Stuck at work on Christmas Eve, Mark Stevens plans to make the best of it. He may even wrangle a date with a co-worker he's loved since fifth grade. But his plan quickly goes awry when the night turns creepy with strange noises and a broken vase. And when a corpse vanishes, the question becomes whether he'll make it through the night without losing his sanity...or his life. Growing up on the south-side of Chicago provided her with an abundance of story ideas. Earning her Master and Bachelor of Science in journalism and Communication with minor in Public Relations-provided ample opportunity to get a ton of writing experience. After college she wrote training programs for a Fortune 500 Company and taught many years as an adjunct professor. Her 15 minutes of "fame" came when she was Professional cheerleader for the NBA Chicago Bulls. She's been married to her aerospace husband Tom for over 25 years and they have four children- two sons and two daughters (and two cats who think they are her kids.) While juggling her packed schedule, she often daydreams about escaping to the beach with a glass (or two or three) of Riesling, a great book, fantastic friends, and loads of laughter.

Mark has to work at the mortuary on Christmas Eve. It's quiet and creepy and things are going bump in the night. As he flirts with his co-worker Kim, he has to pretend to be brave when the dead bodies seem to be moving around all by themselves. But how can that be? Mark is compelled to investigate
Not your typical Christmas story ,it could have taken place at any time in a year, as there is no Christmas theme.
Fun reading this story that lets your imagination run wild. There is mystery, scares and topped off with romance. I would be interested in reading the book that follows this one.
Christmas Corpse Caperis a prequel to Liquid Lies. We meet the sweet and bumbling Mark Stevens, a mortician in training. He has a crush on his coworker Kim and is forced to kow-tow to his childhood bully, Joe, who just happens to be the nephew of the mortuary's owner.
Christmas Eve is a a night filled with all sorts of creepy and ultimately funny mishaps.
I have not read Liquid Liesyet, but after this prequel, I definitely want to!
Mark Stevens is stuck working at the morgue on Christmas eve. It is a quiet night until a body goes missing. Fast paced light murder/mystery (short) story. I liked Mike ad his coworkers. The story was great, and I loved the writing style. I will be reading more work by Lois Lavrisa. Since this is the prequel to Liquid Lies I think that will be the next one of her books to read.
What do you do on your first night alone on your job as a mortician? Oh, and don't forget you have one delivery and the boss's nephew is a dick. Always has been since we were kids. Ah, Kim, the Secretary, I have loved her since the first time I saw her in grade school. I've got go be cool, no matter what happens! CRASH! xoyxx What was that??? This is a really a good short read, a short preview to Liquid Lies. Hold onto your seat pants and don't forget to breath. Well laid out, great cast of characters and a little humor to go along with holding your breath. Good read.
This is a prequel story to "Liquid Lies". It runs only about 50 pages on my Kindle and I read it in about an hour. It was cute and funny. Basically, the newest employee of 3 at the Kincaid Funeral Home is scheduled to work by himself on Christmas Eve. He has a crush on one of his co-workers and tries to encourage her to stay with him but not because he's afraid, he just wants her around. Maybe he should have been afraid!
Very enjoyable characters. I wouldn't have minded it being a full length novel. This is a prequel to Liquid Lies. I'll have to check it out, especially if it has the same characters.
