Learning and rebuilding
I really like that this book in the series was very focused on trusting ,healing, and believing in oneself. A lot of things have came out between Talia and Eli. How Eli left made Talks very angry and of course made the family change in ways that was not for the better. Especially her eldest child. It took Eli awhile to see that some healing needed to happen between him and his wife. Tabitha really needed to believe in herself. She was so busy worrying about what others thought of her that she couldn't stay focused and made a very bad decision. But it's crazy that Tabitha doesn't know that she actually teaching her people how to loosen up and not be so hard. Tabitha is the only one whose shows vulnerability and be human while the rest of them learn.

Psychological fantasy
This is a fantasy book, yes, but it’s heavily character-driven to the point where setting and plot are secondary at best. The characters are strong, complex, and well-drawn, but don’t expect wizard battles and sieges here; it’s about people being people and learning to be OK with that.

Loved it. It was my first science fiction novel since twilight and I was sooooo good. I felt like a teen again.

So good! After reading Book 1 in the series I couldn’t wait to get to book 2 and it did not disappoint.
