It took me awhile to get through all the books. I had to interrupt the journey a few times and read something light. The books are intense. All of them have unique stories. The characters in all of them are strong and you become attached to them. Would highly recommend all of them if you like your books to hold your interest and proceed at a good pace. The second book took me awhile to decide that I would want to finish reading it. It takes place with a group of early pioneers and is in dialect. The old English took a few pages to get used to. After a bit you fall into the rhythm of it. The story was intriguing. Similar to other such books of the period but the characters reach out to your. Three men become fast friends. I was very surprised at the end of the story to find out who the murderer was. Didn't once consider him/her. You probably would not want to start reading these books at bedtime. I lost a lot of sleep. I would read other books in each of the series.

THIS HAS A COLLECTION OF FULL LENGTH AND PREQUEL BOOKS. THESE STORIES ARE NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH OR FAINT OF HEART. . . I LOVE THEM. I'VE READ SO MANY OF HER BOOKS AND HER PARTNER BO HOPKINS (THE DYNAMIC DUO) THEY ARE GREAT SINGLE OR TOGETHER. SOME I HAVE LIKED MORE THAN OTHERS BUT THEY NEVER FAIL TO SURPRISE ME, SOME HAVE ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT, TALKING TO MYSELF AND OUT LOUD TO MY KINDLE FIRE. THE ENDINGS ARE SOMETIMES OUT-OF-LEFT-FIELD OR SO TWISTED AND SURPRISING IT LEAVES ME WITH A WTF MOMENT, LIKE DAMN I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMIN'. ;D TRULY GREAT!

Although this book included several snippets of books written by Carolyn McCray, they were all of a decent length to give you a great insight of her writing style and the different character developments. I shall certainly keep a look out for a few of the series books to delve further into the lead characters lives and jobs. The stories are primarily involved with crime and the personnel who solve the crimes

This was an excellent collection of books. You have the following books, All Hallow's Eve, Anatomy, Mary Mary Quite, Devious and Gauntlet. These all are excellent books. I'm very excited about reading the Humpty Dumpty book that follows the Mary Mary book. Each and every book that Ms. McCray has written has yet to disappoint.

This "collection" was split into one book at the beginning followed by several short stories. The full story was great to read. Some of the shorter stories would have been much better if they'd been full length books, though the 'who done it' was always someone you didn't think!

Good mysteries

I wouldn't recommend this collection for children or the soft. That saying, they are fast moving mystery thrillers with plenty of turns and some surprises. There is quite a bit of Gore as well.
