NASCAR First is an entertaining read. It's the fourth book in the Ruthless to Win series, and the third with a female protagonist. Driving for one of the lesser teams Flicka is stuck in midpack where the worst NASCAR bashers congregate, but she can handle it, she came up through the ranks and grew up in the father and grandfather of all dysfunctional families. As a female driver even her own team gives Flicka a hard time. Then her life partner publicly reveals that she is a lesbian, and Flick'a team manager promptly fires her. It turns out that Armitage really owns her contract, as a result of a nasty corporate takeover, and Armitage is planning to enter NASCAR and wants Flicka to be one of its drivers. It's the best ride of her life. But of course her life becomes more complicated, and dangerous, both on and off the track. Flicka is a more endearing character than I thought she would be, and the plot is action-filled and entertaining.
