The forces of annihilation Throughout the galaxy, the near-invincible armiesof the alien Remor have set their sights on one the complete extermination of the human race.Outnumbered and outgunned, The InterstellarDefense League cannot afford to discard any asset -- so a disgraced Sector Commander is being given a chance to redeem himself ... by sacrificing his life. The fate of Christoph Stone -- and, perhaps, the destiny of all humankind -- is to be decided on a distant frontier planet nestled deep in enemy-controlled space. Saddled with shockingly green troops, a captain with a checkered past, and a trouble-making civilian expeditionary force, Stone's mission is clear and clearly suicidal. Because even his superiors are unaware of the weapon the Remor have waiting for the human invaders as they attempt to retake a captive an instrument of destruction that is demonic, unstoppable ... and obscenely human.
"Amish Zombies in Space" Not quite, but closer than you'd think. A rousing space opera with the military and space details close enough to real to make the story ring true. Well developed and flawed characters across the broad.
Literary allusions for the modern reader: "the ring of the fellowship" and a ship named Jack Aubrey are tossed out without ruining the fun by spotlighting them
Quibble: the Goodreads blurb is so misleading that it could almost be about a different book. Stone is a member of the cast, but he's far from the lead.

I enjoyed reading this book, enjoyed it a little more than face of the enemy I just wish they would find more info on these pesky Remor, definitely worth the time to read, fast paced.
