the bar her friends happen to be in (I CALL BULLSHIT!). What shoes was she wearing? Huh? Huh? Cuz even flats might be comfy but try to walk on the streets with them and you won’t last 30 minutes! So if you wanna walk around…

I’m gonna skip the depressing sob story that had no meat to it. It was portrayed as blandly as if just listing groceries. Mom dead, dad dead, moved from home, live in new place, all alone, don’t have friends, never unpacked (lazy)…

Then she goes to class sees a hot teacher and hot teacher threatens her on the consequences of being late… Whatever.. What was she a high schooler? If you are late in college no one gives a flying fuck cuz you’re accountable to yourself. And if a teacher gets in your face about it then he has no right to touch you ESPECIALLY not beat you. Although according to my middle school student handbook corporal punishment was still approved this was back in 2004 and in Florida so let’s give it a pass…

2.5 stars Honor Student really had potential but the fact that it was rushed, riddled with grammatical errors, completely unbelievable, and sometimes completely confusing left me no choice but to rate it poorly. Emma was a college student and not a high school student wasn't believable from how she was portrayed. First off Emma is 21, not 17.... I know you're shocked too right?!? From having to "check in" with her aunt and the way the college atmosphere is described (what college professor cares if you go to your next class or not, or bangs on the ladies restroom to make sure no ones skipping class) I started thinking maybe the author made an error and really Emma was a 17 year old high school senior...but nope she's in college. So that was the first thing that really bugged me about this book. The second was how rushed it was. I felt the relationship developed way too fast. There was no concept of time whatsoever. It seems like she just met Mr. Honor, gave it up, graduated, went on vacation with him, met his parents, and committed way too fast. How much time did it take for all this to go down, a week?? I don't want to rag on this book completely though because I liked William and the storyline was interesting and left me wondering what made William tick. I'm going to read Honor Thy Teacher anyway because the series has potential and I'm hoping I'll be right in thinking I'll get more story through William's POV.

As I am a sucker for a rich, bossy Dom... I absolutely loved the story!
Why a 4 then? Well in some things I felt the story a bit too rushed and there is almost an expectation for the reader to fill in the blanks by themselves. Other then that I developed a sub crush on William the Conquerer and Dom crush on Emma.

I read some reviews before reading this book and SO many people compared to to 50 Shades that I figured I had to read it. Because if it was anything like that book I would like it. In my opinion there were similarities between the two books, the main one being that William and Christian are alike. They both are Doms and have a need for control. They both have a bit of a tortured past and they both fall for a girl that they don't want to corrupt, but can't seem to stay away from. But that is where the similarities end, I think. The story lines are completely different.
I really enjoyed getting to know William. He was sort of unpredictable, especially at the beginning. I sure wasn't expecting that first bit of discipline he enforced during school hours. Completely took me by surprise. One thing I found kind of weird was how he never really asked Emma about her past. He never asked her why she lived with her aunt. Oh well, there are more books in this series so I'm assuming they have more time to learn about each other.
I loved the times where William's emotions showed through. He was a very closed off person and shut down before his emotions started show. But there were a few times, more towards the end of the book where he let his guard down. The time I'm thinking of in particular that I loved was when she we was sunbathing and he ran to her not being able to stand the thought of her possibly being through with him. Loved it!
OK so this whole review has been about William. I liked Emma, too. I liked that she didn't stick around when she felt unwanted. As soon as William rejected her she turned tail and ran. Self preservation I guess. But I liked that about her. I liked that even though her character could have been very emotionally needy, (after everything that happened her in family) but she wasn't. I also liked that even though she would submit to William, she still pushed the boundaries and pushed him when he hurt her. The part I have in mind is when she went to the club and danced with Jeff. I'm glad she didn't let him bully her.
I can't wait to read Honor Thy Teacher, I really want to get into Williams head and see things from his point of view. I'm so glad there is more story to come after these two books. I can't wait!

Now let's be honest here....
I read a lot of books. And every so often you find a book that just stuns you. And not in a good way.
This book feels like it is written by a kid in high school. The author clearly has no idea about how things are in college vs high school. The main character Emma talks about getting high and drunk far too much and generally behaves like a stroppy teenager. Mr Honor seems to be a direct parody of Christian Grey - if I was E L James I would be seriously pissed off with this author!!! Let's recap- they are both rich beyond measure, they are both controlling and into relatively tame BDSM, they both have barriers up until they meet the right woman when they start going on about how much they love them. They both take their partners virginity, they both use GPS to track their partner, they both have a playroom in their house. I mean C'MON!!! If you're gonna write something can you please try to be original!!!
All of this I could have overlooked- except for the fact that it sounds like it has been written by a kid who is failing English. The sentences are clunky, the grammar is off and the dialogue is cringe worthy. I have read some books that clearly need more editing (FSOG anyone?) but this is ludicrous!! If this is the standard of book that can hold a decent rating in this genre then i'm off to throw down some words on a page and make me some money!!!

this was one of the worst books i've ever read. nothing really made sense.
the book had a decent start but then it was just a downhill mess afterwards.
Emma is supposed to be in college but there were bells announcing classes were over. what college did she attend?
Mr. Honor spanks her for being late for class and honestly that was kinda hot but then later when they meet up again he's like what's your safe word? wait what???
the story felt really choppy and before i knew it they were saying i love you, again What????
and i'm sorry, this is a series???? you better believe i wont be wasting my time on this crap!

Decir que no me gustó es quedarse corta. No es sólo que esté mal escrito es que la historia no tiene ni pies ni cabeza. Pasa todo muy rápido, los personajes no tienen profundidad, no hay lógica en ninguno de sus actos, es todo muy robotico.
No sentí ninguna emoción leyéndolo... y creo que hasta las escenas hot son malas.
Una gran decepción. Fui incapaz de seguir leyendo. Leí casi la mitad del libro, y aunque odio dejar los libros a media, este libro no vale ni siquiera la pena para llegar hasta el final.
Con Honor Student, no sentí absolutamente nada. Solo aburrimiento por lo mecánico de cada escena, estos personajes no tienen vida, ni emociones.
Y, por dios!! Fui incapaz de contar las veces que la tonta de Emma se mordió el labio. Es tonta o que? Lo único que hace durante todo el libro es morderse el labio. No tiene nada mejor que hacer? UGHHH

After reading this book I found myself thinking that if I had a sexy college professor like William Honor I might have finished college and gotten my degree but my punctuality would have plummeted. :-)
HONOR STUDENT is the first book in the Honor Series and let me just say...On my honor, it's an awesome book. From the moment I started reading I couldn't put it down. On top of the sexual tension between Emma and William and the hot love scenes you have the added drama that someones after them trying to destroy them and the mystery of what William's keeping secret from Emma.

3.5 stars actually !!!
I thought about how my life had drastically changed after the last few days. I had been on a downward spiral, but after meeting Mr. Honor I felt like I had a reason to get up in the morning, a reason to show up to class. Here he was feeling as if he had ruined my life, but I felt like he had saved it. He had saved me. I was finally living.
Oh my god !! I loved this book ! William and Emma are two really bruised souls who find solace in each other . William loves control and Emma gives him exactly what he needs . Nothing can go wrong with that , can it ?? Well , you are wrong ! William doesn't let anyone get too close to him and Emma cant help herself , she's falling in love with this guy and she's not too sure as to whats going on in his mind . Add to that a really greedy ex-wife , a sorta love affair and a really complicated relationship that keeps getting steamier and hotter than before - and you have a really angsty BDSM-esque love story !!
I loved Emma's character . She seemed too calm and composed from the outside , but on the inside she was full of burning emotions . She's on a self destructive path thats gonna lead her to her untimely doom . But William Honor , her substitute History teacher steps in at the right time and pulls her out of her misry business . But has he really fixed up all the issues or are there certain things that need to be addressed ?? Read the book to find out .
The book has some serious editing issues , but I loved the story so I'm completely over looking that !! Sometimes I felt the situation seemed too rushed , but I still enjoyed it . Emma and Williams sexy steamy encounters had my mind and my heart racing !! For a teacher , William was just too hot to handle with his tribal tattoos !! I loved him as well ! One could totally relate to his emotion resisitant barriers ..
I cant wait to find out whats gonna happen next because the ending was a little too surprising ! Whats gonna be Emma's answer .. I have to know !!!!

4 1/2 stars! While desperately searching amazon for a new book I stumbled upon this little gem! Some reviews say this book is somewhat Shades of Grey'ish. Which sure there are a few similarities such as the biting of the lip but in all fairness these two books are not one in the same and should be cherished as the unique individuals they are. That being said Honor Student was fantastic! I loved the dynamics between the characters. Innocent but feisty Emma and dominating alpha William who deep down has a soft loving side just waiting to be released. There is also the threat of danger intertwined in the main characters lives that gives this wonderful story a nice twist and of course there's also the romantic scenes that are swoon worthy! I'm am itching at the bit to get my fingers on the sequel!

I didn't know what to expect from this book at first because I didn't read the description of the book....I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It has a 50 shades feel to it. Similar in the respect of troubled man meets troubled and shy girl. This book was a little rougher for me to read because the male character was a little more mean in the beginning. I still enjoyed this book, there is the love story with a bit of suspense to it. I won't say more there because it would give to much away. It does end with a cliffhanger so I am anxiously waiting for the next book in the series to be released. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoyed 50 shades of grey and likes a love story with suspense and some BDSM in it. I did read this in one sitting, it is much shorter then 50 shades but I don't feel that the story was rushed, I felt it flowed well.

On a boring Friday night I randomly picked a book to read out of my ever-growing to-read list on my eReader. Honor Student just happened to be it. About two hours - and plenty of eye-rolling - later I got to two of the sweetest words in the English language "The End."
My first reaction: What...in the fuck...did I just read? Seriously, what in the fuck did I just read?
This book was very poorly constructed. The characters are not fleshed out enough to get to know who they are and why you should sympathize with them. The only feeling I could summon was anger because of the amount of stupidity scrawled across each page.
Emma was spineless and boring. There wasn't much to her. There was nothing special about her, something to make me sympathize with her. William went from bat-shit to bat-shittier. He was a stalker and insanely jealous. And running in the same vein as Emma, there was nothing there to empathize with. He was just an abusive, maniacal dick.
All Emma did was cry and run away the three hundred fifty-two times William said "I can't do this" or "I'm no good for you." Literally ever other page they had some sort of falling out, usually after they screwed.
Then all of a sudden they are all like "I wuv you." They didn't know much about each other. And whenever they share their lives it was only a few casual sentences, like they were commenting on the weather. Stuff like: I used be married to a gold-digger, lol!! Now tell me who you belong to. And that was it.
This book was big on badly executed sexual encounters and short on details or a fully formed plot to give it any sort of depth.

If I could give this book zero stars I would. It was a horrible mix between Sylvain Reynard's Gabriel's Inferno and E.L. James 50 Shades of Grey, hell it is actually not even that close to 50 Shades, it a horribly bastardised version of Gabriel's Inferno. There are no redeeming features. The characters are horrible, you get no back story, the main female character suddenly gets friends after the third chapter for no reason other than later on the book she might need a ride. The male character is an ass. Not in the interesting way Christian Grey is or how the other domineering characters can be, no he is an angry individual who I found is unsympathetic and unrelatable. The plot line made no sense and it was jumbled and lost. The book, if it wanted to be done right, should have been 200 pages longer and should have bee proofread. Get someone to proofread your novels. This book was worst than some fanfiction I have read. Please for the love of God, Jesus, Buddah,Alah, J.K. Rowlings, Twilight, or the many hands of Vishnu, please make a deal with the devil to improve you writing. Honestly, at least re-read your work before you publish it, preferable out loud.

Wow! Great book that I enjoyed reading! It was too short for my liking, but I was intrigued by the characters from the beginning. Emma was disconnected and sad without true sense in her life- her relationship with her aunt was disappointing and lacking. She was instantly drawn to Mr. Honor; however, things got complicated to soon with their attraction. She sensed his darkness, but the attraction was too strong and love followed soon! I liked how she still stood her ground even though she always gave in to her love for William! She left him after he thought she could be pregnant and that's how he realized he couldn't ever be without her!

I should have listened to the negative reviewers. They were all dead on. The story felt way too rushed. The writing felt like something you would find in a diary, as opposed to a novel from one person's perspective. It felt choppy, unclear, and just didn't flow.
I won't touch on the grammatical errors, b/c that ALONE was almost enough for me not to finish the book.
I kept through it, hoping that it will get better toward the end...but alas...now I just felt like I wasted my time.

William Honor... Mmmmmmm. Okay, the only complaint I have about this book is it was too short! It still gets 4 stars because there are 2 more :-)

Cover & Title - 5 out of 5
I was unsure whether of not i would like this book from reading the reviews, I was hoping that I would like it & be against the curve of the other reviewer but sadly this is not the case.
Where did the book go wrong for me you ask?
1. The writing style was i think lacking, i wonder if this is one of her first books and she will get better in time. Hopefully this is the case because i have already bought another book by her *grin*
2. I didn't really believe the characters or the story. It all seemed a bit like a fucked up dark fairy tale (all make belief). I was just waiting for the next stupid or pointless part to come up constantly.
3. William & Emma kinda creeped me out being together, she seemed to be far younger than 21 (she reminded me of a child), i really felt like he was taking advantage of her at the start at least.
4. William was an arsehole.

I enjoyed this book, but did struggle at times with some thing that confused me....mr honor just seemed mean and hurtful. Towards the end he totally changed for the good and I will enjoy the next book from his pov so I can fill in some of the pieces. As far as Emma...she was pretty freaking trusting of him. His temper would have scared me to death.
I am definitely looking forward to the third book. Anyone know when it's coming out?

I just finished it, and it was good. I'm not a big fan of BDSM but I really liked this book. Looking forward to read Honor and Obey!

While reading this book, I can't help myself to think that it has a lot of resemblance with Gabriel's Inferno (teacher-student relationship) and Fifty shades of Grey . Some parts really made me smile because of the similarity with the scenes in Fifty shades and it made me remember those moments! Though the story was okay, but it didn't work for me and can't say that its good because I think it lacks character development and it didn't stir my emotions. :)

This review doesn't really have spoilers but it does have a few details of things that happen in the story that lead me to give the review below. Nothing is written that will give away the point of the story or any significant details to ruin the story.
This book is a mess. I'm used to reading books with lots of editing and grammatical errors - especially in this genre but there is usually at least a decent building up of the story. This "book" jumped all over the place. One minute Emma is a total loner, doesn't know anyone and likes it that way... literally the next page she is smoking pot in the girls bathroom with her two new best friends and they are going out to bars and the movies and having lunch together, etc. What? And there is no dialogue. I don't even believe they are friends because there is no talking between them. Plus this is supposed to be a college setting but it very much felt like high school with lunch periods, teachers catching you in the hallway and sending you off to class, and checking in at the office for being late. Whatever.
But the main craziness is that we are supposed to believe this true love relationship between teacher and student. They have been "dating" for about 3 days and half that time William is ignoring Emma, or he's glaring at her, or he's yelling at her, or he's telling her to stay away from him, but then he tells her he loves her more than anything - 3 days. And, the day before he hooked up with Emma he had been screwing the school secretary (and Emma saw them together). Right, ok, not believing that. Especially because again, there has been zero conversation between the two of them except him making commands or snide comments and Emma apologizing for something she doesn't understand. Guess what Emma, we don't understand either.
AND... William is supposed to be a Dom... so WHAT THE HELL is he doing slamming shots before he straps her down and hits her? And not just once? And he was slamming shots when they had sex for the first time and she was a virgin!!! Not a very good Dom if you ask me. And a Dom is supposed to put the safety of his sub before anything else... not only does he not do that when he's drinking but he also let's her leave his house, at night, alone, on foot, more than once!!!! What?? Not very caring.
I can't even list how many inconsistencies there were in this book, how jumbled everything was because stuff just happened without any leading up to it. I'm not a big fan of too much description - I don't want to know what everyone is wearing and the color of the sky and all that, but this book is lacking way too much in the deatils. And if we're supposed to cheer on this relationship... I can't do that either - William is just a jerk in my book. People say the 2nd book is better because it is this same story but told from William's POV and we learn a lot of what was going on in his mind through this supposed relationship. Maybe this author should have taken all these books she's writting, each from a different POV, and combined them into 1 book. Then there might have been enough detail to make the story work. But what do I know, I'm just a reader.

BLOWN AWAY! I hate seeing this series get compared to 50 Shades because it is so much better. William is a professor who has a wealthy father but they don't get along. He has a very crazy past (as we learn in book two) and he has not changed. At least not yet. He falls for Emma, but is willing to do anything to keep her and to keep his secrets. He is twisted and crazy but somehow this series makes it so incredibly hot. I highly recommend this series. Can't wait for the rest.
