The Hearing Ear by Larry Lea is a primer for hearing the voice of God. One focus of the book is to get the reader to a spiritual place where it will be possible for him to hear the Voice of God. That is why the book is primarily concerned with the attitude of one's heart and getting the reader to adjust his attitude. The other focus is to build up one's faith so that you will get to a place of expecting to hear the voice of God.
A clear and well-presented book about listening to God. The author proposes that prayer should be a two-way exchange rather than the monologue which most of us are more used to. There is solid Scriptural backing and some practical advice to the suggestions made, including a very helpful chapter about praying the Lord's Prayer.
I gather the author was involved in one of the TV evangelist scandals; nevertheless, this book, written in 1990, is well worth reading. I found it thought-provoking and quite inspiring.
