Sinister Vows

Rate this book
I was sold to the Don of the Italian mafia when I was twelve years old. Now, at twenty, I’ve been summoned to Nicolas Capasso’s home, a man I’ve never even met, for my wedding day. No wiser of what it means to be a wife to a man like him.
Let alone what goes on between a husband and wife in the dark.
Nonetheless, I was assured it was all part of the plan .
Step one, marry the Don. Got it.
Step two, provide him with as many children as he requires. Gross.
Step three, live silently and dutifully as the wife to the most powerful man in history. Oh, come on.
The only thing standing in the way of completing such a simple plan, you ask.
The blessing ceremony on the eve of my wedding.
The most outdated form of torture imaginable on a pure bride like me, and something my family had been doing for centuries.
Yet, when I found myself dressed in white, laid atop a ceremonial bedspread, and offered up to the deviant priest as a sacrifice, the man that walked into the room wasn’t at all what I expected.
Don’t even get me started on what he did to my body during the ceremony, or what carnal things he made me feel while he did it.
My future marriage was supposed to be blessed by the ceremony, paving the way to a peaceful union between our families.
But if that was the case, why was it the man from the night before that consumed my every thought as I walked down the aisle the next day?

So this unfortunately was not a forbidden priest romance affair on a side of mafia stuff - bummer 😔 either way, I would give this one a miss for you dark romance readers that still like women, overall, respected and not turned into submissive, personality-lacking, man-dependant, sad husks of the girls they were at the beginning of the stories - see my reading update notes for specific-ish reasons (I will note though that I was profoundly sleep deprived and maybe a bit crazed the whole time I was writing them 😅 I blame the book)

9.0% "I'm lauging so hard right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And he's also got the biggest dick 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 of course 😂"

9.0% "Oh, this is not healthy"

9.0% "For a moment there I forgot he was still a priest 😂"

9.0% "The man sneeres a lot"

15.0% "*sneers"

16.0% ""A fire burned in his eyes"
Me: 🤭blushing profusely and giggling"

17.0% "This is peak women writing posessive men and I love it"

18.0% "I will say though, I kinda thought this would be a forbidden priest romance and this is straight up mafia marriage, but, oh, well"

20.0% "I'm starting to think his mother never showed him affection"

20.0% "Also, unfortunately, I think it pushed the fine line between I like pain and yet I still care about your well being and I like pain and you're not a person, but a posession. Pity"

23.0% "This was so much hotter when I thought he was a priest. They could've had an affair on top of a forbidden romance. Tragic"

23.0% "The man gave her a quarter of a strawberry, a bite of cheese and a piece of ham after a whole day of not eating, in exchange for giving her a pair of socks - this is my sign to leave 😐"

25.0% "Yeah, so I didn't heed the signs and decided to skim the text a bit more... yeah, that was a mistake. It got worse. among other things, he met with her when she was much younger apparently and she doesn't remember?? god, this does not sound good.
Why couldn't I have gotten a nice "a priest passionately fucks with someone even though he shouldn't" book😭"

28.0% "Is rubbing your hands over your abs some sort of fit older man kink??? - cause the only comparison to real life in this regards that I have is when like a dad-type man with a belly does that and it's definitely not a turn on then 🤨 (like you know, when you're standing in your own garden and you just ate or sth)"

35.0% "Yeah, so first she forgets he acts like her father, then forgets he doesn't listen to her, etc, etc, pretty sure she'll soon forget she didn't actually want to get pregnant and had no say on the matter"

35.0% "Wait, the mc just had a deep psychological thought process, there's hope yet. Maybe it'll turn into a mind games book, ooooooo excittteeeeddd 🤩"

37.0% "Oooohhh, this definitely got interesting. But in a psychological way. If he doesn't turn out a dick by the end of it, then this will be fucked again. The mc has gotten so smart, like you go girl, kick him in the nuts"

43.0% "idk, I feel like there's ~possessiveness~ and then there's -your wife is kind of terrified when you show up, not in a sexy way, and you don't allow her to hang out with other people without your presence - , you know?"

43.0% "excuse the mistakes, it's late and this story is starting to annoy me"

43.0% ""he smirked down at me" done after a serious accusation was said, is really starting to get on my nerves"

43.0% "I'm so tired I'm not even sure if what I wrote down a moment ago was gramatically sound - I wrote smirked, right? I want to sleep 😭😭
Can you say gramatically sound???"

44.0% "Yeah, you know what, I knew it wouldn't actually get better and yet I stayed on. Like I said possessiveness is hot; treating your partner like an inferior being, actually hurting them and kind of plotting to get rid of them at some point or using them only for your own pleasure and/or breeding purposes with no thought to the feelings they have - is not it"

44.0% "Oh, also - his pov makes it seem like it's all her fault. And then she has some kind of Stockholm syndrome from all the trauma in her life, so apart from the rare lucid moments of very intelligent psychological reasoning she let's him use her and brainwash her into thinking she is also to blame for how she's treated and she should actually be thankful"

44.0% "rip to the priest he could've been 🙏🏻"

44.0% "I'm so much fun this late at night🤣... oh god, this could've actually been interpretted as an innuendo🤣🤣🤣🤣"

45.0% "Oh, right - I completely forgot he just almost choked her to death... apparently so did she 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣"

45.0% "He didn't wash his hands 😭😭😭😭😭😭"

46.0% "Oh, god, he's insinuating that he choked her unconscious cause she had a fit

This in no way is a dark passionate romance, this is just straight up abuse, conditioning and stockholm syndrome.

I hate that I can't leave it, honestly no redeeming qualities at this point, he's just actually fucked in the head, not in a sexy way"

47.0% "“Are you fucking my chef?” he snapped, staring directly into my eyes,
thanks to his height.
“Do you honestly think I’m fucking your chef?” I snapped back, “Simply
because he is nice to me? You’ve never been nice to me, yet I still fuck you. Clearly niceties aren’t what gets me off.”

I will admit this was fun - though, everything else, not so much"

47.0% "The man smirks entirely too much. I'm pretty sure this could be a drinking game"

87.0% "This is so fucked up... It's four in the morning"

89.0% "😐 he calls her little one, cause that's what he called her when they met when she was 12 and he was in his twenties 😐😐😐 if that doesn't say everything you need to know about why not to read this book, than I can't help you
I will admit though, up until this point, I had a bit of fun, dubious fun, but still - fun"

89.0% "I made fun of him a lot - that was most of it 😆"

86.0% "I think this book messed with my head, cause honestly if this was a fantsy novel and he an immortal = that meeting had no disturbing tones - it's said that he met her, had a conversation with her, no attachment of any kind whatsoever except a kid who impressed him, no intention of going through with the weird arranged marriage and then he saw her when she was like 19/20 and was really into her
Like - weird, weird, but-"

86.0% "Also if he had the personality of his twenty-something year old self, I think this book could've been quite good

As it is it's like that weird kinky fanfiction that is not really right in the head, but you will read it, skimming, to the end - cause, like, it's so fucked up that you can't stop till you hit end"

98.0% "That ending sentence was shit"

98.0% "Entertaining for a (forgot the actual word I wanted to use) guilty one night binge read, but glad to be done with this"

HOLY MAFIA ROMANCE! Lately, my mafia books I have picked up have just not hit all the boxes, but I received the Arc of SINISTER Vows, and Nico is 100 percent hitting all the boxes. What a dirty, smutty, and criminal filled ride.
Nico and Arianna were arranged to marry when she was 12, and now , it's finally time to marry the wolf. Her family has a horrible tradition of a blessing where a priest the night before the wedding a priest blesses her body to ready her, but a priest is not the one who shows up. She can't stop thinking about the man who made her body sing when she walks down the aisle.
This Mafia book was so many layers you had Aris devastating upbringing and Nico rule now that his dad is dead. I loved this relationship and how it is full steam obession and hate. The side characters with Molly I adored. The smut scene jeez lousise was top tier, and I was panting each chapter. Loved loved loved it.

I lost all respect for heroin in the first few chapters when she admits she knows she is being drugged but still drinks it. He must be bipolar one second he hates her next second he is obsessed with her next he chokes next than he says never mind i will no longer force your fertility i will just try normal things to get you pregnant. The story was all over the place and i felt like it dis not flow well and the characters kept changing their minds on their feelings.

~ Breeding
~ Enemies to lovers
~ dubcon/noncon
~ kink- dinner table 🔥

I have mixed thoughts on the characters, I felt like there was inconsistency and whiplash in their love/hate relationship. One minute it’s flowery words the next it’s choking and threats. I really enjoyed the smut, Nico is a dominant sexy lover who’ll set your panties on fire. Loved the breeding trope, no birth control allowed.

I found inconsistent story lines (like in the beginning I thought he said he hadn’t been intimate with anyone in months, then at the end he said he slept with someone the same day he took her virginity). Honestly I feel that conversation was pointless and just thrown in for shock value. He’s not even regretful about it, yet we’re also told he’s enchanted and obsessed with the heroine. Just so many contradictions to work through. I didn’t feel like I ever got a good read on Nicos thought processes.

I’ll try one more book by this author because the smut and banter was fantastic. There were some beautiful quotes that unfortunately didn’t save to Goodreads.

I’m not sure why I finished this. The writing needs some editing. There’s a difference between conceded and conceited. Things like that had me a little twitchy, but the up and down with the MMC was a little too bi polar to me. At first the plan was to do away with his new wife, but it almost instantly changed with no real reason.

I skipped a lot of parts. He calls her Little One, granted there is an age gap, but it made me cringe. And the use of “ugh” was way overdone for me.

Arianna and Nico are your average mafia arranged marriage trope but with a severe age gap. Which honestly, I was just glad he was disgusted until of course she grows up then… well, we have this story.

I’m angry because the beginning and ending were very strong. Somewhere in the middle I lost interest and kept reading because I wanted to know what happened. I was more invested in Arianna and her siblings. I could read a whole set of books about them. I loved how they protected each other, or tried, and really loved each other. Growing up with those abusive parents didn’t break them. If anything their love was used against them.

I have two really big concerns that have nothing to really do with the story that still bother me. First, why was that book cover model chosen? He looks nothing like what is described in the book. Second what happens to their awful mother? She just disappears. Will she make an appearance later in another book? Is she dead? She was awful and deserved to suffer. I hate that she just disappears.

“Better to be together in death, than be alone in life. You are my heart; without you, it does not beat. I do not thrive. I do not exist.”

Ari and Nico were everything I needed in this book. The love they form for one another made my heart weep. I loved how Ari grows into this confident and fierce woman. She is truly a badass. The way Nico treats her even though he is so rough on the exterior, is *chef’s kiss*.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (The banter between Nico and Ari was so so HOT.)

Tbh, I didn’t expect this book much because of the reviews, but surprisingly, it turned out to be a quite pleasant read.

The writing was nice, very easy to read and follow, the storyline flowed pretty well with lots of interesting dramas and details that caught my attention and kept me so invested from the first moment til the very end.

Although, til this day, I still couldn’t understand the MMC’s sudden change towards the FMC. I mean, he was so kind and nice to her, right from the start, and you can also see it even from their past, but sometimes his words, and actions, said otherwise that ngl, I really thought he was gaslighting her and had some kind of plan/ punishment behind all of it lol.

Still, I enjoyed this a lot and wish that there were extra epilogue(s) where we could see them breaking their family’s cycle and becoming the best parents their parents could never be.

This is an arranged marriage, dark mafia romance and follows Ari and Nicolas. Plot, drama, and spice we’re all good. My only criticism would be. I wish there was more spice.

***spoilers
Arianna (Ari) is 21 and a mafia princess. Her parents (Emilio and Mina Rosetti) treat her like garbage. She endured years of abuse both physical and emotional. Her parents saw her as a means to an end through an arranged marriage for money and power. They also give her a “tonic“ to keep her compliant.
Nicolas (Nico) is the head or Don of the Cosa Nostra. Nico’s father arranged a marriage between him and Ari eight years earlier. Ari’s father is a snake and the only reason he is kept around is because of how much money he has. When Nico became Don, he arranged for his financial situation, to not be dependent on Emilio Rosetti. Nico makes arrangements to get rid of the Rosetti line, this includes the children, even Ari. Eventually, Nico and Ari fall in love, and Nico no longer wants to eradicate everyone, just the ones who are against him. This ensures that Ari and her siblings will be safe.
There is an archaic ceremony that the Rossetti‘s hold in mandatory tradition the night prior to the wedding. The priest has to “prepare“ each v-card bride. Obviously this is traumatic but Ari’s parents force her to comply. That night blows her mind as it’s Nico, not the priest. But she doesn’t know until she walks down the aisle. Somehow Emilio finds out Nico disrespected their traditions and plots his revenge for the disrespect.
Nico and Emilio are out for each other. Carmine and Christian, Ari’s brothers, pledge allegiance to Nico and try to help Nico take their father down. Ari’s sisters have been brought to their house for safety while her brothers and Nico try to get to Emilio for revenge. Come to find out it was a trap as her youngest sister Anita was feeding her guard information. To Anita, she saw a different side to her parents than any of her other siblings. It was hard for her to come to terms with them, unaliving her parents. Ari comes in, like the queen she is, and saves the day.

What. A. Read.

Nico had me swooning from the jump! That man bulldozed through a ritual and let me tell you… I wanted to worship at this man’s altar🥵🫠 As with most arranged marriages this was an unwanted one on both ends sort of-ish… Nico and Ari were engaged since she was 12! Nico was a lot older at that point. Her parents were quite the pair and not in a good way😡 Their story was draped in them falling in-love and battling enemies from both sides. There was spice, plot, vi0lence, and tons of drama.

Absolutely my favorite read to the start off the new year!!!

Ari and Nico had an arranged marriage. What Ari didn’t remember was she met Nico at the age of 12years where the agreement all started. Nico was much older than her, but he knew that Ari was going to his no matter what.

Ari’s family had a barbaric tradition where a priest will bless the union by having sex before the marriage. Nico being the mafia don wasn’t gonna let that happen, if anyone’s having sex with his new bride it will be him. After that faithful night, Ari was drugged by her parent to keep her obedient. Nico finding out that Ari’s parents were very abusive to her, made him want to protect what was his.

Like every arranged, mafia romance it started off where the characters where enemies to lovers. I enjoyed their banter and how the characters slowly fall in love with each other. Definitely a HEA.

Yes! This book was my absolute favorite and will be a re-read for me.

Nico is no “wolf in sheep’s clothing”. No, he is The Wolf. The biggest, baddest, in your face, Don of the Mafia. He also happens to be Ari’s betrothed she’s never met. After a lifetime of being used and abused by the hands of her parents all to be “sold” off to the highest bidder, Arianna has resigned herself to her fate. But the Wolf isn’t exactly what she imagined. Can they find a way to look past their differences and give this marriage of convenience a real shot? Or will stronger wills prevail?

This was steamy and dark and conniving and I loved every minute of it!!

A very enjoyable read. Loved the story and the characters. Arianna and Nico are spicy and sweet all rolled into one. I hope to see more of these characters in the future. This book is full of spicy scenes as well as plenty of action scenes that will keep you invested. At times the writing could have been a touch better. Some of this could have been fixed with better descriptions during pivotal moments or timeline moments when instead there would be major descriptions over more trivial items. Overall this didn’t take away from the wonderful story though and is definitely worth reading!

A.M. McCoy has been one of my favorite authors for a while now and this book just cements that’s even more!! I love 💕 the passion between these two and I love the mafia plot! Mostly I love how you see Ari’s growth in confidence and how strong she becomes! A.M. McCoy always leaves me feeling sated in the deep love her characters find with each other. It’s not just the main characters, it’s all the love between the side characters as well!! I look forward to EVERY book she releases!! Hoping for a Molly and Matteo book as well as a Carmine and Christian book!!

This book was so amazing and kept me wanting more & more. Arianna & Nico we’re fire on the pages! This book is an arranged marriage with a age gap. Nico is the Don & Ari is the bargaining chip between their fathers. They start off as a oil & water relationship and then…… Well just read the book to find out 😏. As always Ally writing kept me engaged and I didn’t want to put this book down to you know sleep or work. Fast paced and so many things happening that you wouldn’t expect. It for sure kept me on my toes! I hope there’s another book to this series….. Molly girl……

I haven't read a 5 Star book in so long. This book was amazing! It had me thinking one thing then SLAMMED a plot twist into me. I loved how Nico actually cared for Ari's safety before she was legally his wife. When he knew he fucked up he ran away and hid from her for a while was so funny to me because he's sullose to be this tough guy but scared of his wife.
I also need to know if Matteo and Molly end up together and how Matteo's recovery goes.

This was a great Mafia read! It was action packed with plot and high spice!

I did appreciate that Nico and Ari, even though their relationship was so rocky at the start, actually talked and worked through their issues.

I also loved the side characters and pacing of this story. Nothing was dragged out or tedious.

Overall a great read!

I have honestly been a little burnt out on mafia books lately but I absolutely loved this one. I loved the emotional beginning, character development, and the tension between Nico and Ari.

Like McCoy’s other books, this one is fast paced, deliciously spicy, and 100% binge-worthy.

Absolutely loved it. I would've loved to know more about them as a family. Is the baby for sure a boy? I have so many questions. A spin off with Molly and Matteo would be amazing too. Or maybe something with one of the siblings? I'm just not ready to let go of these characters

Always love age gap mafia romance

Tropes are age gap, mafia, arranged marriage, possessive alpha vibes
It was an enjoyable read that hit a few of my all time favourite tropes. There were a few twists in the storyline that I didn't see coming, which was a nice surprise.

I love when I can find a good mafia book to satisfy a craving and this book hit the spot. Nico is the ultimate book boyfriend/husband to Ari after a rocky start. I love how protective he is of her, especially after how her parents treat her. Molly was also one of my favorite side characters in a long time - unwavering with Ari but kind and caring. I’m so excited to see what comes next from this world!!

Really good enemy’s to lovers. Marriage of convenience pregnancy trope. This book is HOT. The way that he just covets her from day one is crazy. They stayed who they are though the whole book never changing which I love. And Ari is a strong FMC and holds her own.

Great Mafia romance.

Tiktok brought me to this book, and I'm so glad it did. The story was fast paced and perfect. The MMC cared for the FMC from the very beginning, even though he claimed to hate her. Their love story was excellent. I just wish we got an updated on the siblings, especially the youngest sister. Curious what happened there. But all in all I recommend!
