Soleil has a secret. A secret she must reveal to uncover her past.
Born a living doll, Soleil falls under the care of Marjorie Gifford, a rich French girl who teaches her everything she needs to know about being human. But when misfortune falls upon the Gifford family and Marjorie dies, Soleil is locked away and trapped in darkness.
When Soleil awakes lost in the midst of a deadly plague in England, and she crosses paths with a mysterious woman in a white cloak, she breathes for the first time, eventually moves for the first time and, finally, becomes human. She builds a new life as a human, but when supernatural things start to happen, Soleil is initiated into magic by a black-cloaked woman, and snatched away from the world she used to know.
Soleil takes on a dangerous journey to discover the truth behind both cloaks and the reason she became human. Along the way, Soleil realizes that the world isn’t as black and white as she’d thought, all the more reason to search for her past.
Wow, really enjoyed reading this, congrats suna.. I was reading a book from my favorite series WoT, when i was recommended Amaranth, it looked interesting, so i decided to read it. It was great, got my attention right away, i wanted to know what would happen to Soleil and where she would go next, it went by so fast, loved it. Will this be the end of Soleil's adventures or will there be more books? :P
I've been pondering on what to write of this review for a while now. Nevertheless, time is nothing but a frame to our lives.
Once more, I've found my heart racing as certain scenes develop, this is a knack only good books seem to have on me. I found myself staying up late at night just to plunge myself onto Soleil's world with avid aplomb, to seek an answer for her predicaments, to search for what she searched and finally see if she has found some answers.
And now, I all but wonder, is there a sequel to such illustrious tale of mystery and just heart wrenching fun? I certainly hope so.
