A spiritual handbook focusing on the topics of prayer and wisdom explains how Christians can draw on God's wisdom to guide every aspect of their lives, from family relations and health to managing personal finances. Reprint. 25,000 first printing.
"You RELEASE wisdom in your life by ACTING on the Word of God with faith and by confessing that you do not have wisdom in your natural self (just as you can't save yourself by your own ability) but that in Christ Jesus you HAVE God's wisdom (just as you have God's salvation through Christ Jesus). ~ Dr. Larry Lea, Wisdom: The Gift Worth Seeking, Page 155
There were many practical things mentioned in this book that can be taken away and applied to your life. I particularly liked the suggestion to read a Proverb a day from the Book of Proverbs in the Bible. There are 31 days in a month (sometimes 30) and you can read a proverb a day and you will have gone through the whole Book of Proverbs in a month and 12 times a year. Imagine all the wisdom that you could glean from doing this. For example, today as I write this, it is September 22nd; therefore you would read Proverbs 22. I actually did not have enough time yesterday to read Proverbs 21, so I took the time to read both chapters and catch up.
For those of you with iPhones, you can download the Bible App called "You Version". You can carry many different versions on your iPhone and when you make time in the morning, you can either listen or read that Proverb for the day. (Yes, this app allows you to listen to the Bible as well and best of all it is a free app). Go to this website to download the same: https://www.youversion.com/
Larry Lea shows how to apply wisdom to your life in all areas. The great thing I think about this book that makes it different is that many times Larry Lea encourages his reader to seek God in prayer before making a decision, speaking, entering a job, quitting a job, etc. Prayer is set on a higher plane in this book for attaining wisdom and I 100% agree that praying before acting or speaking is an intelligent course of action.
God desires for you to have wisdom and it makes Him smile when His children are wise. (See Proverbs 10:1)
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5, NIV)
