Rhett and Lottie are siblings and Anson is Rhett’s best friend. They all grew up together. It was a hard life for all three of them, and did everything to protect each other at all costs, especially, Lottie. The psychological ramifications, of their actions, are heart-wrenching sadness they were having, to mostly protect each other from the adults in their lives. The ones who were supposed to love them.
At fifteen though, the handwriting was on the wall that, Anson was in love with, Lottie, and vice versa everyone knew it, except them. Rhett just watched it unfold over the years, and knew there was no guy better than, Anson for his sister. But, watching the two dance around each other, was painful. Living life as a SEAL is stressful for them, and their families. And for the first time, Anson and, Rhett were not going out on a mission together. Meaning, Anson would be home alone with, Lottie.
After a few drinks, the two get frisky, and before you know it, they had done the deed. Everything was good as she relaxed in his arms and fell asleep but then out of nowhere, Anson starts to panic. He gets up and gets dressed. Call Theo and meets him at a diner. Leaving no note, not even sending her a text, and nope not even waking her to say, hey meeting up with a friend I’ll be back. Nothing. I liked that the author allowed, Lottie to be angry with him. That she said her piece and had her dramatic exit, at the same time dropping the bomb. He didn't just get to say one or two, I’m sorry” and all well.
Since I read the rest of the series separately, I had gotten this to read this about, Anson and, Lottie. Glad I did. I have already reviewed all the others.
