Agents, Rovers and Cricket Loving Owners

Rate this book
In November 2010 Venky’s completed the purchase of Blackburn Rovers Football Club. The Premier League wasn’t an obvious step for an Indian family who had made their fortune in the international poultry market and within 18 months the club was back in the second tier of English football. Questions regarding the role of the manager and his agent persisted and the fans who initiated protests during the 2011/12 season had now joined forces with MPs to voice their concerns in Parliament. The owners had disposed of £40 million worth of playing talent, with further sales inevitable. The woman believed to be the main decision maker hadn’t been seen at a game for 15 months. How had it come to this?

Great chronicle on the debacle of the early Venkys ownership and destruction of a once proud football club. The author is obviously not a Pulitzer Prize writer, but he goes to great lengths to ensure the Blackburn fans are no longer looked at in a vilified light, defending the fans' actions with a rough history of the conniving, damaging and deceitful reign of Venkys and their cohorts, Steve Kean, SEM Kentaro, owned by Jerome Anderson, one of the most crooked agents in the business. It is a very cathartic read for Rovers fans, as all your frustrations are laid bare and explained to the rest of the world. We always support the club, but we'll never back Venkys.
