Three sexy men, one hot relationship. In Room at the Top, devoted sub couple Jay and Austin went looking for a no-strings attached Dom and ended up falling for Liam, who, much to his surprise, turned out to be the Dom of their dreams. But their happy ending was only the beginning of their story.

Now Jay is begging Liam to turn up the heat with fire play and Austin wants them all under one roof, no matter what people might think. Caught up in the difficulties and pleasures of their new relationship, it's easy to miss the way they're moving dangerously close to the edge of falling apart, not deeper in love.

Just as naughty, dirty and kinky as I remembered! Awesome second read. I'd eat up a third book in this series.

Original review:

Not quite as fun as the first book, but still a damn good time. Please read my review of Room at the Top for my thoughts on this threesome.

Highly recommended!

Dirty, super kinky, and I really enjoyed it! I did feel like not everything got resolved by the end. Not in regards to their relationship, though. Liam, Jay, and Austin are solidly a thruple. The focus of Room at the Edge seemed to be on Jay's struggle with submission and Austin's desire to be a full-time sub. The trio's dynamic was pretty much there from the beginning. I would have loved to have seen some sort of consideration to going semi-public with their relationship. To family and friends, at least. All in good time, I suppose. Still, I enjoyed these guys and most of the kink!

As good as the first one this novel is going on my favorites shelf. I am still in love with Liam just as much and he is one of the best Dom's I've read in fiction. All three characters grow here and discover and learn. They communicate, when prompted and sometimes forced, but that's very true to life. None of us wants to reveal everything to everyone (momma always said keep a little mystery and you keep the spark!).

Austin and Jay realize much sooner than Liam that the relationship will fizzle if they don't move forward and develop as three instead of two. Austin and Jay's relationship continues to be strong - nigh on unbreakable. Liam still feels like an outsider and, realistically, I'm not sure who would not. I think this hits on a core issue with 3 - and is something I look to be addressed in my menage reads. I don't read too many menage and now you know why. It always seems someone is superfluous. That is not the case here though, at different times, a duo performs better. That they are starting to really realize this is critical to the health and growth of the relationship.

I liked the amount of communication here including the misses because it allowed them to become more.

The BDSM scenes were amazing - the balance was perfect, implements were wonderful, and each sub's unique personality gave this one a different flavor - meaning what Jay and Austin want is very different. To be honest I agree with Liam that Austin is tougher because letting him be more service oriented means Liam relying on someone else -- that's tough with him. Jay's need for more pain, more tests, just more - in a way - is easier to meet because it can be planned for and implemented - and Liam likes that.

I was hoping for the scene near the end and I gave a shrill scream when it showed up. It was great.

I hope we get to see more of these three in the future!

Had to start reading as soon as I got it on my kindle. Then I had problems with the beginning, as I had the feeling that poor Jay was a bit left out and Liam was too aloof for my tasting. Yes, I realized it was caused by his insecurities/jealousy regarding his place in the relationship between Jay and Austin; therefore when they both expressed their love for him he let himself be more part of the relationship and not only their dom and that was the point when I was really gripped by the story. Perhaps there was a bit much happening in the final chapter, but overall it was a very good read and for me, hopefully, their journey is not at an end :)

This sequel shows the three men from Room at the Top figuring out how to live together and move their relationship forward. This book felt a little heavier on the sex than the previous one, and also a little more intense with the BDSM. As someone who is not always comfortable with the SM part of that, I had problems at times with the level of pain that Jay wanted and needed. That's not a fault of the book, but a matter of my own comfort zones (and a mild pyrophobia.)

I did wish there was more in this book of the guys doing things together that were not sex and interacting with other people. There are threads touched upon of how they will deal with Liam's family, and Austin's mother in particular, that don't go very far forward. This book really was almost exclusively about figuring out their BDSM needs and relationships. It did work well in that regard, and I appreciated that mistakes were made, and they talked to each other and fixed things. The three men became very believable and distinct personalities here.

God, the sex in this book is off the freaking charts. There were a couple things I wish Liam had done, like rimming, but overall super hot. I loved seeing how hard these three were trying to make things work and how they really no longer were a couple with a Dom but a threesome. Left me wondering if it was really going to work seeing as they were hiding it from everyone but still a HFN that made me happy.

What a disappointing sequel. The menage relationship didn't progress. The BDSM scenes were hot though. Liza summed things up for me.

I enjoyed this sequel to Room at the Top almost as much as the first book.

Liam, Jay and Austin are working on moving their relationship forward, and integrating each other into their lives beyond the bedroom. Liam is still working on accepting both his sexuality and his place in the relationship with Jay and Austin. Jay is asking for more intense scenes that will push him further than Liam is certain he wants to go, while Austin is showing a desire for full time submission to Liam. As if figuring out the dynamics of their relationship isn't daunting enough, there is still family to consider.

Things don't go perfectly, and there are missteps by everyone. I wish the family issues were a little more fleshed out, but it was good to see the men really working at things. The BDSM scenes were even more intense this time around, although I would have liked a little more of the men outside of the bedroom. I wouldn't mind getting more of their story as there is still so much ground that could be covered.

Verra, verra nice. Good development in tying Liam, Jay, and Austin closer together in their relationship in this follow up to Room at the Top. The men are stretching themselves from just playing to being. The strides made by Liam and Jay are especially impressive.

We really get to see more of Jay and how Liam is able to wrangle him in and help him find his submission. It isn't easy. Austin and Jay have different needs, but Liam is amazing--patient, caring, and takes no bullshit. He gives them a comfort that can't find without him, and Austin and Jay give him a release, peace and sense of self that he never knew without them.

The play ramps up, but as much as I love the physical it is the mental and emotional care given that makes this shine.

Favorite quote: (Liam and Jay battling it out)

"Your little rebellions are starting to irritate me. So futile. So ungrateful. I think it’s time you learned who’s in charge here. I’ll give you a clue. It’s me.”

The Romance Review

Delicious triad Liam, Jay and Austin return after their happily ever after. What happens after a first book ends beautifully in a happily ever after? Real life is what happens. This second installment is painful to witness because it is all too plausible. The realities of a triad between two young gay men and an older previously heterosexual male contain many obstacles. These obstacles come in the packages of family and judgmental outsiders.

Ms. Davitt and Ms. Snow do an excellent job of showing how a complete triangle ménage runs into issues with the real world. Add a mix of BDSM and the misconceptions multiply. Now that Jay and Austin find their perfect Dom, they want a deeper connection. Since Jay and Austin have different needs from a Dom, it is not easy for Liam. Liam is also unsure of where he stands in the relationship. He doesn't want to interfere and break up the loving couple. He's still up to the challenge and what a hawt challenge he takes on!

This tale is heartbreaking for me. It's heartbreaking because the three lovers have to hide their love for each other. In addition, there are misunderstandings which are blown out of proportion which makes me hurt for these three. The ramifications of Liam being ousted as a gay male in a kinky ménage could destroy his career. This is all too easy to believe and it makes me furious. While I'm not in an alternative relationship, my interest in the BDSM lifestyle and fringe participation can also cost me my job. Societal obsession with people's private sex life is befuddling to me. What business is it since it doesn't impact a professional work space? Ms. Davitt and Ms. Snow demonstrate just how problematic it can be if these three are in a known BDSM ménage.

While trying to keep their relationship a secret, things are falling apart. Each one of the men wants something from the other two but his needs aren't met. When they hide information from one another, it leads to hurtful confrontations and responses I don't fully understand. For example, Jay needs the SM part of BDSM. He longs for fire play. Who doesn't?

When Jay brings it up to Liam and is left hanging without an answer, Jay takes the matter in his own hands. He and Austin experiment. The scene is actually quite mild and I'm not seeing how it could be so bad. Liam blows up, and both Jay and Austin are punished. This really confused me. It could be because I don't consider fireplay dangerous. Yes, conceptually I know it can be deadly, however my experiences with it have been so good, I find it hard to understand people's alarmist attitude. Everything contains risks; just driving down the street can be risky.

At the heart of this story, it's about change and pushing boundaries. As people grow together, change is a necessity. In a D/s and/or SM relationship, the need to push boundaries is natural. The response to these two situations is telling of a person.

Ms. Davitt and Ms. Snow showcase the ups and downs. It isn't pretty and it pulls on all our heartstrings. Relationships take work and sometimes it takes several steps back. This book is a 3.5 stars for me because I loved the reality of it yet Liam disappointed me. Of course everyone is human so Liam's actions and responses are spot on for him. Still, I'm miffed at him.

This m/m ménage romance is recommended for kinky readers who enjoy a bit more intense D/s and SM.

3.5 stars. The same things I loved from the first book exist here, though this one seemed a bit more drawn out. Liam still seems like the outsider, though I'm not sure that can ever really change. Austin and Jay are still the super sweet couple. They move in to Liam's newly renovated home to give themselves more time together and hopefully mesh their lives a little bit more.

The distinct differences in both Austin and Jay's needs become more defined in this story as Liam finds ways to become the Dom each of them needs. There is definitely a delicate balance involved with the three of them, but I think they've got it under pretty good control.

Things are also a bit heavier in this as Jay's limits are pushed and he keeps looking for more. All of it is written very well and nothing too harsh for the more squeamish readers.

Re read February 2015

Review:

Great book, I think I did like this one more than the first simply because there was more threesome scenes and a few more obstacles to overcome in their everyday lives. I wouldn't count this book as angsty, just the three men trying to merge there loves together.

This book did focus more on the SM side of BDSM, nothing to scary (if you're fairly versed with BDSM), mainly Jay describing how much he enjoys pain and a few intense whippings.

This book did end rather abruptly, that last chapter really threw everything in there.

I liked how the relationship as a threesome grew but also how the individual pairings of sub/dom developed. Even though there was alot of sweet love talking, some of the insecurities they faced felt realistic and I really liked that.

4.5 stars for this beautiful, dark and unexpected series. Thoroughly enjoyed the connection between Austin & Jay and the way Liam became part of their intimate space. While I thought both subs were a bit bratty at times, I understood it was typical of their personalities and nature. These boys needed Liam as much as he needed them ❤️

I'm not sure what happened with this book compared to the first in the series. I just loved the first book. This one was so dull and long and tedious to get through. There was no spark or real drama or anything.

Three stars is probably too high here. I though it was going to be 3.5 for a while, but the end just devolved into constant BDSM scenes and repeated, over-the-top epic love declarations. During BDSM scenes.

Plus Jay's character did not feel consistent to how he was written in the first book. I struggled so much to put my finger on how exactly he was inconsistent and finally realized he's not a clear enough character in the first book to really say. So that's kinda a problem...

And I really didn't like that Jay and Austin made a huge deal about not moving in with Liam because they wanted to make sure they didn't feel pressured to live with the power dynamics 24/7 -- **because it wasn't something they wanted** -- so Liam ... and then they all end up in a pretty much 24/7 power dynamic?? I mean, not really, it's one of those situations where Liam is turning it off and on at his whim, basically, but this just really annoys me when it doesn't feel intentional and is happening with no followup conversations *after* someone has expressed that they *don't* want it happening. It just feels sloppy -- from the author and from the characters.

Anyway, like I said with the first book, I'd just read the James Lucas trilogy (plus novellas) instead. (Ironically, the one complaint I had there was that I didn't get the big love declaration!! Well I got 20 here to make up for it :)

In this sequel to Room at the Top, Liam, Austin and Jay further develop their relationship as Liam finally admits to being bisexual and the threesome decide they need more than just one weekly session together. After a brief period of extended visits to test their ability to live together, Liam remodels his basement into an apartment and the guys move in with him, using the basement apartment as a cover for neighbors and family.

Although they all struggle at some point with envy during the few occasions when they pair off privately, Liam more frequently feels like an outsider with Austin and Jay having been an established couple. He hides his insecurities, but they are present, and the authors do a great job of evolving him from his original cool and aloof dom presence to a more well-rounded lover and dom as the story develops. Both boys' personalities also evolve and change, individually and as a couple, identifying and working on their needs, not just their wants, with Liam. Austin is the perfect submissive, seeming to shine when he gets a chance to serve and be present to meet any of Liam's requests. Jay, on the other hand, struggles with the authority and constantly questions why Liam wants things done in a certain way. Both boys fail Liam along the way, with one incident almost destroying their opportunity to live together. Fortunately, Liam's strength of character pulls them through and they all grow and learn from the experience.

There's a great deal of sex in this story but it's important to the storyline. The sex scenes mark the progress of changes in Liam's sexuality and experiences, as well as the development of the threesome as a whole. All of their needs are ultimately met and there is a HEA for those of us who love that. But the true strength of the story is in the pivotal role Liam plays. The authors have created a remarkable character in Liam who is 40 years old, strong, sexy, intelligent, caring, vulnerable and loving while maintaining the upper hand, totally in control of the relationship.

I loved this story, more so than the original, and I highly recommend it to those who like BDSM and/or ménage, explicit sex scenes and a strong emphasis on the relationships between characters.

I don't know why I put off reading this one for so long. It was a really good sequel to Room at the Top and did a great job of pushing the characters' lives and relationship forward. And while fireplay scare the ever living shit out of me, I liked how it was tackled in this book. It did a great job of twisting Jay around and not only making him come to grips with what he wants, but learning how to ask for it from Liam. And learning how to trust that Liam will do what he needs to take care of that want as well as the safety of his two subs. And the whole learning to live and grow as a...whatever the three-person equivalent of a couple is...was handled really well. There were a few bumps in the road (only about 2/3 of them of their own making) but in the end you are left feeling like they are on much solider ground than at the beginning. This is such an interesting set of guys, and circumstance I can't help but wish that this is not it for Liam, Jay, and Austin. They have so much more they can do together and boy do I want to watch it happen. As always with Davitt and Snow, the BDSM aspects were well written and very hot, and these are guys I am going to being come back to no matter what. Very well done.

★★★☆ rounded up to ★★★★

WOW...basically every fetish & kink left out of the first novel makes an appearance in this one! Davitt writes very well & the characters remained true to the characteristics introduced in the first novel (Room at the Top)...but for me, I didn't need this book...I actually preferred my imagined scenario for their HEA rather than the one provided by Davitt...I was uncomfortable with the depth of Jay's masochistic desires & that made me uncomfortable with the depth of Liam's sadism too...although this was implied in the first book, the potential was realised in this book & it crossed the line (for me) into too-hard-core-for-titillation into cringe-territory. I don't find the mental image of a sub looking like the victim of assault sexy & that was Liam & Jay's kink. If there is a third book (a few threads were left hanging), it won't be an automatic buy...I'll probably wait to see what others think first…I’m a little bit of a wimp that way lol.

It was such a pleasure to spend time again with one of my favorite threesomes. Having the time to get to know Jay and Austin a lot better was great, and seeing Liam somewhat vulnerable at times made me appreciate him even more.

Loved the addition of fire play to the story, even it was not a very long scene. Would love to see more of this in BDSM books. The ending was just what you would hope for, an HEA with great promise for their future together.

I really enjoyed this book. I pretty much read it straight through because the characters were so interesting in this one. The first in the series was great but it was so much about the plot and introducing the characters, nevertheless, a totally great book. This one had such complexly drawn characters and they emerge so perfectly, we see them from their perspective and through each other's eyes and it is just wonderfully done.

Love, loved the ending, it was perfect.

I didn't like this one as much as the first. I really can't say why, but I just didn't connect with it. Jay was a brat, Austin was a needy mess, and Liam was a little stand-offish. The sex and BDSM was hot as hell, some of the scenes were intense, but between the scenes, the three of them were a mess. There was almost no emotion.

Oooh... quite a while since I've read Room at the Top but this is a continuation of Jay and Austin, subs to Liam.
Lots of BDSM developments; Liam wants them all to live together; Jay is a pain slut, Liam is a sadist, so some very 'subtle' persuading!
Nice resolution.

Room at the Edge is the sequel to Room at the Top. I found myself liking this book as much as the first one. This book is different though as in the first book Jay, Liam and Austin come together. On this one they work through some of the challenges of their unusual relationship.

On this book the relationship between Liam and both Austin and Jay becomes more solid. Part of the initial conflict is the need from everyone to have a deeper relationship and they accomplish some of that by moving in together. That helps a lot with Liam's feelings of isolation and Austin's and Jay's need of closeness to their dom.

There are a lot of sex scenes on this book, most of them have a BDSM scene setting. My favorite scene is of Liam and Austin together having non BDSM sex and I wish they had shown more of that in the book not mention it as happening off-page.

After reading this book I feel like all three characters have a relationship that fulfills heir needs. However there is still of uncertainty created mostly by external factors: Liam's and Austin's family and society's acceptance of their relationship. Such is life though and I will be happy to see a continuation to this story but if it doesn't happen I also feel I have enough closure.

This book was pretty good. The story picked up where that last book left off. Jay and Austin two subs who live together and their Dom Liam. Austin and Jay each want different things from Liam Jay wants to turn up the intensity of their scenes he wants fire play and Austin wants to be a full time sub with them all living together. Liam for his part knows that something bothering his subs. Jay who is bratty and his into pain and Austin who is sweet with his OCD and his need to please. Austin and Jay's relationship continues to be strong. Liam still feels like an outsider. They are all wondering if a relationship with the three of them can work. This book was well written like the first one. The book moves slow to me. The sex scenes were hot and I love reading about hot guy menage and BDSM. If you like reading BDSM menage I would recommend that you read this series.

I liked it! 8) It is heavy in the smex department as expected. I liked the way the story worked out the different needs and personalities of the MCs. Liam is the least well drawn, but I took that as an intrinsic part of his personality. Intimacy means different things to different people. This story really took that into account as integral to the dynamics of this relationship. I would recommend this to people who liked the first book. This book is more serious though. They are doing the real the work of relationship building here.

I liked these three oddly like-able characters in the Room at the Top. Davitt and company were faithful to them in Room at the Edge and that made it a comfortable continuation of their story.
Sometimes I think I need to not over-think or over-analyses the tales I read and allow them to simply unfold. It really was a sweet love story.
