From New York Times bestselling author Nikki Turner comes the sequel to Project Chick. Tressa always thought that the best moment in her life was the day she gave birth to her twin boys, Khalil and Hadji, but even better was when she got the news that their abusive father, Lucky, was dead. His death gave the streets freedom and safety, and it gave Tressa an opportunity to start over. She was thrilled the bad days were gone, but it didn't take long for her to realize that, even though Lucky was dead, she would never be free of him. When the twins discover that Indie, the man who raised them, had a hand in killing their father, nothing can stop them from plotting their revenge. They are about to find out that nothing is what it seems.
After Nikki Turner read The Coldest Winter Ever by Sistah Souljah she was dismayed that there weren't other books like it. "I wanted to write the kinds of books I wanted to read," said the bestselling author, whose 2002 debut novel, A Hustler's Wife, would go on to sell more than a few 100,000 copies. While Nikki Turner's first two novels were published by a small publishing house in the Midwest, in 2004 she signed a 2-book deal with One World, an imprint of Ballantine Books, which is part of The Random House Publishing Group. After publishing the first book under that deal, The Glamorous Life in 2005 as well as a short story collection edited by Nikki, Street Chronicles: Tales from da Hood, One World quickly signed Nikki up for three more Nikki Turner Original novels and negotiated a deal with her for her own book line, Nikki Turner Presents. "I want to give new authors the same kind of opportunity I was given," said Nikki. "I want to produce authors who will be household names."
So I was so excited when i came across this book in the book store a few weeks ago.. Project Chick was a must read for coast 2 coast readers online book club, it then went to the glass case with a do not ask to borrow on it. for me Project chick II What's done in the Dark was a just OK read, i guess some books should never be a sequel or series...
The ending left me speechless!! I can't believe Lucky is still alive. I'm glad Ace got what he deserved. And who Eli was having an affair with shocked me. I didn't see that coming. Ali & Hadji were off the hook and just when things was looking good here comes Lucky rising from the dead. I can't wait for part 3.

Decent read. Full of the usual street action that I come to expect from 1 of my favorite authors. Although it has been many moons since I read the original book, it kind of left me trying to remember what happened in the beginning of the 1st book. Nevertheless, if you have read the 1st book, then it only makes sense to read the follow up. Kudos to Nikki for once again incorporating a character from her previous books and implanting them amongst the pages of this book. No one does it better than Ms. Turner. The ending had a couple of doozies I didn't expect either. Ms. Turner gets 2 thumbs up for those twists!
Wow! This book was pretty good. I'm sure there will be a third because of the ending. I enjoyed this one even better because you can really tell the author grew because of her depiction of more than your average street life. I think she expanded the emotions of the twins great! They seemed so real. They both needed the love and the truthfulness the grandmother gave them. That darn lucky is like a cat, surely he has 9 lives. Overall, I gave this one four stars.
Loved the ending and that is the only reason why I gave it 1 star. If i did not love the first book project chick I wouldn't have given it a rating. I would not recommend this book because the overall story line was boring and i felt like the author had to write a sequel because the first book did well, but in my opinion it didn't need a sequel. Since im already captivated by the series i will definitely be reading the third book just because.
This book was the follow up to part 1. Just when you think you have it all your past comes. This book follows Tressa as she raises her two twin sons and they are a handful. I love the raw emotion the author wrote in you can feel the emotions as you read it. This book was hard to put down and I’m looking forward to part 3! If there is one
I'm normally a Nikki Turner fan, but this book was just not up to her normal standards. The plot was sloppy and the characters made no sense. It felt as if she was just rushing this book because of a contract or just to make a buck. There were way too many run on sentences, that served no point other than to add to the word count. I'm disappointed in this one, and hope Nikki Turner gets it together on her next book.
This is book is so good, I just hope there's a part there. Please let there be a part 3. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who have already read part 2.
Good follow-up book! Tressa is a great mother, trying hard to raise her twins to be better men than their father. The news of Lucky's death was just what she needed so life could go on. But it didn't go on without some hitches along the way. Working for the mayor was great money and a nice career change, but it came with keeping a terrible secret from his wife Ivy who Tressa had become fast friends with. Ace, about as much of a low life as Lucky, tricked his way into the twins life....acting the part of the caring uncle who loved their father like a brother. He got in their heads and told them things that made them run away from home and run the streets. Indie, the love of Tressa's life and soon to be stepfather to the twins, stepped in and earned back the boys' respect and admiration. Finally, life is great again! The sweet day of their nuptials turned into the fight of their life. And wait? Did Tressa see a ghost or did she really see Lucky?! Cannot wait for a 3rd follow-up book!

I must have missed something. How did Indy just get away with running from the police and faking he’s death? I’m a little thrown back with how Tressa just let her son run the streets. She’s aware that they are bas as hell and hanging around this Ace guy, so why is she just letting it happen. Ok and the scene with the shooting …they are 13ish years old that can’t driving, but they can shoot and hit their target like pros. Really?
This logic don’t mix. Taj & Indy being so super bad ass and Ace not taking heed to their power but being scare of them.
Things that should have been left out: • The Eli drama. • The details & the breakdown of the wedding ceremony.
Wowwww I read " A Project Chick" over 10 years ago! I had to read it again before I started this one to remember that was going on. Part two was better and I can't wait for part 3!!
I listened to this book on Audible. I gave it a 3, because of the surprise at the end. The story moved along a steady pace with just enough drama to keep you interested, but not so much that you feel overwhelmed. The boys development felt a little off. I would have like their anger toward Indy to be explained more clearly. Indy had been around the boys for 7 or 8 years (formative) years and by all accounts in the role of "father figure". They knew there father was not around when they were younger based on Ali's interaction with Lucky after a pee wee football game at the age of 7. What happened that made the boys so angry and defiant. I guess I missed the connection. Overall this was a decent listen. I am looking forward to part 3. The stage has been set for an explosive finale.
If there was ever an unnecessary sequel, this is it! The first book had everything- sex, violence, betrayal, an inspiring story of a strong woman, romance, and revenge. Plus the first book could have ended right where it did and you could assume everyone was just fine (well, lol, almost everyone). But no, this book had to spoil the satisfying ending of the first book and create a lot of unnecessary drama that was more depressing than entertaining. Plus a lot of this book was just rehashing of events that happened in the first book, sometimes the same scenes, the same actions and characters, but with different dialogue! That was pretty annoying. If the first book hadn't been so good this book wouldn't have been terrible, but it was a major letdown.
I keep looking for one just to end a bit different for this author, but I guess keeping the reading wondering is the goal. Tressa is back with her boo and her boyz. The boyz are growing up and have lots of questions and feel they are not getting straight answers. The answers they find lead them to places they should not be. The truth could lead them back home.
There are no happy forever's in this authors books. There seems to be a twist in the end. If this is what I want I can look at my life daily to see there are no fairy tales or ever after happiness. But the world's she create gives the reader something to be immersed in for a time.
Even though I don't feel the book deserved a sequel.... This was a good book I feel Tressa was left out a bit . . . the twins are crazy as hell (lol) Indie could do no harm in my eyes. I just wished he could have been more of a hands on step dad to the boys instead of keeping his distance I hate dudes like that. Tressa seemed so toned down in the book , I can't relate to her anymore but I am happy she finally got what she wanted !!! . . . I can't believe they where engaged for 8years -_- I don't like that & whoever messed up the wedding ain't shit smh I hate when unexpected shit happens and ruins a book I was starting to enjoy !!!! THE CLIFFHANGER ALSO MADE ME MAD !!!!
