This fun early chapter reader would be a good one to share with young readers at the beginning of the school year, especially as you're establishing routines and expectations for the care of library books. Max loves to read, but his dog constantly interrupts. With each interruption, Max folds down the corners of the book's pages, creating dog-ears. This book could serve as a great mentor text to help kids write their own stories about rules at school, in the library, or at home. The book also includes discussion questions, writing prompts, and a glossary.

A great book to share at the beginning of the year about book care. It would also be fun for students to make their own bookmarks.

Probably should be re-titled Max and Zoe: The Library Book, as they barely spend any time at the library, but is a decent easy reader book on the topic of caring for library books.

I would use this book to talk to students about taking care of library books. I would read this book before taking my students to the library for the first time. I would explain the importance of keeping library books safe. I would also give this book to students who are between chapter and picture books.

This is a great book to read for a 1st or 2nd grade first library visit. Max has trouble taking care of the library book he borrowed and Zoe is there helping him to remember the rules of book care.
