Their families are sworn enemies…

When Kiernan and Melina spent one passionate night together a year ago, they never thought that it would change their lives forever. While the attraction was undeniable, wolf shifter Melina Rodriguez knows it takes more than passion to combat a century of family animosity—even if she can’t manage to get dark, handsome Kiernan out of her head.

But he won’t let her go.

After a year of relentlessly pursuing the one woman he shouldn’t want, vampire Kiernan has finally convinced sweet, passionate Melina to give him one more chance. When their hot Miami night of flirtation is violently interrupted, he has to convince her to put her life in his hands. With an unknown enemy targeting her and their own families against their union, he knows he’ll have to show her that he’ll do anything to keep her safe. And he doesn’t care who gets in his way.

Narrator Review: 2nd Read
This is my second time listening to Jeffrey Kafer. I enjoyed his voice just as much as the first time. I love how he does the female voice. He did not do the dreaded high pitch which I’m very thankful for. I recommend the audio version of aenemy Mine. Borrowed on the Audible Romance Package

Story Review: 1st Read
For being only 90 pages, this story really packed a punch! A modern day Romeo and Juliet theme, you get a vampire and his mortal enemy, a wolf shifter who can't stay away from each other. Kiernan's obsessive pursuit of Melina was hot! His determination to make her permanently his despite facing her over-protective brothers and Alpha father will win you over. His protection of her from another packs attempted kidnapping showed he was the right mate for her despite being different species. Great story, maturely written and made me want more. I can't wait to read other stories from this author.

Enemy Mine is a standalone novella with a great Romeo and Juliet take featuring two hundred-year-old vampire Kiernan Doyle, and wolf shifter Melina Rodriguez.

They had a hot night of passion a year ago neither of them had been able to forget. The problem: His coven and her pack are sworn enemies. But Kiernan won’t let a family feud stop him from trying to convince Melina to go on another date with him. When she finally agrees she gets attacked by an unknown enemy and Kiernan does everything in his power to protect her and hunt down her attacker. He wouldn’t even let her overprotective family get between them.

I loved the forbidden love theme and how protective Kiernan was of Melina. This was a quick read, but packed with sweet romance, passion and excitement. Highly recommended!

What a delicious novella for one of my all time favorite PNR writers!
I'm so addict to this series, and Katie Reus deserves all the credit because there isn't one single book that has let me down in this Darkness universe - yes, I know this is actually a standalone, but the Enemy Mine world is exactly the same as the rest of the Darkness stories.
Enemy Mine was a true Romeo and Juliet story, but in the present time and in a paranormal setting.
What happens when a vampire and a wolf shift, natural born enemies fall in love?! Well, that is what you find out when you read this delicious short and spicy tale!
And sexy, have I said that already?! ;)

Well, this one was definitely fun to read. It's a really short story but still very enjoyable. You get romance, action, attempted kidnapping and even some sexy alpha time. Of course, since the author is Katie Reus the story is bound to be good. And it really is!

description

Who would't love a forbidden love story, right? It all started over a century ago, when Kiernan and Melina's family went at each others throats (quite literally) because of what Kiernan's brother did. Don't worry, I'm absolutely letting you wonder what that was. You wanna know, read the book!

description

Anyway, that feud does in no way stop Kiernan and Melina from falling in lust with each other that then lead to some good all night workout, if you get what I'm saying. But that all happened a year ago and now Kiernan simply can't get enough of his feisty werewolf. He basically becomes her personal stalker. But not in a creepy way, I would say that Melina finds it more annoying than anything else.

It didn't seem to mattter to him that they were natural born enemies; he was damn persistent. The man was a menace to her sanity.

In the end he does wear her down and she accepts to go on a date with him. But as usual, things don't go as planned. Some misunderstanding, some mistrust, then there is an attempted kidnapping and we can't forget her overprotective family. Seriously, what don't we do in the name of family love, right? Let's just say I'm really happy I don't have brothers like hers. They would drive me crazy, that's for sure!

description

As I already said, reading about those two was really funny. They were almost like an old married couple with the way they bickered. Both had to make some tough decisions that would effect not only them, but also their families. In the end I even came to like their crazy family.
Enemy Mine is a great story that can be read between a small break, since it's so short. I definitely recommend!

I admit it, Katie Reus Rocks!! I am such a huge fan of hers. I have enjoyed watching her rise as an author. She writes wonderful shifter romances, Vampire romances, romantic suspense.. yep she does it all and she does it pretty darn well. Enemy Mine is a re released and slightly altered version of a previous story. And that's ok with me. It was still a fun Novella and worth the read.

I am the first to tell ya, I am not a huge fan of Vampire romances. At least not the traditional ones, something to do with being undead and all that. But and here's a huge but.. there are times when the romance out weighs the vampire so to speak. When it's not quite a traditional vampire story and those, well I am a sucker for those.

Kiernan and Melina spent one unforgettable night together more than a year ago. Born as enemies, both natural, he's a vampire, she's a shifter AND feud made.. it's hard to imagine that these two could ever have anything more than one single night. And even that shouldn't have happened. But it did and they both dream of more.

Kiernan has decided it's time to claim his mate, feud and family be damned. Only Melina is neck deep in some sort of trouble and now he's the only one who can help her. How can he convince her to trust him both with her life and more importantly with her heart?

Melina wants Kiernan, she always has but she doesn't trust that something so fragile can withstand the outside forces that will try to destroy them. Is it worth risking her heart over something that will probably fall apart anyway?

Great chemistry, strong sensual pull and an in depth back story. An strong showing in so few words.

REVIEW

*May contain spoilers *

Kiernan and Melina had only been together once over a year ago but something happened during that one time that had Kiernan longing to be with Melina again. Melina's pack however would never allow that.
There is a long-standing feud between Melina's pack and Kiernans coven and because Melina is still very young, she has no idea. When someone tries to kidnap Melina everything that was thought to be turns to hell in a hand basket. Kiernan will do all in his power to save the woman he has come to love.

This is a short but sexy book. If you enjoy vamps, weres, action and romance then grab yourself a copy of this book. This is a re-release and the one I read.

"Enemy Mine" is a fantasy/supernatural, stand-alone novella.

The story is about Kiernan Doyle, a vampire, and Melina Rodriguez, a wolf-shifter/healer. They shared a night of passion a year ago and can't forget each other. She's a veterinarian and he comes into her clinic often. She treats him with some irritation and disdain but is incredibly attracted to him, as he is to her. It's only a matter of time before the embers are fanned into a full-fledged inferno.

But their love is not to be. Not only are they of different species, their families are enemies because of an incident that happened between Melina's brother and Kiernan's brother. But gosh darn the consequences, they wanted to be together!

The book is filled with page-turning action, a bit of mystery, and a heck of a love story. It is a short read and well-worth the few hours it takes to read it. Besides, who doesn't want to spend a little time with a hot 6'4" dark haired, dark eyed vampire? ;)

Reviewing the audible version. I thought the narrator did a wonderful job with the story. He kept the pace of the book fast and interesting. He made our hero’s voice sound sexy yet dangerous. I also liked that he didn't increase his voice one octave higher to sound like a silly girl when giving voice to Melina.

The story in itself focused more on the relationship among all characters than world building. I wish it would have gone deeper into explaining what Melina’s family business was and why it made her doubt Kiernan’s initial interest in her. Although I suppose given the length of the story it provided a practical reason for the hesitancy. Melina and Kiernan had great chemistry and the animosity between their families made a lot of sense once it was explained. I only wish the story would have been longer because the story felt incomplete somehow, like they reached a HFN instead of a HEA.

All in all the plot was well written so I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys PNR.

*** This is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.***

My review @ Coffee, Cookies & Books

This is a re-release which has been slightly edited since the original release. Before this I'd never read a book by this author although I'd had her on my TBR forever. I'll definitely read more of her works.

This story is a classic story of natural born enemies becoming lovers. Typical Romeo and Juliet style. Although this was a very short story there was a lot of information to get a feel for the world our two main characters were living in.

Kieran is a vampire and one night of hot sex with Melina tilted his world on its axis. Why can't he get the wolf shifter out of his mind when they are supposed to hate each other? And Melina feels pretty much the same way. Kieran is a protective and possessive alpha male with a sweet side to him and Melina is the female version of him. She goes against her families wish to see Kieran and he in return does everything to justify her faith in him.

Enemy Mine was a quick sexy read with adorable characters. I really hope that Katie Reus expands this universe and gives us more stories set in it.

I love both vampires and shifters so I was so excited to have both in this story. Though ENEMY MINE is very short it's chock full of action and storytelling. Katie Reus really excels at writing novellas and making sure they are fully developed. Though most of the initial attraction and emotions are already established at the beginning of the book, the reader can still enjoy the growth of Melina and Kiernan's relationship.

Kiernan is of course an overprotective male but he still cedes to Melina's wishes and doesn't try to stop her from using her abilities or helping others. Melina was very young and somewhat idealistic but still a likable heroine. I'm sad that this is a single title because I'd love to get more stories about both Melina and Kiernan's siblings.

This little short is a classic Romeo and Juliet story, but with vampires and wolf shifters. I loved that when the couple first met they didn’t have clue who the other was, too bad that when they did learn it caused them to walk away from a good thing.

After hearing the reason for the feud, it is easy to see why there was animosity, but at some time you have to get past it. I loved that Kiernan didn’t let the past stop him.

The ending was so funny, you can just see how that family gathering would go.

An unforgettable night together a year ago, but Melina knows that she and Kiernan never could mix. She´s a shifter, he´s a vampire, and their families are sworn enemies. Meeting again, Kiernan knows what he wants and when Melina is targeted he´s there to protect her. But who is after her, and why?
A quick read, PNR romance, action, suspense and smutty fluff in a great combo.

This was a really great short story and I'm hoping that there will be more written about this family. Kiernan and Melina had good chemistry and I enjoyed their family dynamics. I wish that there was more about Kiernan's family then just Ronan. Katie writes really great romantic suspense stories and I highly recommend you read this story.

Kiernan is a protective sort, “I’m not letting you go again,” he growled. She should realize that by now." These books are generally short and always leave me wanting more, the men are total alpha males which I love, and the women know how to hold their own.

This was a very quick listen (listened to it on Audible). Again, apparently Audible Escape is ending on November 1st and those books will be pulled from our libraries on that date, so I am trying to get through as many as I can before that date. with that being the case, I had no problems with the narrator.

This was a stand alone story - I think - that deals with a shifter and a vampire and the journey with the two of them as they become a couple. When I say short - it is novella short - about a 2 hour listen. I gave it 4 stars because I liked the characters, but really I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt because there were a couple of things that kind of took me out of the story.

I'm not sure that I have read any - or if so, very, very, few - stories where the main couple is a vampire with a shifter. And, even more- the vampire is a blood born vamp so he was born not made and has a family (Father, Mother and siblings who are true blooded relatives). These vampires have no restrictions (daylight is not a problem) and our Male MC has the ability to control fire. That is REALLY odd as fire is something that is usually SO terrifying to vamps...and for good reason.

Regardless, I liked the two of them. I liked the fact that both characters were basically "good" and both the youngest in their respective families. I cracked up at the end when the families get together to meet each other - that is not something you read about every day.

So - short, but with a nice story arc and a really nice HEA. Can't ask for more than that.

This was a good and steamy vampire and wolf shifter romance story. There's no buildup to the story, it get right to it from the very beginning. The chemistry between Kiernan and Melina was undeniable and their desires for each other was unwavering. There's heated and hated history between these two clans but Kiernan has no intention to fight against his intentions for Melina. He wants her and he will do what needs to be done to have her and their clans will just have to deal with it. However, other players and threats come into play and they have their eyes on Melina. They will do whatever it takes to get her for selfish purposes even if it destroys her in the end. The story has very little action but it's well written and there's never a dull moment. I'm looking forward to other books from this author.

Another great read by an amazing author. I just love how Ms. Reus writes. I am never disappointed! This is a brief short stand alone story about Melina and Kiernan. They had a one night stand a year ago but Melina vanished, after learning who Kiernan really is. Approximately 6 months later, Kiernan moves to Miami. Another 6 months go by with him watching and visiting her before she realizes that there is no one other than Kiernan for her. They get together after Kiernan shows her family that he isn't going anywhere and that they need to bury the feud between their families. Some brief action, hot sex scene and a mated HEA. 4.5 stars. Loved it!!!!

Katie Reus can make any paranormal couple believable. Her characters are written with such descriptive detail that you can feel the chemistry between them . A vampire and a young wolf shifter whose families were at war over 100 years ago and you have a true Romeo and Juliet love story only in this one they live anymore and bring the families some peace. Keenan and Melina have such an innocence about them that you'll not put this book down until you are done. This is a quick read and stand alone love story.
