*Edit- re-read* As I work my way through my Batman/DC collection, I'm discovering that I have read a few of these little kids books. Almost decided to keep this one, but I think I need to learn to let go... Original review: This is another book that my boyfriend got me, just a little something that was meant to make me smile and grow my Batman collection. I found it smushed between my DC pop-up book and one of my DC Encyclopedias. I was surprised at how good the artwork was in this as Tong's work is better than some of what I see in adult graphics! It isn't perfect but it looks hella good for a children's book. The story is short and simple, well-written. It isn't dumbed down to "See Jane Run", but rather uses good words that will make a young reader either A) ask a parent or B) use Google to understand the meaning. I really like that aspect.
This was a very quick, fun read that incorporated an odd selection of JL members and some off-beat villians.
My daughters are huge Batman fans and they really enjoyed this book overall. I found it a bit text heavy to read and they were eager to turn the pages (often before I was finished reading). This book also had some scary elements. My daughters didn't mind but this is not a great book for more sensitive readers.
