Wall Street Journal & USA Today bestselling author Emma Slate writes romance with heart and heat.
Called “the dialogue queen” by her college playwriting professor, Emma writes love stories that range from romance-for-your-pants to action-flicks-for-chicks.
When she isn’t writing, she’s usually curled up under a heating blanket with a steamy romance novel and her two beagles—unless her outdoorsy husband can convince her to go on a hike.
So I didn't read any of the others in this series, but I'll tell you I love Viper so much!!! He was growly and grumpy, but he was so smitten in his own way with Sutton!! When he first met her, it'd ro clean up a mess at her trailer. She killed someone who tried to rape her and asked her friend for help having the biker club get involved. She was all sass and a breath of fresh air for Viper since many didn't talk to him because of his mood.
She didn't care she teased and taunted him and informed him she wanted to sleep with him. As all grumps, he pushes her away because of his age. That didn't stop her , and I was a little sad. Viper was push/pull with her until he finally gave in. But it was sex only nothing else that gave both mixed signals. Then we got to the gritty of the club life.. so much sadness, so much drama with the bad guy.
I'll be honest a few times. Sutton annoyed me on how she acted. She felt brass. But idk how the other women in the series were. Maybe I might try to read the others in the series. Maybe, but then again, it was told from Sutton pov, which I was sad we didn't get Vipers' pov.
Angst, no ow/om drama, no cheating, drama, sexy times, no virgins

Sutton Wood's world takes a sharp turn when she's attacked in her home, even as she survives with the help of her frying pan. When she turns to her neighbor for help, her neighbor's friends at a local motorcycle club know how to clean up the mess that's left behind and take her to safety. Enter Viper, the man tasked with keeping an eye on her. Older, grumpy, and a hot, thick tree Sutton wouldn't mind climbing. Their relationship is only supposed to be temporary, but with the club staring down the Cartel and bullets flying, it may be too hard to say goodbye.
Fracking fantastic! Venom and Vengeance is definitely on my faves of 2023 list. Great storyline that is well written, moves quickly, and has a ton of action. Tons of witty dialogue that had me literally laughing out loud. Sutton was hysterical. She's only 22, but lived plenty of life preferring to ride things out with snark and humor. Viper just doesn't know how deal with her and the stoic, grumpy man can't help but crack a smile, almost breaking his face, lol. The chemistry between them was super hot and their relationship made sense as well progressed logically despite how quickly they got together. Just a fantastic read!
Venom & Vengeance is the 5th book in the Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club and can be read as a standalone, but best enjoyed when read in series order. It is told in first person, from Sutton's perspective, except for the epilogue which is from Viper's. Can't wait until the next book is out!
Another Meh.. i want a biker MC drama, action with a romance story, not a boring immature, only about sex lust relationship story. If I want that, I'll choose that genre. This book had 0 drama. Everything that happened in the drama side (biker side) was all off page. They took down the cartel somehow within a few hours with only 1 senseless loss. It's like the author doesn't know how to write drama. Just watch sons of anarchy for ideas no one would care. These books have gotten progressively worse with the shift from book 1 to smut over plot. This one had potential. It started strong, with Sutton unknowingly killing a cartel member who tried to kidnap her. She was held at the compound for absolutely NO reason. There was never a moment of them looking for her, never a wiff it was so dumb. Within a day she is sleeping with Viper, within 2 weeks they are talking about babies because "Mr old enough to know better" viper forgot to wrap because her witnessing her friend being shot in the head 2 hours prior immediately meant she needed sex. 😒🙄 It appears this author doesn't know about the morning after pill because if you are so concerned about it, why wouldn't you take it for peace of mind, but it is never mentioned. It was just page after page of boring smut, not even well written, age gap concerns, and babies. There was no chemistry with Sutten and Viper, just sex. Sutton had no emotional range.. she never reacted to anything, and there was no explanation as to why. She was so immature and selfish that it just gave you constant eye rolls. She got mad that her friend left town even though she never contacted her for weeks. She whines about not having a real career or purpose but does nothing to help that. She got handed everything in this book (job, home, car). At the begining she is bonding with Savage but then when he is shot she can't even be bothered waiting at the hospital till he is out of surgery because Viper has broken ribs (he will live). The first book in this series was great and gave me hope of a great new MC series, but it's just not there. It's needs dual POV, so there is substance. I'm so tired of reading "club business" when someone asks for details, that's not how it works. Seriously, if I have to read about "thrusting" for everything again (please try a thesaurus).. to me, if a guy is kissing me and "thrusting his tongue in my mouth," he is a terrible kisser 🤢🤮 I'm glad there isn't another book for a while as I definitely need a break. Another disappointment 😞 you can skip this one.
I received an ARC copy of this book and was so happy to read it. This book jumps right into the drama when a traumatic event happens to Sutton and she gets pulled into the war between the MC and the cartel. This leads to her meeting and being protected by the MC and the tough, silent Viper. I loved Viper! He took his job seriously and tried to do the "right thing" by Sutton but ultimately he couldn't resist her sass and so began their arrangement. There is lots of drama, heartbreak and the MC world really moves forward in this book. I really felt the emotional effect of the words during the most pivotal and life changing scenes. Those were very well written.
I liked how this story tied into the rest of the series. Some of my favorite parts were the interactions with the other characters from previous books. There are a lot of people to keep track of so while you may be able to read this as a standalone, I highly recommend you read the rest of the books first. Overall, this story moves the series along nicely but I think Sutton should have dealt with some of the feelings she kept pushing down. She dealt with a lot of conflict, and while Viper was always there for her, it seems she should have had a breakdown at some point. I can't wait to see where the series goes from here!
I liked this one, it's a tad more graphic than previous books but I'm more than fine with that!
Viper is new to the club, he's been a brother for a long time but he's new to this chapter, he's still kinda a lone soul. Doesn't speak much, to anyone! Dangerous aura around him, grumpy etc And then we meet Sutton, completely new character who finds herself in bother when she defends herself in her own home with a cast iron frying pan - go Sutton!
Anyway, she turns to her neighbour, who turns to her bed-buddy who in turn turns to his brothers.
Cue Sutton moving in to he clubhouse for protection and for her ass and sass blunt attitude breaking through Vipers massive walls!
A lot of danger around the club but also a lot of love, friendship and family.
Venom & Vengeance is the fifth book in the Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club series and honestly, this one had no right to make me cry like that.
We meet Viper and Sutton and let me tell you, the banter between them is freaking amazing. While there is not a lot of action going on, as this story is mainly told from Sutton's POV, the character development of every character is freaking amazing. The way the stories are told about the couples that we see in previous books, as well as the ones that didn't get them, is just over the top.
Overall, I adore this series, but it is dark and spicy, so make sure you read TWs before getting into this one.
The same as the rest of them. It really drags. And I finally figured out why. It's all her POV, all feminine, all gossip, all Old Ladies with their brood of children... All domestic, all HEA. And I wanted a MC book. Him, being the hardass man, dealing with club business, going on the runs. But we're not privy to this kind of info. And where are the club girls? A few first books mentioned them but they are never... in your face, like they should be. All OL are ok with the parties and their existence because they are...what...tame? This series severely lacks the wild side. After book 3 it all seems samey samey. No cheating, even in the background, no OW drama, no couple problems. Everyone just leads their perfect MC life.
DNF @ 11 %. A 36 yo man has absolutely no business being with a 22 yo woman. It’s not romantic, it’s not sexy, it’s gross and wrong and it’s a F NO! Stop peddling this pedophilia, “Daddy” trope.
ARC review: Viper and Sutton are fire together. Her sexy, sassy personality mixed with is dark protectiveness is an amazing mix. I loved the intense relationship they have together and I love seeing the other club members and hearing about their lives again. This book is an emotional read but definitely worth it. Viper is my new favourite in this entire series. Big call I know, but just wait until you meet him….
This is becoming a fast favorite series! And each book is so good!! I loved Viper & Sutton! The snark and the banter between these 2 was perfection!! I loved seeing the past characters and catching up with them too.
📖 : Venom and Vengeance 👩🏻💻 : Emma Slate Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Things move pretty fast for Sutton and Viper, but in the situation, I think it fits. After all, they meet when she is in dire need of help. So the fact that things get somewhat intense pretty soon into the book works.
The attraction between them is instantaneous and even though Viper says he is too old her her at 36 compared to her 22 he can’t completely hide how much he wants her from Sutton herself.
She treats him differently to anyone else, she doesn’t let him get away with grunting and forces him to have full conversation which his patched members are surprised to see!
The cartel makes a reappearance in this novel, and things go down. Unfortunately there are some deaths along with the grief that follows.
Sutton and Viper might be one of my favourite couple in this series, and I look forward as always to catching up with all of the couples in future books!
✔️ MC romance ✔️ Ex Con ✔️ Age Gap ✔️ Sassy MFC ✔️ Spice
Blurb 🏍️ He’s grumpy. Older. An ex-con. Did I mention I’m totally hot for him? After a near fatal run-in with the cartel, I turn to Viper for protection. He’s muscle for his motorcycle club, and the next thing I know I’m living in a biker clubhouse with my own personal bodyguard. Viper makes me feel safe…and desired.
No wonder I can’t keep my clothes on around him. The club welcomes me as one of their own, but the timing couldn’t be worse. Now I’m caught in a war between the club and a cartel. This wasn’t supposed to be my life. But the longer I stay with Viper, the more I realize neither of us want to say goodbye. Viper wants to keep me. Forever.
Venom & Vengeance is book 5 in the Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club series by Emma Slate and boy is it a not one! The story focuses on Viper and Sutton. Sutton is one strong woman, thrown into the path of the cartel through no fault of her own, she is helped out by the Tarnished Angels MC, but more importantly, the grumpy and older MC member, Viper a man who sees someone as youthful as Sutton and thinks that she is too young for him…of which he is greatly mistaken. Sutton doesn’t take no prisoners and she gives as good as she gets and continuously keeps Viper on the backfoot with her shenanigans.
This was a great, steamy and sometimes funny read as we watch Viper and Sutton’s relationship unfold. At no point is it an easy relationship as there is a lot going on with both characters as well as things going on around them, which is out of their control, but which seeps into their lives! Sutton and Viper are pretty perfect for each other and compliment each other in the best way! Even though Viper is older, he is protective of Sutton but also wants her to grow and gives her some great advice! The sexy times between the characters was great and made the pages melt.
As with other books in this series, other characters pop in throughout the story which gives a great sense of brotherhood and camaraderie. There is also a serious side to the story with the cartel popping its head into the story again, and not everyone will survive what is going to happen!
Another great page turner, this series just keeps getting better and better. I wonder who’s going to get their story told next. I know I can’t wait.
Talk about starting with a bang, this book goes in full steam ahead and just doesn’t let up throughout.
I love this series, the characters and most especially that the author isn’t afraid of mixing it up and throwing in shock and awe.
Venom and Sutton are a match made in heaven. She is mouthy, self aware, independent and sassy. Life gave her lemons and she made lemon drop shots and threw her middle finger in the air. Her strength and depth was fab to read and I loved how despite her young age she didn’t cave when surrounded by alpha protectors and become poor little me. She stood up to be counted and made sure Venom knew who she was and what she wanted out of life. Her fearlessness and depth of love for her new found family was delightfully emotional.
These bikers, big teddy bears when it comes to their MC family, to anyone else they are deadly and dangerous. Venom is no different, perhaps worse as when we meet him he is the silent broody loner of the group with a history that comes out slowly explaining it all. The change in him that Sutton brings is slow and like a beautiful flower blooming, such an amazing couple.
Family times, dangerous times, emotional times, steam for days times, this book brings it all
If I wanted more of anything (who am I kidding I wanted 500 more pages of what I already got!!) it would be more about what happened when the brothers rode off to do their “thing” stuff happens off page which is beautifully written, but the blood thirsty part of me wants details
I love the Tarnished Angels MC (formerly Blue Angels MC).
Not a huge fan of the age gap romance where it’s always pointed out that there’s a gap. But I also didn’t like friends to lovers romances either and Willa & Duke’s story was amazing. So maybe I don’t really know what I like anymore. And that’s all because of Emma Slate.
Sutton and Viper’s story was so good. There were parts that were incredibly sad and I had a really hard time turning the page when I knew what was coming. I legit gasped “no!” out loud and couldn’t/wouldn’t turn the page for at least three minutes. That wasn’t cool at all Emma! It can be made up to me by giving me their story. And a Three Kings series.
I loved Sutton’s sass. I always try to connect someway with the h of the story, but I often found myself thinking “that’s something I would say!” after one of her quips. In crazy situations I often make jokes because if I’m laughing, I’m not crying. But I digress.
I also loved Viper’s hard candy shell and cinnamon roll interior. Swoon. The fact that he was up front with her, told her the truth - or as much of it as he could - and didn’t sugar coat things…well it’s just not something you see normally in romances these days and it was refreshing.
I think that’s why I’ve loved almost everything Emma Slate has written (except the spider one, not the weirdest book I’ve read but definitely cracks the top 20 for sure). Her characters are strong, funny, steadfast, and they don’t play games with the ones they love.
Viper a man of few words has finally met his match! Sutton has come into his life like a Freight train. She is sassy, opinionated women with zero filter and just turns his life upside down. He comes into her life at a crossroads and she is flung headfirst into the world of the biker club. She is everything that’s he wasn’t expecting in his life. She pushes ALL of his buttons just to see what kind of reaction that she will get from him. They have such an intense chemistry that’s it is so fun to watch them interact. The rest of the club is mystified watching them interact, they can see the relationship between them brewing. I love watching them together. The push and pull of their relationship is so fun to watch. They both have issues from their past that they’re trying to overcome and with help from each other they can do that. But as with the cartel war they’re dealing with is causing issues so nothing is easy and they have the battles to deal, arguments had but they come out stronger in the end. The have the best banter between them, from the beginning. Sutton has amazing one liners as well. She is folded into the old ladies so well and into the rest of the club like she should’ve always been there. Sutton and Viper were meant for each other, I’m so happy I got there happily ever after.
Honestly I think this was my fav book of the series so far. I love a grumpy sunshine, mountain built biker who is actually sweet as pie for his women. The MMC Viper is the kind of guy who’s so big physically that he looks scary. Add to that he barely speaks, to anyone, including his biker brothers they are all shocked when the much younger FMC Sutton comes barrelling in to the club like a rocket. Not only does she not let the fact that she’s there because she might the target of the cartel get her down but she doesn’t let Viper get away with only grunting to her as communication or let their age difference stop her when she wants something. I loved how bold and unashamed Sutton was to what she wanted, that she rightly questioned how fast things seemed to go but at the same time was a lot like ‘you only live once’ and I loved that she didn’t put up with any of Vipers manly ‘Tarzan attitude’ but challenged him at every turn. I think Viper is probably my favourite Tarnished Angel so far and I literally cannot wait until the next book. 5⭐️4🌶️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Venom & Vengeance by Emma Slate brings a grumpy, older, ex-con biker and a fiery, determined woman together in a dangerous game of survival and passion. Sutton turns to Viper for protection after a near-fatal encounter with the cartel, and what starts as a reluctant arrangement quickly turns into something much more complicated. Viper’s rough, hardened exterior hides a man who’s fiercely loyal and capable of tenderness, but Sutton’s presence ignites a possessiveness he can’t contain. Sutton is feisty and independent, yet her vulnerability makes her connection with Viper feel real and raw. Their relationship is filled with scorching tension, forbidden desire, and the kind of loyalty that makes you swoon. As the stakes with the cartel escalate, Viper’s need to protect Sutton becomes all-consuming, and their connection deepens in ways neither expected. Slate’s writing keeps the adrenaline pumping, blending high-stakes action with emotional intensity. The chemistry between Sutton and Viper is undeniable, and their relationship unfolds with a perfect balance of danger and devotion. Venom & Vengeance is a thrilling, passionate ride that leaves you breathless and craving more.
The book starts off with a bang and we get Right into the thick of it. I was lucky to get an ARC and I was so happy to have even the minor extra time to get to decor this story. Don’t get me wrong it is an unsolicited review and I also purchased the book as well. I loved viper and Sutton and how they both drew you into the story. Our sassy little spitfire Sutton was still able to get you to connect with the character with her realness and vulnerability. And that’s what drew in viper. Viper is the epitome of tough bad boy, and he earned that through a very hard past. The story is action and intrigued packed with all the issues surrounding the cartel and the problems the Tarnished Angels have to overcome. Sutton is sucked into the issues with the cartel and is placed under vipers protection. Their almost forced proximity made them draw closer while also fight their attraction. This story brings everything to head with the cartel and it’s awesome to see some of our fave characters and couples, as they fight for their club and family. This series is amazing and Venom and Vengeance is one more book to fall in love with.

I am working my my way through buying this series in paperback because I love this series so much!
Sutton is in danger after a member of the cartel breaks into her trailer one night with bad intentions. Luckily she managed to escape with the help of a cast iron skillet and a friend calls in The Tarnished Angels to help. Viper is tasked with protecting Sutton and because of the age gap although they have an undeniable attraction he is adamant nothing can ever happen between them. After time spent together and facing danger his walls start to come down, but do they have the chance of a future?
I always shed a tear when reading these books for the first time. This author does not shy away from putting her book characters through heartache, pain and loss. I know the story is fiction but it gives a bite of reality as real life is never always sunshine and roses. I was rooting for Sutton and Viper and I am so happy they managed to come through in the end,and I have already bought the next 2 books in the series, I really am hooked!
it was good it definitely kept me really interested there’s just a few reasons i rated it a 3. first i really wish that we got to see a little more into their pasts i feel like because they talk so much about what they went through it would have been nice to see like a sneak peak into their past, we also never really know what happens to her dad like one of the plot lines was that he kept calling her from jail and she hasn’t answered and then they just don’t talk about it even though she says that she still cares for him i don’t really like how we don’t get to see none of the action that happens we just see the result when the guys come back i think that’s lame especially because the men don’t tell tbe woman anything which is kinda crazy to me i also felt like with the main couple it kinda just feels like it’s attraction more than anything else i just don’t think they’ll last but besides that i actually liked the main character especially the girl and the book is very easy and entertaining to read

Wow what can I say, just when you thought this series couldn't get any better, Emma pulls this out of her hat. Sutton and Viper should be a disaster from the start. She has enough fire and sass to bring the world to it's knees. Viper is big, broody and closed off to everything and everyone. Then they are thrown together when Sutton is attacked and the MC step in to help her. While under the protection of the club the pair find themselves getting under each others skin. It's a slow burn but when the sparks finally ignite this couple are so hot you will get burned. Sutton seems to be the one person who can find the real Viper behind the wall he hides behind. There is so much heat in this story and it runs along the tension and danger the club faces as a war brews with a Cartel who are looking for trouble. There are a couple of, noooooo Emma what did you do, moments but this had me from word one and I couldn't put it down till I was done. There are more books in this series that are so worth checking out while you wait for this to land so do yourself a favour and check them out while you wait.
I honestly loved every single moment in this book. It’s also the first book in a long time to make me feel a bit emotional with tears in my eyes at times.
Emma Slate hasn’t failed to blow me away with another book. The SINS was an exceptional world to read about. But I am definitely more in tune with the world of the Tarnished Angels. Crash & Carnage will always take some beating for being one of my favs but Venom & Vengeance is a very close second!!!
Sutton and Vipers whirlwind romance starts when sassy Sutton finds herself in a bit of a situation needing help. She also needs protection and the club decide grumpy older Viper is the man for the job. Their chemistry is off the charts from the moment they meet right up until the end of the book.
I don’t want to give too much away but this is definitely a must read in the Tarnished Angels series of books.
