Good story. Characters did not move me. No depth. But makes you think, what obsession can do for you.

A Man Most Worthy by Major introduces John Sebastian, an accomplished, handsome, smart millionaire who has "got it going on". Sebastian, a self-made man, pulled himself up from his proverbial "bootstraps" and escaped from Newark, NJ's inner city to the posh surroundings of the suburban Charlotte, NC. To complete the "look" he has the flashy, canary colored (not yellow) sports car and a beautiful, snooty coed girlfriend, 13 years his junior.
Sebastian is in his late-30's and undergoes somewhat of a "mid-life" crisis in which he chooses to lay down his trophies (including the young girlfriend) and add substance and purpose to his life. He decides to expand his business by returning to Newark and increase his public service activities by volunteering in his childhood neighborhood. With the help of a geriatric cupid, Mr. Duke, Sebastian connects with his long lost love, Josephine Flowers. She is everything he remembers and more - in fact, she is married. Sebastian learns that she married very hastily on the rebound from their bitter, heart shattering break-up seven years earlier, however he does not know that she has been silently suffering ever since. The drama ensues as Sebastian tries to win her back.....but will he be successful in his pursuit of love and happiness? Can Josephine forgive him for the painful act that he forced upon her....the one act she has regretted daily for seven years? Read to find the answer!

Major has written a perfect novel for a lazy summer afternoon-it has romance/drama, it is fresh, and it is light. The book exhibits solid pacing, decent writing, and great characterization. Major further demonstrated his skills by delivering au courant and clever dialogue, especially between the female characters Josephine and her best friend, Gloria. Even the love scenes in the novel are tastefully done - they are "spicy" and add just a pinch of flavor to excite the story. This was my first time reading Marcus Major's work and I would read more of his material.

This book is very vivid, and the words he uses to capture you are beautiful as well, but the book itself did nothing for me. It took too long to get to all of the secrets and through all of the denials and the end was too far away.

A MAN MOST WORTHY is a based on before, after and once again. Two childhood friends Josephine and John, hook back up after John Sebastian moves back to New Jersey. Jules Anthony, John's close friend and their mentor, Mr. Duke, knew that it had been seven long years since John has really been loved. They both set idly by as John played house with some chick named Scent (short for Millicent).

Gloria is a prosperous, business savvy sister with that, `tell it like it is' syndrome. She loves her girl, Josephine, but doesn't understand how her girl let's her boozhee husband, who doesn't make her release, hold such a significant power over her!

In retrospect, Josephine, hates her boss, but loves her job. She loves her marriage, but hates her husband. The most special thing about A MAN MOST WORTHY in my opinion is the words that Marcus utilized.
This is the first book that I've read by Marcus and I wasn't impressed, but, I am willing to try at least once more.

At first glance, John Sebastian seems to have it all—a multi-million dollar company, fine cars, fine woman, and 2 houses—but lately he has been feeling like something is missing. Josephine Prescott has been married to her husband Darren for 7 years. Her once loving and attentive husband has become critical and insensitive to her needs. John and Josephine have history…they were once engaged. Their relationship ended abruptly several years prior. In an attempt to give back to the community that raised him, John unknowingly gives a gift of 100 brand new computers to the school where Josephine happens to be the vice principal. When John sees Josephine, all kinds of unresolved feelings resurface. Even though Josephine is married, John still believes that he has a chance to reclaim the woman who was once his. Seeing John reminds Josephine of the anger that she has been harboring since their breakup.

A Man Most Worthy was a great read. The authors style of writing clear and easy to follow. Even though the ending was a bit predictable, I still enjoyed the story. I would recommend this title to anyone who is a fan of African American romance.

This one was somewhat enjoyable to read, but either because it was too formulaic, or because I've been reading too much African-American rags-to-riches stories of late, I found this one too predictable. And in comparison to the characters created by Valerie Wilson Weslie in the recently read Ain't Nobody's Business if I Do, the good characters in this book were far too perfect and the bad ones way too evil. The dialog was entertaining, but I'll just have to trust the author that that is how the Black nouveaux riches really talk — I don't know any personally. I added this book to my list after reading and enjoying the author's 4 Guys and Trouble.

It was a very comfortable read. it took me awhile only because I kept finding other books to read in between. I love the second chances theme as well as how a lie or truth left buried can come back destroy everything. I think this should have been named A Woman Most worthy
